Group: Global Moderator Posts: 4,015 Member No.: 217 Joined: 18-September 05	In the year 2052 the United States government started what was to be called the nuclear cool, or for those who were born after it, merely The Cool. The nuclear cool was a cooling of the Earth�s atmosphere and crust, as well as, core through use of nuclear detonations just outside the atmosphere and close to the core of the planet in hopes of combating the effects of global warming that was allowed to go too far. The Earth then was nearly a desert, but one of concrete as the human population had gone beyond simple survival of the fittest, to survival of everyone. The nuclear explosions, not quite the Hiroshima type, were actually a scattering of particles that would allow less heat to penetrate the atmosphere and would in some ways destroy some of the core of the planet and in doing so cool some of the planet�s crust. The scientist were successful, too successful, they had managed all they had wanted and more. Instead of a cooling of the Earth so that it would support human, animal and plant life comfortably, as well as, stop the melting of the polar caps, it plunged the Earth into forty year nuclear winter, cooling the Earth and restoring the polar caps after a fashion, however, it took almost a hundred years total to get through The Cool and to clean up after it before humans could live on the surface. All work on the surface was done in mobile frames, or large machines that allowed humans to survive on the surface. Nuclear power kept the human race in energy and everything else we needed; we even managed to engineer thrusters and rockets that would work on the nuclear power sources and sometimes small batteries to keep from using fossil fuels for such things. Now it is 2250 and the human race is living on a world with restored polar caps and we are a cleaner race, we do not pollute the world as we did, in fact there are large governmental agencies that have larger budgets than the militaries that keep the environment clean and safe. However, with all other things put to the side, all of the old national grudges came to the fore and the mobile frames were changed into weapons and war once again reigned on Earth. Now, the North America and Canada are one union, the North Western Trade Union, a Republic run much like the old government of the United States. Latin and South America are run by a conglomeration of corporations that own the major tracts of land; they call themselves simply the Melting Pot. European nobles took pains to slowly gather power to themselves and took control of Russia, naming themselves, the European National Leadership or ENL. Asia, took care of it�s own and is ruled via council between, North and South Korea, Japan and China. The rest of the world, excepting Africa, which is now a united nation, with a council of presidents elected every decade, ruling the lands, are nations that choose to stay to themselves. Mobile frames or as they are called now, Mobile Weapons, can be purchased from various manufacturers. Vagrants, or as they were called of old, mercenaries are hired by the militaries of the world, sometimes for single missions, sometimes for campaigns, sometimes, these vagrants just attack and raid for their own reasons. For now the militaries of the world war with each other, the North American Union with the European National Leadership, Africa with Asia and so on. These wars are driven by something or someone, as previously these nations did not truly fight at all, they merely skirmished and often bloodlessly. It is a time of vagrants, a time when a man or woman can make their fortune, to make something of themselves that is bigger than what they were. Are you brave enough to reach for it?
