[Professor Luna Darani-Hamren]

It was during Jason's detention with Garrin when Luna let herself quickly into the office, her portrait of Lois in her left hand and a quilt in the right.

"The school is about to go into lockdown. Jason, they'll be wanting you tohead to your dorm. Other parents are coming to collect their kids. There's been an attack in the astronomy tower. Seven students are dead and there may be more missing." Luna replied.

"With the Headmaster away it's turned to chaos quickly. The students have been identified, but we found this quilt on the parapet and it no one on the roster seems to have the same initials. Do you know an 'SQ'?" Luna asked as she held up the tarnished quilt with the big pink letters stitched in accompanied by musical notes and patchwork records.

"Susie!" both Garrin and Jason said together, though Jason's voice was a bit more frantic.

"I'm of age," Jason added, shaking his head.

"Susan Foster," Garrin clarified, ignoring Jason for the time being.

"She's one of my Prefects, fifth year."

"That's definitely hers," Jason added, swallowing hard as he took a closer look at the quilt. The decor practically shouted the name Susie.



"Who have we lost? Are ours alright and accounted for?" Garrin asked, his voice deep with concern.

"I just saw Cody and Chayce on my way here," Jason put in.

"Then Cody will be gathering up the other Hufflepuffs as we speak," Garrin said, getting to his feet and double-checking for his wand.

"I'm not going to my dorm until I make sure Karissa is alright," Jason said firmly, taking out his wand as well.

Luna held up a hand at Jason as she looked over her list. "Well the good news is that her name isn't on the death toll, yet. But she was in one of the classes that was having exams in the tower tonight and the rest of the list has been counted for and their parents are on their way for the bodies. All except one other student, a Josh Taylor."

"All of our kids are accounted for. And Karissa is her dorm. Every house has had a loss, I'm afraid. The aurors are still trying to come up with some suspects, and since I didn't know if any of this might have Kieran's name on it, I sent Ethan to get Keely to take to the Sagebrook's, although I'll let Harry know that he may of picked a new girl this time." Luna nodded.

"Jason, I understand your concerns, but as long as you're a student here, you have to follow the student's rules. Man or not, you haven't been properly trained to work with the aurors, and you don't want to get in their way. This could be life or death for Susan." Luna tried to explain calmly.

Landon let himself in, shaking a plastic baggy with broken wand pieces. "A paid a visit to Ollivander's. This wand was sold to a Susan Foster. And it's about to be tested for fingerprints."

"The blanket belongs to her too." Luna nodded solemnly.

"I hate it, but I bet my salary she's already been disposed of. Bet they've already got what they needed to toy with us and done away with her."

"Landon." Luna warned, pointing at Jason.

"What? Jason wants to be an auror. He has to except the hard truths." Landon argued.

"Not now. Take this to Harry." Luna pointed at the wand.

"I won't likely be fighting either, Jason, and neither will Luna," Garrin pointed out.

"I've got my House to tend to, and we're too emotionally invested, if it is in fact, Kieran, or someone else we know."

"You're not going to help find Susan?" Jason asked, furrowing his brow.

"It's not my place. I'm Head of Hufflepuff---my place is here, protecting my students," Garrin said calmly.


"But she is your student!" Jason exclaimed, frustrated.

"And I'm not all emotionally attached to this girl, so don't think I can't go and fight too!" he added, giving indignant looks to Luna and Landon.

"You're not fooling anyone," Garrin said with a sigh, offering a small half smile to his nephew.

Jason's jaw twitched. He cared for Susan, quite a bit, but he wasn't necessarily in love with her. Still, if it were some other girl, he wouldn't have felt as much of a pull to help.

Garrin pulled on his cloak. "I'm going to check in on the common room. I'll be back shortly---just want to ensure that Cody's doing alright with the House. You'll be alright?" he asked Luna.

Luna nodded.

"Jason....we don't even know who to fight. We have no leads. No way of knowing who do this or where they could be. I'm sorry, but Landon's right. Typically these people don't keep hostages. It's too risky for them. Of ourse they'll want us to believe she's alive...simply to keep the upper and. And if you're not so emotionally invested then why aren't you just as gung ho to save Josh?" Luna asked.

"Because Josh is a moron," Jason replied at once without hesitation, but then he pushed out a gruff sigh.

"I'm very sorry he's missing too, but...I hate this waiting stuff."

"Jason," Garrin said, his hand on the door knob. "Your Head of House is going to assume you're missing. Go check in with your Tower. Now," he said, the calmness still in his tone as he motioned for Jason to follow.

"I'm going," Jason replied quietly, not looking any one of them in the eye as he left.

Garrin looked to Luna. "I love you," he said, before turning to leave as well.
