So the character you've created is now approved and you're staring at the board index wondering "How do I jump in and get started with all of this?" Here's some ideas and suggestions that might get your character up and into the action.

1. Search the forums for current running "Open" threads. These are threads anyone can jump into at some point or to begin it. Many people start one and hope someone will join it to rp with. You can be that "someone"

2. Start an open thread of your own.

3. If a student character, avoid starting open threads in your dorm room or common room. While this is not a bad thing, it does limit who can reply to your open thread. If you do wish to start an open thread there, start another somewhere else (happening at a different time of course!) that others not in your House can jump into and get to know you.

4. Post a request for plots and rp time in our Splotting forum

5. Read over other character bios in our Character Profiles Forum and see which ones might fit into an rp with your character somehow. Find one who might make a good friend? Mentor? Enemy? Whatever? PM them and introduce yourself. Tell them you read their bio and think the two of them might be able to rp and how... See if they are interested. They may not be at the moment if they are in several threads already but you get to know each other in the meantime.
