Title: if Columbus was wrong I'd drive straight edge
Landon Lawliet - April 3, 2010 03:28 AM (GMT)
Landon knocked twice and then entered without waiting for a reply.
He raised his hands defensively, betting too much on Garrin's personality that the man wouldn't strike him down where he stood.
"Now, now. I've not come to raise hell. You and I need to have a chat."
Garrin Hamren - April 3, 2010 03:44 AM (GMT)
"We'll talk in the hall," Garrin stated, narrowing his eyes as he held out his wand.
"Emily, stay here," he said, as the youngest of the Hamren clan was seated on the sofa, reading a book. The girl looked alarmed, but she nodded. "O-okay...."
Landon Lawliet - April 3, 2010 03:48 AM (GMT)
"Fine" He said as he led Garrin out to hallway.
"I take it you haven't read the newspapers...otherwise you'd be blaming me already. I need your permission to talk to your kids. To see if any of them know anything about Kieran Greyback. Carter was murdered last night, and I know for a fact that he's the wolf responsible."
Garrin Hamren - April 3, 2010 03:54 PM (GMT)
"What?" Garrin immediately shook his head. "You're...no. You're either lying, or you just think you're telling the truth, because you're completely off your rocker. Carter's not dead."
Emily poked her head out to the hall, swallowing hard as she sensed something very bad had happened. She chanced a look at the other man, but didn't know him. If he tried anything to hurt Garrin, though, Emily decided she would need to come up with some sort of plan---a quick plan---to get some help.
Garrin frowned in thought for a moment. He had been buried with work for the past several days---work and family---he had been too busy, really, to be bothered with the newspapers. What's more, he often didn't enjoy reading them because of the very thing Landon was now telling him. Death, war, destruction.
"I wouldn't dream of believing you until I've heard it confirmed from a more...reliable source.," he stated quietly.
"Emily, shut the door and go back in the office," he snapped, not turning around, and not taking his eyes of Landon.
Landon Lawliet - April 3, 2010 04:04 PM (GMT)
"You're so....I don't even know the word for it... Have I ever hurt you? Your kids? Given you over? Have I?" He asked as he stood with his feet planted on the ground.
"And you're right. He's not dead. He's lying in St. Mungos, ripped to pieces, and breathing from a machine, if you want to call that alive. Ask anyone. Everyone knows. Ask Luca, I'll go get him myself."
"You're protective of your family, and I admire that....but with all the wrong people! You don't understand me, not that you ever did...and you've got it in your head that I'm out to get you. You asked me to leave you alone, and I did. It's been years. Why would I say this unless I have to?" He asked him.
"Kieran is the son of Celia Darani and Fenrir Greyback. If that weren't enough to send out the red flags...Celia decides to take your kids less than a week after your kids come to school with him, after years of leaving you alone."
Garrin Hamren - April 3, 2010 04:15 PM (GMT)
Garrin felt dizzy, and he knew Emily hadn't shut the door completely, but he couldn't be bothered with that just now.
"Kieran...I...I knew it. I knew he was....hers," he muttered, sounding rather sick in his tone.
"He's friends with Keely," he managed to choke out.
"He killed Carter?" he asked, barely above a whisper. "How do you know it was him?"
There were several other thoughts flooding Garrin's mind---like rushing to the hospital to see Carter, to see for himself that the boy was dead, or soon to be, but he wasn't sure he wanted to see him that way.
Landon Lawliet - April 3, 2010 04:19 PM (GMT)
"This stays between us." Landon demanded as he pulled a thick brown envelope from his robes. "Luca tested the DNA found at the scene. Not only was it werewolf blood....which is also a creature you don't want around your kids....but it was a positive match for Kieran's blood in the werewolf registry."
"I didn't hold a wand to his head to make him sign it. You know Luca doesn't falsify documents. But there are the results...plain as day."
Garrin Hamren - April 3, 2010 04:26 PM (GMT)
"Fine," Garrin mumbled, nodding distractedly, although he had heard everything Landon had just said.
"And there's no helping Carter? I...I should go, see him....say my goodbyes, if he's really....." He couldn't bring himself to say it.
"I need to find Keely," he said instead, furrowing his brow. "And then I have to do everything in my power to ensure Kieran is removed from this school," he added in a growl.
Landon Lawliet - April 3, 2010 04:31 PM (GMT)
"Absolutely not. I told you this so you could protect the children here. That is all. You DO NOT alert anyone that you know this. Kieran can snap. If he did this to Carter...Keely has no chance what so ever....no offense, but she's much smaller. Unless you want to cart her off to the mortuary in a gift bag, I'd keep my mouth shut. Kieran is very young, werewolves age much differently than us. Right now, he's around five years old. Imagine the destruction when he's older.. Best to walk on eggshells for now."
He said as he turned to leave.
"Oh, and Garrin. I'd gladly give myself up for any one of your family. Including you. So stop treating me like your enemy. "
Garrin Hamren - April 3, 2010 04:37 PM (GMT)
"I'm afraid I don't feel as though I can trust you," Garrin remarked, letting his eyes meet Landon's for a moment.
"But in any case, I'm going to go find Keely...I just need to know she's safe right now, for my own sanity."
He turned his head. "Emily? Come on out here." The little girl did so, hesitantly, slowly opening the door before taking a step out to the hall.
She nervously eyed Landon, shyly folding her hands behind her back.
"I need to drop you by mummy's office for a bit," he said, tucking away his wand and holding his hand out for Emily to take.
