"I left it on the refreshment table while you were dancing with my sister's bottom." Susan admitted, ashamed.

"Alright. So. You're just not...feeling it anymore, is that it? I'm just confused, Sus! One minute I'm giving you a promise ring, the next...you're running the other way! I don't understand what went wrong!

Cody's words stung. His tone was ugly, and she had no real answer. It was her insecurities tearing them apart. She wanted more from their relationship, but the next step terrified her. Especially when she considered that he had his experience with Sandrine to compare it to.

There were tears slipping down her face now. She needed the in-between. "Cody, I don't know."

Cody sighed, catching sight of her tears. He hated it, even more than his own pain.

"Well when you figure it out, let me know," he said, not at all harshly, but with a tone of finality just the same.

Then he gathered up his things, and left without saying another word.

Later he could be found just inside the thick of the forest, beating the stuffing out of a rigged up punching bag, which was hanging from a tree. He stopped only when someone else came along.

"Hey," Alden said.

"Heard about what happened. You're a good fighter. We should talk."
