• special abilities & talents •
Here at HSWW, your characters have the option of having a
special talent or ability. Now, we're not saying we want gifted
people running around everywhere, which is why we have caps
on each ability. But if you feel an ability fits your character,
you have the right to post here with your character's name, a link
to their approved profile, and your reasoning as to why they
should have that particular ability.
Remember you MUST have your abilities and talents approved by
the board moderator and on this list. The board moderator has the
right to decline your request. Each ability and talent has a limited
number of "spaces" available. Only a few of the abilities do not, such
as apparating, which has unlimited spaces available for characters.
NOTE:- Please provide a link to your APPROVED profile
- Also give me an explanation why each ability or talent is relevant to your character's story! Such as why this power could help them out, etc.
- Only Seventh Years and above may have a special ability.
- Your character may only have TWO Talents
• special abilities •
(Learned ability)
As a Seventh Year, you may only claim up to three special abilities.
Special abilities are skills that are gained only through learning and
practice. These are different than talents that are with you from birth.
Animagus -- An Animagus can change into the form of an animal. The magic for this transformation is complicated and very advanced, and very few Wizards even attempt it. The Ministry of Magic keeps a registry of known Animagi because of the potential for misuse of this skill.

Jaden Coltum (adult)
Apparition -- Must have passed the test.
(unlimited - adults only)Arithmancer -- An Arithmancer is a person who is an expert on Arithmancy. The word is a combination of the Greek words "arithmetike," which means "of numbers," and "manteia", which means "divination."
(unlimited - adults only)Elementumist -- A person who has learned to control the core elements (fire, earth, wind and water)- without the use of a wand.

Bill Weasley (Adult)
2.
Rain Song (Adult)
Legilimens -- A Legilimens is a Wizard who has learned the art of Legilimency, sensing the thoughts of another person. Dumbledore and Snape are both experts at this form of magic. Voldemort is also an accomplished Legilimens.

Tristan Baddock-CallahanNecromancy -- The act of conjuring the dead for divination

Bill Weasley (Adult)
Occlumens -- The skill of Occlumency allows a person to block the efforts of a Legilimens to probe their thoughts and memories. A person who practiced that rare skill is called an Occlumens.
(10 adults)• talents •
(With you from birth)
As a first year, you can claim up to two talents. Keep in mind that
even though your character is talented, they should not have
perfect talent from day one. Let them get better at what they do as
time passes by.
Animal Empathy -- Similar to Empathy, but this only works with animals. The human cannot actually read the animals thoughts, but they can sense what the animal is feeling. Simple really ... If the animal is sad, you'll be able to feel their sadness. In addition, you'll also be able to see pictures of what they are sad about. But since animals can't talk, you won't be able to actually communicate with them through any kind of speech.
(4 Students and 6 adults - 10 Total)1.
Kenya Tivon (Adult)
Audiographic Memory -- The ability to remember everything that is said, in exact detail.
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total)Dream Premonitions -- Having prophetic dreams.

Destiny Parker (Student)
Empathy -- the ability to sense the feelings, thoughts, and experiences of another person

Dakota Moore (Student)
Invisibility -- Having the ability to turn invisible.
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total)1.
Rose DeWitt (Student)
2.
Aaliyah Mallory (Student)
Metamorphmagus -- Metamorphmagi are born with the ability to change their appearance at will. The word comes from the Greek prefix "meta-" connotating change, "morph" meaning "form," and "magus" meaning "wizard."
(4 students and 6 adults - 10 Total)1.
Ally Black (Student)
2.
Ciara Black (Student)
3.
Leliah Jones (Student)
Parselmouth -- The ability to speak the language of snakes and to command them is extremely rare. It is considered to be the mark of a very dark wizard, associated with Salazar Slytherin, who had this ability. Very few wizards are Parselmouths. Besides Slytherin himself, other known Parselmouths include Tom Riddle/Voldemort and Harry Potter.
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total)Power of Protection -- A special ability that is developed in a child while within the womb during early pregnancy. The fetus first shows signs of this natural talent by protecting the mother in times of danger. After the child is born, she/he continues to have the "Power of Protection".
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total)Qui-Vitar -- (
quiesco ut vita, sleep to life) One who has the 'natural born ability' to turn animals from a state of unconscious to awake and plants from fading to thriving; and back again.
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total) Seer(Premonitions) -- Another rare talent is the Inner Eye, the ability to prophesy. A wizard with this talent is called a Seer.
(2 students and 3 adults - 5 Total)Shadow Shifter -- This is similar to invisibility or apparition, but it allows one to slip into the shadows and appear somewhere completely different. You are born with the ability and it is always genetic, passed from mother to child.
(1 Students and 2 adults - 3 Total)1.
Claire Green (Student)
Shapeshifter -- Much like animagi, but is a born ability. A witch or wizard whom has this ability has a designated animal they can turn into from birth. As a baby, their animal could be a house cat and if they shapeshift, they become a kitten. However, this talent is a genetic one that did not seem real until around 10 years ago; when by some magical accident more people became shapeshifters. Even though the idea of shapeshifting has a been around for ages, it had not appeared in the magical world until now. This is a rare talent in which is usually kept fairly secretive; and only the ministry knows who has the power and anyone else the person tells.
(5 students and 5 adults - 10 Total)Telekinesis -- The ability to move an object with one's mind without any physical contact or a wand. Depending on the skill level of the user, there are many drawbacks with excessive use of this ability ... extreme physical weakening of the user and a severe mental strain, headaches and sometimes causing the user to black out depending on the weight of the object. One must make sure to take great care not to over exert themselves when using this ability because if the mind suffers trauma from using this ability they may risk hindering any progression of this ability.
(4 students and 6 adults - 10 Total)1.
Tiara McKnight (Student)
Telepathy -- Communication from one mind to another. This is different than Legilimency (the ability to sense thoughts). With telepathy, you actually communicate with the person. It's a two-way process. You think something at another, and they think a message back. Also, telepaths are born, not made. You cannot learn telepathy. (Please keep in mind, that since it's a two-way process, communication can only happen between telepaths. So, non-telepaths cannot hear thoughts from telepaths.)
(4 students and 6 adults - 10 Total)1.
Tristan Baddock-Callahan** If you want to request an ability as a 7th year, or a special talent (something that you are born with), then request the power here. Your name will be added under the power up above, if you are approved.
