Smackdown vs. Raw 2010

Yet another year and yet another entry in the franchise.

Last year we got a number of small new features and modes, but in retrospect, there was nothing of major interest added to the series last year. We got the Inferno match, a reasonably poor Career mode, a number of updates to the tag match and the rather good story mode of 'Road to Wrestlemania'.

This year, the tagline is "It's your world now", this is in reference to the vast number of customization tools at your disposal. They've tweaked the CAW mode and made the vast majority (if not all) the parts completely 3D in an attempt to make your characters look on par with the wrestler in-game models. Along with an improved CAW mode there is a new feature called the 'paint tool' which allows you to make a logo and put it onto your CAW, allowing you to create the likes of Superman and whatever you please.

CAW slots have increased from 30 to 50, you can share all your creations online, from highlight reels, logos, CAWs, and created stories...

Create A Story is a new feature that allows you to create your own story and write your own script. You can really do whatever you want in this mode. Think making your own RTW with more stuff. Obviously if you're not into the creation side of this, you can download a number of stories that have been created by others online.

You can now change the colours of WWE Wrestlers' attires in 'Superstar Threads', so if you wanted to make a bright pink Triple H, you're more than welcome to.

Other new features/modes include; Championship Scramble match, apron moves, various small gameplay changes and improvements such as chest going red after slaps and more moves at your disposal, Divas are allowed in every match but first blood now, TLC is now an actual ladder match rather than pinfall, Ladder matches show actual belt rather than always WHC, etc.

It is claimed by the devs that a number of online glitches have been addressed, the Royal Rumble mode has been improved among other things.

The game hits stores October 20th and October 23rd in Europe. If you pre-order from GameSpot/EB in the US, you get Steve Austin. In the UK, if you pre-order from GAME, you also get Steve Austin.

This game is going to be amazing. I think I'm going to have to pre-order it so I can be Stone Cold.

The create a story thing is going to be epic. Apparently you can have 2 years worth of shows per story. That sounds amazing.

My story is going to be a feud between the tag team Triple H and Cena, and their opponent Hornswoggle. HHH and Cena lose every week. Then at the end Orton kicks Hornswoggle's head off.

I thought I put a topic in the PC gaming section months ago about Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 or 2009 or something--and said, ''Why did I put this in PC gaming? Because it's coming out for PC!''. Then again, that might have been for Street Fighter IV instead. I can't remember now. But oh well. 2010 is another year that the wrestling entertainment industry gives PC gaming a miss.

On a related topic though, there was a WWE Wrestling game announced by THQ called 'Smackdown vs. Raw Online' some time ago, but information has been scarce. I'm sure more information will be released closer to it's eventual release date.
