Title: Knock Knock
Tiffany Gibson - July 4, 2010 03:18 AM (GMT)
Tiffany knocked quietly on Hamren's door, half hoping that he wasn't there, so she wouldn't have to talk to him. No one told her she needed to talk to him - it was that she suddenly lost her nerve and wanted to run down the hall as fas as she could, back to her dormitory.
She was having awful nightmares of late, and she wasn't sure they were entirely normal. She needed to talk to someone.

Garrin had been up up half the night before, and was about to consider stepping out for a quick power nap, when he heard the knock. He didn't grumble, but he did take in a slow, cleaning breath, and gave himself a quick mental pep talk, hoping it would double as an energy boost.
Before answering the door, he tapped his head with his wand, clearing all temporary fogginess from his brain.
With a small, friendly smile, he greeted his visitor.
"Miss Gibson,..hello. Come on in," he said, before gesturing to an open seat. He had made it a habit to not question a students' purpose of visitation until after he had invited them into the office, as to not make them think they were bothering him.

"Hello, professor ...er, sir." She wasn't sure what to call him. She walked into the room, clasping her hands together, while taking in the details of his office. She saw a chair, probably for students to sit in, but she stood there, rocking back and forth on her heels, wondering if she should wait to be invited to have a seat.

"Please, have a seat," he said, taking a moment before he sank back into his own chair, slouching only a little.
"So, what's up? You look as though you've got something on your mind," he said, smiling gently.

Tiffany took a deep breath and then blurted out, running all her words together, "well-you-see-I've-been-having-these-strange-dreams-well-nightmares-really-and-well-I-just-want-to-know-if-I'm-going-totally-insane-or-if-these-dreams-might-be-well-if-these-dreams-mean-something-I'm-in-trouble-and-I-shouldn't-be-bothering-you-huh-okay-I'll-go-now-bye!"
She took another deep breath and turned around to leave.

Garrin kept back a laugh, though he gave a faint grin. "You're sure you want to leave?" he asked quickly.
"Believe it or not, I did catch all of that---I've got good ears, you see, but I would like to know more about these dreams. And let me assure you, it's probably a safe bet to say you're definitely not insane."
