Finally I managed to make the game load bigger resolution textures! I had been going at this for several times, until finally I decided to use other texturemaps as the base. It worked!

Now I've invested already around 4 hours in Dante's head textures, and here's my progress. Naturally I used DMC4 textures, even his hair has much more detail now.

Edit: Tweaked his face a bit more, namely the eyes, skin complexion and shadows and lips.

Edit2: Improved his entire torso (not the coat), and tweaked face again.
The torso took a long time, basically it's the same texture, but with the size increased, then sharpened 3 times, then smudged it alot to smooth out the pixelation, then sharpened one last time to make it finally crisp for this resolution. I think it still needs more work though, but for now it will do, I want to move on to the trenchcoat.

Edit3: Started work on the trenchcoat, namely the buttons, zippers, holster straps and "couch" padding, and tweaked his face again: widened the eyes a little and added more shadow on his features. I don't think I'll edit his face again at this stage, but I don't think I'll be finished with all the textures by the end of the month either, so sit tight, gentlemen.

Dante doesn't look like....Dante anymore...More like an assembly of sense organs.
No offence.
But I am looking forward to this release.

Now that's what I don't like about DMC 4. Characters are looking like cartoons. DMC 3 had a lot more realistic look. Yeah the models are in too low quality and the shaders aren't that good, but I always liked the way characters and their behavior (animations). DMC 4 has better shaders and environment, but characters look so unreal. What I'm trying to say is - don't use DMC 4 textures. I don't know what advice I can give to you. I don't have much of an experience, but I'd rather to use a real photo to make this mod.

Edited first post.

@Overlord: Perhaps you're right, but Dante didn't look like Dante in the first place in-game, his face just doesn't have as many polygons as the cutscene model; and no, it can't be replaced by it, the cutscene model is split in too many parts to use it as a replacement.

@Lucas: Don't mind yourself about the DMC4 textures, everytime I load my progressive work I keep track of what looks off, then edit it again. I'm sure Dante won't look like a "cartoon" once this is all 100% complete.

Still, I disagree that they look like cartoons in DMC4. Except Agnus, maybe.

Also how do I use a real photo of DANTE? plain1.gif

@Phirotic: Fuck you.

//ZING

Of course that's just a joke, but you can still use other photos to make a legit Dante look!

@krier: Smaller eyes makes him look more mature. So no, I'm not making them bigger.

@hyper: Yes, but knowing TRP, he'll probably do that first while I'm still working on DMC3 Dante. If he doesn't, well, I'll do it then.

@Phirotic: Still fuck you. If he looks emo to you then you have no understanding of the concept of an emo at all, and your opinion just makes you sound like an ignorant child.

Textures look much better than original ones in DMC3. Too bad engine doesn't allow to advance graphics to a qualitative level than just adding better textures.

Also, Dante's face reminds me of the textures of Gut's one from the Berserk Game.Not in a bad way,mind you.

@Phirotic:
Comments like those of yours makes me hate this forum, just that you know that.

Updated.

@Darknight99: Okay. You always do this. In every single thread, no matter what it is, you always jump into it suggesting something. It's annoying.

Do you mind letting me FINISH this project first before coming in here with your BRILLIANT suggestions?

"you should do this with vergil to"

REALLY. YOU THINK. GEE THANKS, I WOULDN'T HAVE EVER THOUGHT OF THAT MYSELF.

@Phirotic: Take your stupid remarks elsewhere then.

@Tantrix: It will look a ton better than the original once it's actually finished. Also, which Berserk game are you speaking of, the Dreamcast or PS2 game?

Man, I have Berserk, didn't even cross my mind he could look like Guts at all. I haven't played it in a while though, it's a pretty sweet game but quite dull once you've beat everything in it :p

Now that is what I call HQ...
The update has given a recognizable face to Dante.
The textures looking crisp than ever. happy1.gif
And were the holster's texture supposed to look like leather?
Because it sure doesn't...
