[Landon Lawliet]

"You guys are gonna love this place. They have the best pancakes." Landon kept on as he led the men to the diner.

A young woman stopped at their booth to take their order.

"You know Landon, I didn't actually believe you had friends. What can I get you fellas?"

"Don't take this personally, but can I get a thinner waitress?" Landon asked her.

"You wanna rephrase that?"

"Okay. Can I have a slightly less plump waitress?"

Laura, who in all actuality was really only just normal sized sighed at him. "I'm sorry Landon, the thin waitresses refuse to serve you. They're tired of being sexually harassed. The one you call dog face and me are the only people left in the restaurant who will wait on you."

"Okay. We'll take dogface then. Like I said, it looks like they had to sew two uniforms together to fit you. Which defeats the purpose of a little yellow diner dress if you ask me..."

"What can I get you boys to drink?" She asked again.

"Sweet tea." Luca said slowly, staring stunned at Landon.

[David Hamren]

"Coffee. Strongest you've got," David replied, just as slow as Luca's response, giving the same, shocked expression, only with a little more disgust. He bit at his lower lip a little, shaking his head. Behind him, Garrin sighed.

"Lovely, Landon. Really, mate, you never cease to surprise me, be it bad or good. Right then, so...pancakes? Sounds really quite nice."

[Landon Lawliet]

"Okay I'll be right back." She smiled at the rest of his crew as she playfully smacked Landon in the head with her menus.

"Just get the food thunder thighs. Don't try to over do it." He sighed. "Waitresses. There should be some sort of screening."

Luca smacked his forehead with his own hand. "Landon. Shut up. Okay. There's nothing wrong with her and if there was, it doesn't matter. She's not here for your amusement."

[David Hamren]

"Seriously mate...she may laugh but you have got to be doing some serious damage to her sense of self-worth!" David remarked, shaking his head.

"Do you really want to go there?" Garrin asked his brother, chuckling softly. "And anyway, I get the sense that girl knows she's perfect the way she is. I wonder if she's single?" he said, giving David a meaningful look.

"She's not Allison," David said simply.

Landon stared wide eyed at Garrin. "You know, it's good thing that David already has shitty self esteem. I'd be seriously ticked off if you tried to set me up with a fat mouthy waitress. I used to date a pageant winner."

"Can't believe that didn't last." Laura rolled her eyes as she approached the table, serving plates balances on every hand, arm, and head area she could balance them on.

"Sweet Tea, Coffee, Pancakes, Syrup. And here's your plates and silverware. Can I get you anything else?" She asked.

"That'll do it, thanks." Luca nodded at her.

"Seriously David. You need a date. The kids wouldn't mind. And there are lots of nice single people. Caryn has lots of cute friends she can set you up with."

[David Hamren]

To that David groaned, and caught a glance from Garrin, which seemed to say 'what did I tell you?'. He sipped at his coffee and sent a moody glare to Landon.

"I don't have shitty self-esteem. I'm just...going through a rough patch. I met Allison's new...[I]fling/I]," he said, making a sour face.

"The other night. Yep. She had the nerve to have him round her place when I popped in to pick up Chayce and the boys. Jason offered to go in my stead but the courts won't allow it...."

"So---have a fling too, then!" Garrin put in, mildly frustrated with the ongoing griping from his brother.


"Nothing serious, just something...someone...to get your mind off of Allison for awhile."

David buried his face behind his coffee mug for a moment, then he set the mug down, and sighed.

"I don't know. Sounds a bit dodgy...I wouldn't want anyone trashy, especially not around the kids."

[Landon Lawliet]

Luca tried to be a little bit more compassionate. "Look, if I thought that this was just a rough patch, then I'd be telling you to go after Allison. But whether you like it or not, she's already moved on. She's already seeing other people, and it's to the point where they're visiting her in her home."

"It's noble to want to distract yourself with your kids. But none of your children are very young at all. They'll be growing up and going off, and then you'll be alone. Go out. Date. The kids don't have to meet anyone who isn't serious. Everyone at this table with the exception of you, has found more than one woman in their life to connect with. It happens everyday. Even if you're only after sex, please go date someone so that you're better company."

"Well said," Garrin remarked. "You're a bit of a downer, mate, I hate to say it, but we've all noticed. I want to see you happy. Not moping over the woman who is clearly not interested in you anymore."

David looked irritated, his mouth twitching as he struggled with what to say.

"You'd feel the same, I'm sure, Garrin...if Luna left you. Or you, Luca, if Caryn left you. And Landon...well...anyways, I'm sorry I've been such a nuisance. Truly I am. Maybe the company of a female would lighten up my mood a bit, eh?" he said, though he sounded doubtful.

[Landon Lawliet]

"Yes. And if you don't strike up a conversation with a woman before breakfast is over, I am purchasing a nice hooker, and I am sending her to your home." Landon threatened.

[David Hamren]

"Somehow I believe you would," David said, narrowing his eyes with disgust again.

"He would," Garrin agreed, nodding.

"Alright, alright...what of that...waitress girl? She looks rather young, I don't know...and how am I to know if she's single or not? God, it's been ages since I've done this sort of thing...."

[Landon Lawliet]

"The fat one?!" Landon looked disgusted. "Jeez man..."

"Well." Luca interrupted. "Look for a wedding or engagement ring. If she doesn't have one then you're alright to flirt. Speaking of...if you're still wearing yours...off with it."

[David Hamren]

"Jason convinced me to take that off last week," David admitted, rubbing the finger where the ring used to reside.

"And she's not fat, Landon. She's curvy...voluptuous...really quite attractive. Do you know how old she is?" he asked, peering over at her to try to catch a glimpse of her hand.

[Landon Lawliet]

"I have no idea." Landon shook his head.

"Okay then...Be quiet. We're making progress. We don't need your opinion of her, we're not scouting her for you."

"Fine, but this is ridiculous. Here we are, a table full of old men, staring at the waitress like we're twelve."

[David Hamren]

"I'm not staring at anyone," Garrin put in, frowning. "Just go talk to her, mate," he suggested. "If you're sitting here with all of us you'll be less likely to say a word, I know you too well."

David looked wildly uncomfortable at that thought. "i think she has some sort of ring on, but it's on her right hand, I think---er---unless that's the silverware she's holding that I saw...."

"Ugh, go on, then!" Garrin insisted, giving his brother a push.

"I'm sorry, Sir. Did you need a refill?" She asked, holding the pot of coffee up.
