So, we realize some things here at HSWW can get confusing
for some of you newbies out there. That's what this thread
is for. here are some of the questions that we want to answer
before we're asked. SO, I KEEP SEEING THIS STUFF ABOUT QUIZZES AND NEWBIES. WHAT'S THE DEAL?
For awhile, quizzes were a required part of hsww characters. you had to take them to pass classes and move up years. However, quizzes no longer have to be taken for anything, so if you see something about them being required, disregard it. Same thing with newbies. just ignore it.
HOW DO YOU GET A CANON CHARACTER?
If you haven't noticed, HSWW isn't a conventional site when it comes to canon characters. We don't allow canon battles, so if the canon is taken, you have to wait for the person to give up their character or go completely inactive before you can even ask.
Sometimes, if there's a period where many major canons are needed, we have an audition forum where you can compete for a canon. If this is not going on, pm me (Sara) with your name and your best sample rp. Chances are, if you join just to make a canon, you won't get it. We're a site that encourages originals just as much (if not more) than canons.
SOME INFO ABOUT THINGS ALLOWED AT THE SITE DOESN'T MATCH UP WITH THINGS I'VE SEEN IN OTHER TOPICS.
We're an old site (going since 2004), and sometimes old clutter doesn't get cleaned up the way it should. If you see things that don't match up, let an admin know politely and we'll make sure things are straightened up.
DO YOU GUYS ALLOW THREAD TEMPLATES?
Sure, go right ahead. i can't guarantee the person you role-play with will use one back because, for the most part, hsww's pretty old school. Most of our members don't use fancy templates.
ARE THERE WORD COUNTS FOR POSTS?
Nope! Some of our members like to post wordier posts, while others don't. it mostly depends on who you're rping with. If you want a wordier reply, you might want to mention that in the bottom where you put your credits or denote an OOC section.
NO WORD COUNT?... EW.
No, not ew, sillies. just because we have no word count doesn't mean we can't role-play. There are many of us on here that can give whatever we get. However, if you are posting really short roleplays you will be warned, as we do want some quality to our roleplay!
DO I HAVE TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION?
Well... yes and no. no-app role-plays are insanity, but our 'application' isn't a typical one. it's more of an in-depth profile and you don't have to provide a role-play sample.
YOU GUYS HAVE AN AWFUL LOT OF OLD THREADS AND ACCOUNTS...
Well, yes, because this rpg is four years old (not counting its time on msn), we've gathered some accounts and old threads. as of this moment we're undergoing a butt-kicking revamp to try and catch hsww up to more current sites, while archiving old topics and deleting inactive members. this, however, will take time and patience, because there are literally hundreds of them.
WE HAVE TO POST FIVE HUNDRED POSTS TO MOVE UP A YEAR?!
Yes, unless you contact an admin and request special permission to be in a certain year and they give you it for some reason. They may do this for you if you are already known to be a good roleplayer or some other reasons.
WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO USE SMALL FONTS?!
