 I've just tried the beta version of the mod. I think the models and textures of the hoplites are nice (the argonian epilaktoï and epidaurians are excellent), but there is a big error; during battles the hoplites are using the old fashioned fighting technic (before VIIth century). With the hoplite revolution (750 - 650 B.C.) the Homeric style was abandonned for the phalanx formation that you can see in RTW.

excuse for my very bad english

Greetings!
First of all I'd like to say that the phrase "hoplite revolution" is used to discribe the forming of hoplite warfare, not just it's transformation into rtw style phalanx.
Second the phalanx that you see in rtw is the macedonian phalanx which came in use after the macedonian invasion into greece, the phlanx of the Peloponnesean Wars is perfectly depicted in this mod.
Third there was no phalanx in homeric ages, the style of battle was absolutely different.
I'm a bit in a hurry now but later on today (if you want) I can discuss this topic more.
Oh, and please don't think that the team that's making this mod doesn't have any historic researchers, I believe they are doing tons of work and I also believe that they have done some research on Ancient Greek phalanxes.
Cheers!

you're right, during homeric ages there were not phalanx formation. I think the problem comes from the fighting style of the hoplites during the game; they fight like the soldiers that you can see on many ancient potteries dealing with the heroic duels of the Troy war ( the spear above the shoulder).
The macedonian phalanx is different of the classical hoplite phalanx with the usage of the "sarisse" (excuse me, i don't know the english translation); a really long spear (5-7 meters long). For example the spartans never used it, preffering the classical phalanx appeared with the hoplite revolution. Another example; during the Thermopyles battle they have killed many persian warriors before being crushed, Herodote describe their battle formation, if they have succeeded to do it, it's because they were in phalanx formation; protecting each others with their shield and presenting lines of spears to the ennemy.
oh, I know that the mod team have really tons of works. I don't denigrate their works.
Amicallement.
