Character Birthday, And how I got here...

Yes, today is Valienta's birthday. Created back 2 years ago in the medical library of UVM. When first created val was a mnk punching her way to 18 and getting subjob access. With some help from some RL friends to get her started with a mere 15k in gear good times eh. Next was thf to level for "farming" reasons O_o. But after gaining access to sneak attack and hooking up with a good friend Illmage, it turned into an obsession that still continues.

So now after the loss of many friends, but the gaining of many more, val has arrived:

I've always found it sad how nobody replied to this, because Valienta is super cool.

I thought it was more of a private viewing, and that our messages would dillute the purpose of the thread. But ah well.

Well gee, I didn't relize I was so popular that I get people talking in my random rambling thread

I am one that loves to track progress and show it off to people so part of the reason this is here. As I had feared work has really cut into my playtime but I'm still pokeing around. I might have to figure out where I want to go from here. Because of my work I may not be able to obtain any of the armor I want but we'll see. I do want to finish up COR and Dancer looks intreeging (mainly because it uses dagger).

And thanks for the pic, I'll keep it around with the other pics I have to remind me where I have come and what I've done

You have a 65 archer? since when? ^^;;

Ooops, Guess I forgot RNG was 64 (and go 65 by the time xia posted.) And it's 66 now ^^ go go static. With today's maintenance extension I suppose I should post my blurb.

What to do with a LS that is a mere shadow of it's former self? Reminisce on what it once was? Where it has brought me? What have I done while I was there? The three posts above show that I've gained a lot with my time in HQ. Will I post a fifth year of Valienta's adventures here? That I cannot answer as the future is ever volatile to change. Would it be sad to see HQ go completely? Perhaps, but I also see arise from its ashes new leaders and friendships that have not be burned away. Friends led me to this game and I've enjoyed it and still do. A game friend invited me to HQ and we are still friends. And even though I may seem like a traveler now, friends still guide me in my path while introducing me to new people and experiences.

Xia once asked me, what keeps you playing FFXI? I flatly replied with "You". She didn't believe me and it isn't entirely true but it is one piece of the puzzle. What good is the story if there's no one there for you to share it with? What good is the armor or the exp if there's no one there to congratulate you on gaining that next level or showing off that next big number. Why do some people seem to want to take the MMO out of MMORPG? It seems even for me there are times you just don't want to deal with people. But you know what? Tough. People are out there and since I've started working I've had to deal with people day in and day out. Some people just naturally get along with me while others it can be a struggle. I'm sure they are good whatever it is they do it's just hard to communicate what you can and cannot do for them.

So Val you've played 4 years, what's next? Like I've told many people right now I feel the greatest reward to effort ratio is exping. I'm looking to take PLD up while my RNG and MNK statics continue to chug along. I keep dumping scrolls on DNC so that might end up being 75 some day as well. I'm also keeping an eye out for missions/quests/and armor that I see doable or obtainable. Will I ever quite? Maybe... But right now I don't see the need to stop playing.

I'm with you on exp being my favorite reward/effort activity right now. Especially if you can do it in a static with a bunch of friends.

An interesting note though. It took me 5 years to get to 365 days play time... that's roughly 20% of my life. Granted one can say a fair amount of that I was afk or something. But still 20%? Maybe it's just the only thing I do for my off time. Here I am anyway, still poking along. Not even the knowledge of FFXIV on the horizon has slowed me down. What will this look like next year? Three more 75s I hope and maybe more! Only time will tell.
