JOINING & OOC

• READ all important topics before joining.
• Your registration name cannot contain numbers or special characters, just your character's first and last name.
• Signatures should be no wider than 500 px. If it is bigger, it will be removed.
• Fonts should not be smaller than the automatic size on the board. Small fonts make one of our admins want to tear her hair out.
• Don't bug people to post. Patience is a virtue
• Don't piss off the admins, we reserve the right to destroy you on this forum.
• Play nicely. Be nice to other users. Do not use derogatory remarks of any sort. Although you may IC, as long as it is clear that is your character doing so and is not an attempt to hit a soft spot OOC.

ROLEPLAY RULES

• No godmodding. What is this? It means trying to control someone else's character without their permission. If your character tries to hit someone, then you must make an ATTEMPT. In other words, write something like.. Bob swings his fist and tries to punch Nick in the face.
• No “Mary-Sues”. You can NOT be perfect.
• No metagaming. This is using information you learned OUT of character, IN character. You cannot take information you got from someones profile and use it IC.
• While there is no word count, you need to have well versed posts. You need to have a minimum of four sentences a post (Roughly a paragraph). There is no max length.
• Due to Invisionfree/Zetaboards rules, sexual conduct is NOT allowed. You may RP a little making out, or even suggest that your characters had sex but you may not roleplay it out. You can make out a bit, but no smex. SMEX IS BAD. NO SMEX. Kay?
• Keep cursing to the minimum. An occasional curse word is fine, but don't curse like a soldier.
• Respect OPEN vs. CLOSED topics please
• Spells are taught and bought here. Check out the help center for more information.
• Unforgivable curses can only be used by seventh years and older.
• If your character is caught disobeying hogwarts rules such as curfew or going into the forbidden forest, the professors can give you detention that you must attend.
• For disobeying MoM law you can get sent to Azkaban, however you can also escape from it as well.

NO DRAMA POLICY
Keep the Drama IC Only

From time to time, something will happen on HSWW that will make you angry, and the natural thing to do is to express that anger. We strongly suggest that you write everything down and keep it to yourself or share it with a close friend before making it public knowledge on HSWW.

If you can express your anger in such a way that no one will reply with anger, then you're safe to post. If it can't be done, don't do it until it can be done. We're all talented writers, so use your words wisely to express your opinion - that is the best way to get people to listen to you.

Verbal attacks, useless complaints, threats of leaving, sarcastic remarks, unfounded accusations and similar rants are handled thus:

Strike 1. Your post will be deleted.
Strike 2. If you post it again, you will be suspended for three days.
Strike 3. If you come back, and keep on posting drama, it will be a permanent ban.

However, we all lose our temper from time to time. If we didn't forgive each other, we'd never get anywhere. Even those who are banned have been welcomed back. Everyone at HSWW has something fantastic to offer the site; if you're willing to share your talents whether it be your writing style or your technical abilities, you will always have a place at HSWW.

Remember - every member has a voice. If something happens and you don't like it - start a poll. The facts are that if the majority of HSWW is unhappy with a change, the admins will have to work hard until the majority is happy.
