A familiar car pulled up to the curb between the Hamren house and the home of the Fosters.
Maddie hoisted herself up out of the driver's seat, pulled a briefcase type work bag from the back seat and wobbled her way up the Fosters' driveway.
Nothing too suspicious about her appearance, save from the small bump under her dress atop her usual flat stomach.

Cody peered out of the front window.
"Oi. Jay," he said, nodding towards Maddie.
Jason felt a lump in his throat, knowing who it was simply by Cody's inflection. He had told his cousin about everything Jolene had said to him that day in the Great Hall. He hadn't attempted to contact Maddie, but now...here she was.
"You talk to her," he insisted.
"You coward, no, I'm not talking to her. Go on, then!" Cody said, making a face as he pushed Jason towards the door.
Jason stumbled out onto the porch and gave Maddie an awkward wave.

"I think you're being flagged." Mark snickered after having opened the door for her and pointed at Jason.

"Erm...no, nothing...nothing's wrong at all," Jason started, suddenly looking like a scared little boy.
"Maddie is there...anything you want to tell me?"
Inside, Cody was shooing Emily away from the door.
"He should just come out and ask her!" Emily said, sighing as she started for the stairs.
"You don't even know what they're talking about, Emmy," Cody said, frowning.
Emily looked hurt at that. "Shows how much you know about me!" she said huffily.

"Not daunting enough to pick up the phone apparently." Maddie put in.
"I didn't say that." Maddie told him as she watched his anger grow. "You didn't bother to find out if it was yours...to even ask if I was okay...and now you're upset?"

Jason pushed out a forceful, long sigh through his nose, and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"Alright, I'm sorry. I should have asked, but---I was scared. To death. And anyway, I didn't even know you were back in town," he said, shrugging, knowing it was a poor excuse.
"I should have called," he added, looking at his feet.

"You should have." Maddie agreed. "If only to put your mind to rest. You didn't get me into trouble, Jay. We were safe. You know that. You're off the hook. If it makes any difference...if the roles were reversed. I wouldn't have called you either."

"Alright, well...you are pregnant, then?" Jason asked, looking relieved, but still curious nonetheless.
"Unless, of course,it's none of my business," he added, giving a resigned expression.

"I dunno about that. Is it your business if it's Alden's?"
Maddie smirked at that and pushed out a laugh. "Come here before you drive yourself up the wall." She demanded as she grabbed hold of his hand and forced his fingers between two buttons on her dress, over the bump in question to feel the material it was made out of.
"It's fake. I'm doing a newspaper column on the treatment of unwed mothers in the workforce. Relax a little. I'm not that careless."
