All righty. Let's get this party started.
This thread is for the following: > ESTABLISHING RULES. > ESTABLISHING OUR PLOT. > CREATING OUR CHARACTERS. I will throw out the following for starters and we can tweak and add to it from here... > FORMING PARTIES AND CREATING CHARACTERS I have a couple ideas for this. First of all, each party maintains their own threads, chapters, whatever. Each party has a NAME, and that name is used in their thread topics. for example... Caravan Ch. 1 - The Journey Begins That would be suitable for the actual group in the comic, for those wondering, where Caravan is their party name, Ch. 1 is what chapter of the story they're on (this is optional, but for parties expecting to last likely necessary lest your thread be several hundred pages long), and "The Journey Begins" is their chapter title. Groups not wishing to use chapters can just name a thread their party's title with something like this: Caravan's RP Thread Or of similar nature. Makes sense, right? And for those who wish to go with chapters after all, the Edit button? It's awesome. If parties so wish, they can make their own OOC threads or even change the rules for their group a bit. I would recommend, however, that every party have a leader. For the time being, this won't be a big deal, but as things grow it may become necessary, as there will be more parties. You may form any sort of character you want. Granted, you want your character to fit in with the party's general group. For example, a sentient dog amongst a large number of sentient ducks probably wouldn't go over well, whereas Dogs and Cats could work much like Mice and Hamsters, in a way. On that note, parties who wish to exist to oppose each other may be better off sharing a thread, as it would be easier to follow. Maybe. I'll leave that up to said parties. Character creation should follow some format that describes the character's appearance, personality, and any odd facts about them, especially special skills or areas of expertise and weaknesses. I'm sure somebody will eventually come up with an effective format and everyone will mimic them, as that's usually how it happens. Also, those with artistic skill are encouraged to set up a picture or profile of some sort of their character. this is partly to help us get a better feel for him/her and partly just because I like spiffy doodles and colors. Please note that creating a character in NO WAY permits you to start posting in whatever party thread you'd please. A party must give their permission for you to post in their thread. Breach this rule, and I WILL do something about it. While some parties may not mind people who join briefly just to leave unresolved, others may want a more dedicated member. Of course, I'm sure there's room for villains and stuff. I'd also encourage that a character not be a part of more than one party at any given time. Parties may decide wether or not to add somebody however they want: polls are one way, though limiting that to members of your party with a forum poll is hard, so you'd have to do it with replies. Polls are as a result disabled. that and they've little other practical use in my mind. .-. Another method is to have the leader(s) of that group decide. I'll leave that up to the parties. Please note that a lot of this won't matter to us right now because we'll probably just be one party. XD > FORMING YOUR PARTY'S STORY While I strongly encourage staying away from the actual plot of HamstaPowah, using it's locations and events is just fine by me. This RP is in no way intended to add to HP in any way, with the exception of where certain races come from or whatever, which even still is entirely up to me. So don't expect your RP thread to become the next chapter of the manga, k? > FORMAT How your party RPs is up to their leader or group decision... if you are accepted into a party that RPs only their own characters, don't take control over theirs. If they use novel-style writing, don't hop in in script format. It's really quite simple. > OTHER RULES Don't get in parties just to ruin their whole story. The punishment for breaking this will be based on the effort the party has put into their story, but rest assured I will nothing short of ban somebody who slaughters a whole storyline a group has spent months working on. Keep OOC posts to an OOC thread unless it's a brief comment at the beginning or end of your post. Groups can decide to what extent this rule is followed and enforced themselves. > THREAD TITLE IDEAS: (party name)'S CREATION THREAD (party name) - STARTING A NEW PARTY Unnamed - Forming New Group! (party name) - Recruitment and OOC (party name)'s Mindless Banter etc. > RULES WILL BE ENFORCED < I'm serious about this. I don't want other players' fun being ruined by some noob coming in and crashing their whole ordeal. > OUR PARTY'S STUFF. I'm completely open for suggestions regarding plot, general character type (rodent or small mammal is my personal preference, but, hey, look what I write the comic about. XD), and from there we can figure out party name. Plot at this point could be as simple as how we'll all end up meeting, but if we want to plan villains or something... well, go for it. Throwing out ideas is half the process here. > MODERATORS While I only need one or two mods for now, if things grow, I'll need more and more members who are reliable and want to keep things civil. There's a lot of chance for problems to come up here, as well as a lot of times where things will need to be enforced. With rules, I'm not looking to ban everybody and their sister. If something can be fixed that was done on accident, then I'd much rather do that than scare people away. Any moderators need to follow this same idea. I have a couple names in mind for possible mods, but anyone wanting to elect somebody, feel free to do so and state your arguments. -------------------- |

I'll probably hold a vote as to style. I personally find novel style a pain to write, as well as taxing on my patience. It's so hard to not do a lot of repetition, especially with dialouge... Joe said... Bob said... said Carl... said Jane.... Job hollered...

? Hehehe, wow, thanks for the vote of confidence Um, second thing, oh yeah, do we actually post our characters here once we make them? And if yes to that, do we post them as soon as we can or should we wait to work out more stuff first? -------------------- |

Go ahead and post it. You seem to be the only one with a solid idea right now, and seeing what you've got would help me determine what I should go with. >.o Race locations and what-not.

I hope your operation went well... O:
And I would also prefer novel style... -------------------- “I was raised right. I talk about people behind their backs. It’s called manners.”

I'm starting to get some ideas for this...
I think once someone takes the initiative to start the first party it'll really take off. -------------------- “I was raised right. I talk about people behind their backs. It’s called manners.”

What's all involved in Novel style?
Will the start be something like this... In the land of Neval there was once a group of champions. These champions travelled far and wide to right the wrong and to correct the injustices. This is not there story. No no no this is a story about a few unlikely heroes. Who through sheer luck and determination goes against all odds and come triumph through the mist of adversity. Wait. This is not their story either. Though they are a good part of this. Well, actually when you get right down to it this is a story about the other side of the coin. About the people who are heroes from another perspective. With a mothers love only and a chip on there shoulder that could be sculpted. This is about there story and there unlikely travels and hardships. Remember everyone is a hero to someone and this is there story. or Mopping it's always mopping. In the dim light of the corridor one can't help but not notice any progress that may have been made. "This is what the lowly are for Mr. Cranigen," Mrs. Peach had informed me after delivering me the punishment of mopping. She always sat at her desk doing desk things. No one know what they are but everyone is in a hurry to have them. The glue was suppose to dry slow enough that I would have been long gone before she was "crackly." I should learn to read the label. Maybe I wouldn't be so mischievous if this whole place wasn't so boring. Classes then work. Work then Classes. It's always "Mr. Cranigen, this is all so one day you won't be a leech. You'll be a slug at least then you'll produce something useful." High expectations I know. If only something would happen. Then go on from there. Personally I tend to write like I talk. There really isn't much difference. The above one is more like a narrator and the second is more like Raymond Feist. I was just wondering if I got it right. Though I actually think those are pretty good. Now if only I could learn to expand I might be a writer -------------------- Don't shoot me because I'm beautiful.

I would imagine narrator unless we want the point of view changing every post.
ZARON: I still prefer scripting style... "YAY, PARAGRAPHS." *nervous laugh* -------------------- |

I'm cool with novel style, it's the one I'm used to, but I can work with whatever
Name: Zone Agalp Race: Hamster (descended from Syrian/"Golden" hamsters) Gender: Male Age: 14 MY Element: Fire Appearance: Zone is a little on the short side, even for a hamster, and is youthfully fit in the way achieved by being generally active rather than through dedicated training. Apart from this he has a fairly average, medium build for his age, and his fur is golden-brown around his head and feet, fading at his neck and hips respectively into a slightly off-white shade. He has somewhat wild, naturally medium-length brown hair, although as he rarely cuts it it can get quite long, which grows upwards and outwards from his head and falls back around it messily. His eyes are amber, and usually sharp yet playful, and his overall appearance is one of moderate cuteness that is only belied by the mischievous look he usually wears. Zone wears a form-fitting, sleeveless, black thief's top which doesn't restrict movement, is well-ventilated, durable and has several secure pockets and a discreet belt, it can be worn closed or open at the front. He also wears a dark blue bandanna to keep his hair in check, which is made for a larger species, but he can either wrap it around his head twice or leave it and have long trailing lengths. He currently has two knives on his person, one a thief's weapon of decent craftsmanship that he keeps visible and the other a far more common make that he keeps concealed but in easy reach. Personality: Zone is a headstrong and driven individual, his ambitious nature balanced off somewhat by a cheeky, playful attitude. He is friendly and does care for those around him, especially those he grows close to, but his typically cocky, smart-assed disposition can overshadow this, sometimes to the point where he seems entirely self-centred. He has quick wits and a fast tongue, and tends to joke with others without any intentional spite, but he can be careless and hurt when he only meant to tease, usually trying to make amends if he realises this and doesn't feel at risk from any backlash. This reckless attitude lends itself to a fondness for innuendo and flirting as well, the hamster having little restraint in regards to what would normally be considered appropriate. When things get serious these traits translate into a penchant for brash taunting and a perhaps unwise degree of provocative behaviour, Zone's wits and attitude holding well under pressure with the notable side effect that even when in way over his head he tends not to show it outwardly. Zone rarely speaks of his past, having in ways left it behind in that it tends not to impact on his current life, but at the same time parts of it linger on within him. Even when this affects him he usually keeps it hidden from most along with the darker side of himself it would expose, which is capable of truly frightening acts. That's what I've got so far, what do you all think? Missing anything? In need of improvement? Or maybe it's OK perhaps -------------------- |
