 Nikon D200, Focus Problem

ohmy.gif I am having a problem with the focus on my Nikon D200. I think it may be a matter of my having hit an incorrect button.

I have the lens set on infinity (as always). ALso set on M/A, not M. S for single shot. Matrix setting. P . Problem is - a lot of shots the distance is clear, but the foreground subject is blurry, and the camera is taking photos that are blurry. It should not take them until it is in focus.

I can bring it to the meeting tonight - could someone PLEASE help!
