One could only imagine the surprise that Garrin underwent once he found out who Carter's guardian currently happened to be. It was none other than the quirky Landon Lawliet, Luna's partner, and one of the most interesting and bizarre people Garrin had ever met.

The owl to him read:

To Mr. Landon Lawliet

Landon,

I am writing to inform you of the behavior of Carter Nichols, whom I have just discovered to be under your guardianship. Carter was found skiving off class, publicly displaying affection in an open hall, and when asked to stop said behaviors, he responded with disrespectful comments and otherwise backtalk. I have assigned him a detention and taken points from Ravenclaw as a means of punishment.

I didn't know that you had taken someone in, Landon! Is he of any relation to you? I commend you for this action, yet I am sorry to bring you this news of his behavior. Carter seems like a great kid. Let me know if there's anything more I can do for you.
