The AEF flagship, the Aeon, remained still under 250 meters of ocean, approximately 120 kilometers off the coast of New York, in the Central Nexus Nation. It had been this way for at least a month, the vessel operating in stealth mode by the command of her Captain. The response from the AEF had been swift, as soon as orders were given to deal with the newfound resistance at the UESA cooperation with Celestial Being, the Aeon had returned to earth.
The conflict had escalated, all around the globe, various factions had emerged with resistance, much to the dismay of the UESA Supreme Council. Presently with an increased crew count, mostly of AEF “Special Assault” squads, the Aeon was going to deal with the situation here on the eastern coast of Central Nexus. Two GN drive particle powered transport mobile assault transports had been drafted over from headquarters to aid in the scouting, and perhaps, crushing, of the resistance.
The young captain stood in the middle of the hangar, the two mobile transports behind him, and the 7 SA squads in front of him. Kade was briefing them, upon their mission today, and the objectives, one of which was to figure out the actual strength of the group. They knew it was large, that even some high ranking members were a part of it, but how many machines, how many men, was still not truly know. It was difficult to know that they would be fighting against previous comrades in arms.
When the resistance first appeared, Kade had been at home, Rina as well, since the vessel was undergoing another refit and repair, courtesy of more combat with Yggdrasil. He had rendezvoused with the Aeon when it was halfway to earth, bringing with him the extra AEF SA squads. Yet Rina had been nowhere to be found, and had not yet returned to duty. The thing was, he hoped she remained safe at her home, as it was one of the few places, that hadn’t had any resistance emerge, at least not yet.
”Al right, so you know what the objectives are to day, once more we are to enter the city, attempt to gauge the resistance’s strength, the return to the ship. We will conduct this with the maximum stealth. Avoid all contact with our enemy.” The map changed behind him, giving a detailed view of a 10 square mile area. ”This is the area we will be dropping in, previous reports stated a heavy presence, likely an outpost of some sort in one of the buildings.” Kade briefed.

”The area has already been cleared or evacuated, however to this date, there hasn’t been an innocent killed or injured in the fighting. I want to keep it this way, Understand?” Kade asked the squads before him, a unanimous ”Yes Sir” rang out through the hangar. ”Good. We have 30 minutes to mission start, suit up and load up. Return to the hangar in 20.” Kade ordered, ”Dismissed.” then he followed his the squads to the armory.
One of the magazines that was originally going to store the projectile cannon’s (when it was acquired) shells had been converted to fit the needs of the increased complement. They quickly worked in silence, as weapons were removed from the rack, magazines removed from the cases and loaded, suits of high grade armor being placed on, and side arms holstered. Kade didn’t like this one bit, to him it felt like they were going to war against themselves.
Much like a civil war, however he kept himself quiet as he loaded up with his own weaponry, the G36, lightweight, portable, and standard issue to the SA squads since many of the weapons were sitting in surplus warehouses. Each member of the squads further took the weapon and customized the weapon to fit their needs, adding flash suppressors and recoil compensators, loading the sight rails with various add-ons, and changing up the magazines up to 100 round double drums.
He placed the heavy armor over himself, feeling barley any of the 20 pounds of weight now resting on his shoulders. Before hanging the rifle on its strap and placing it over his shoulder. A quick double check that everything was secured, then he placed the handgun on his thigh holster, a set of spare magazines on the other thigh. Sure that everything was done, the armed captain made his way back to the hangar, and sat down in the middle, looking at the map once more.
Attempting to ingrain every single inch of it into his memory, where each road was, where each possible ambush point was, and where it would be best to take cover if something happened. Preparing for the worst, which hopefully would not happen. Gradually the rest of the squads filed back into the hangar, in about twenty minutes, all according to schedule, everyone was back, loaded, and ready. ”Is there anyone who is going to back down?” Kade asked

He knew the answer, but by protocol it was his question to ask. ”It will not be held against you, simply step back and you do not have to go” he stated, reading from the mental manual. No one backed off, as expected. ”If so, load onto the transports, squads 1 thru 4 will take the hawn red and the other squads will join me on hawk blue. Move out.” The shuffling of feet across the iron floor was the only thing that was heard as the soldiers proceeded onto the vehicles.
Sixteen and thirteen passengers on each one respectively, each one had enough seating for 20 soldiers in the back, but this had the added comfort, of having more “room”. Kade walked up and to the co-pilot’s seat, there he could observe their location as well as crucial information. The pilots and crew knew their roles, to take the squads in and out of combat, provide cover, and to ferry them safely to and from the combat zone.
One by one, the individual soldiers clipped themselves into their seats, there was silence as they did this, the gentle “clink” sound and the noise of the GN drive being placed into the craft was the only sound that reverberated through the entire hangar. ”Seal the door, Aeon, this is Hawk flight, proceeding to initiate phase 1.” Kade stated to the bridge. Elevators moved the two craft upwards, to two separate catapults, the port and starboard ones, closing the doors behind them as they ascended upwards.
Then completely sealing behind them, and filling the launch chamber with seawater. It would not do to launch an object from air into water at maximum speed, the impact against water would be like hitting solid steel or concrete. ”Hawk Flight, lines cleared, you are free to launch” The bridge stated to the two craft. The generation of the crimson GN tau particles dramatically increased, ”Launching” the pilot next to Kade stated.
The chamber before the craft opened, and instantly, the pull of magnetic acceleration was felt thorough the cabin. Each electromagnet pulled the craft forward then pushed it forward, moving it through the short takeoff catapult and into the dark ocean depths. Immediately after launch the two craft ascended upwards at a 60 degree, flying high into the sky, leaving the trail of crimson GN particles as they flew. That, was the drawback, they could be seen as they flew.

Kade looked up a bit higher than their current altitude, seeing good cloud cover, he asked the pilot to take them up. Behind at least some of the clouds, they would be safer, less clear to the naked eye, but still, the glow from the particles would render them visible. Five minutes later, a couple miles away from target zone, Kade announced they were enter the first phase. All around the cabin, in both vehicles, the chorus of sound of weapons being taken off safety was heard.
It was a swift descent, rapidly diving through the sky as to reduce their likely hood of being spotted, almost at street level they leveled off, and then touched down, enough for the ramp in back to open and touch the ground. Rapidly, the 7 SA squads poured from their vehicles, as when they were on the ground, it would be the most dangerous. After all 7 were the ground, they quickly made their way into cover. ”Phase 1 complete, we’re moving on to the second phase. Eyes alert.” He stated.
The atmosphere was thick, a heavy pressure pressing down onto every inch of his body as the squads broke off, forming individual clearing groups two groups of two squads, and one of three, for the larger buildings. Since this was an intelligence operation, silencers were in use, radio communications were kept to a minimum, everyone had already been taught their roles, which group would clear which building, at what time, and what to do if they found resistance.
Things were moving too smoothly, Kade thought as they entered the fourth house, if the area was supposedly a Resistance outpost, there had to be something that they could find. They opened the door and once more there was nothing, seeing that they quickly cleared out of the house and moved to the next one, stacking up at the door, while one of the squad members placed a night vision camera beneath the door to check for people.
Once more, it was clear, even the edges of the door… it was growing on Kade’s nerves, there was something here. After they opened the door, the world crumbled, from the house behind them, a sniper fired a round, unfortunately for the sniper, and fortunately for the soldier, it hit the center of the armor, pushing hit down on his face, but saving his life. From memorizing the maps, the two squads quickly filed into the building, securing the upstairs and downstairs, all the while attempting to remain invisible.

”Someone find that sniper!” Kade ordered, before running over and joining up with two other squad members, who were about to clear the basement. They opened it, walked down four steps, and to their horror saw what was beneath their feet, a series of tunnels, likely linking this house to many others, at the center of this basement, a control center, presently empty, and to the far right wall, explosives, half finished bombs in the making.
”Get to the controls, rip it apart, take the drives.” Kade ordered, he had the other member get an entire squad down to the basement while the other squad above was to work on the sniper. The sounds of gunfire being traded back and forth was heard coming from further off, apparently other squads had ran into the resistance as well. They worked rapidly, disassembling the components and taking whatever storage devices that were found.
Notified the sniper was taken care of, Kade ordered the rest of the group to come down, three men would guard the entrance to the basement while the rest would quickly break off into other groups of three. Then they would go through the tunnels and see about figuring what was in there, it was a scary thought, the tunnels were dark, damp, and completely unknown, so each step through them was made with great caution. Kade and his group emerged from their tunnel to another basement.
There were operatives here, working on something, he whispered to the other three, this needed to be taken care of, or at least disrupted. Three rounds were fired by the soldiers from the tunnels and three of the resistance were killed, however another spotted and opened fire into the tunnel. ”Smoke” Kade yelled. A small sphere, about an inch and a half in diameter was produced form the many pockets of one soldiers armor.
The only button on the sphere was pressed and then tossed through the tunnel into the room. The rapid fire of a machine gun was suddenly stopped, he couldn’t see, and did not want to shoot his own allies, but the gun was trained on the smoke. Rapidly Kade and the other two soldiers rushed forward there was cover spotted and they were all making a dash there. One of the resistance soldiers, mistaking a stunning grenade for a fragmentation grenade tossed it into the tunnel.

They were far away that they weren’t stunned by the explosion, but it caused Kade to drop his rifle, quickly he drew his sidearm, pointing it at the shade in front of him. Rapid shots of gunfire were heard, a familiar sound of the AEF rifles, ”Clear!” Kade heard from both sides, acknowledgement from his squad members that they had taken care of their sides of the room, and that it was safe. However whoever was infront of him, was not.
And the smoke still blinded him, resulting in blurs and shadows, blocking Kade from seeing the face, but what he did see was a silhouette of a pistol pointed at him. His opponent had no doubt see him as well, with his own sidearm drawn and pointed in that direction. ”Put down your weapon, you are outnumbered,” Kade said slowly to the figure. ”Kade?” the figure responded, he recognized that voice… what was she doing here...” he wondered to himself.
Kade kept the weapon trained on his target, this could be a trick anyways, ”Took you long enough!” the figure said slowly walking forward no longer armed. The smoke was clearing enough that he could see Rina standing there, wearing standard combat armor, and with her sidearm holstered. ”How was I supposed to know? How are you even here!?” he responded angrily, ”What, you don’t receive the message from headquarters?” she responded in the same tone, a mockery of him.
”It’s a mess over there, I’ve only been getting bits and pieces of information” Kade tossed Rina his sidearm, ”Take it, you’ve always been the better shot” he told her as he picked up his rifle from the ground. ”Ok, tell me what you’re doing.” she “ordered” Kade. ”Clearing houses, there’s a resistance outpost somewhere around here, we need to find it and take all the information that it contains. Maps, reports, anything.”Kade stated.
”You mean these?” she asked, tossing Kade the messenger bag she had, he quickly looked through the bag, ”Yeah, those.” Kade said, ”Ok everyone, returning back through the tunnels, we’ve completed our main objective, secondary’s will need the transports. “ Kade said over the radio. ”Break contact, and return to LZ” were his orders. The sounds of urban combat were never appealing to the ears, but at least they didn’t have to remain on the ground much longer.

The first two groups were lucky, they could easily break off from combat, Kade’s group was one of the two, they simply popped smoke, threw stun or frag grenades, and quickly backed off, disappearing into the darkness or leaving the building they had presently been fighting in. Rina rushed alongside Kade, moving quickly with the information in hand. Over her shoulder, she carried a standard issue variant of the G36. For her, it was good enough.
She was, unlike Kade, a good shot, and for the past three weeks, had been called to duty in New York, her first thought had been to fight on the usual side, for her ideals, following the AEF, however on a second thought, it would be much better going to the UESA defectors, working from the inside, perhaps feeding them false information. And to this point it had worked, encountering Kade had been planned, but when he showed wasn’t.
Still the things were how they are, no one can change the past or the present, but what they do now in the present can impact the future. And that they would have to do, the promise of the original alliance to be focused on preserving the peace, eliminating the terrorism that had popped up over the years was still the goal of the AEF, to preserve the peace with hopefully peaceful means, but with force if need be.
The third group, the largest squad had entered an apartment complex, and was presently pinned down by enemy fire, one of them had been injured by a lucky sniper shot, hitting one of the soldiers in the right arm. Assistance to them was already on the way, in the form of the two gunships and Kade’s squads, which were closest. The other group of two squads was going to secure the landing zone for the vehicles, as the two could not land in the apartment complex nor any other street, due to their size.
As they moved through the streets Rina informed Kade about the resistance plans, and that the squads were presently in one of the planned ambush zones, but even if they wanted to escape and leave, which they didn’t, there were sites scattered along that had been alerted by the gunfire to prevent their escapes. Kade’s squads entered from a side door to the complex, attempting to flank their enemy and allow the three squads down near the courtyard to relocate.

The two squads rapidly moved in, the flowerlike bursts from the firing of weapons lighting up each region. Two grenades sailed forward from behind Kade, landing near the gunners that had been pinning down the group below. They turned to run, then the explosive device detonated, exploding in a threatening fireball of red and yellow fire, fragments were sent in all directions, those who were running were no longer. They lay dead, likely killed by the pressure wave.
Fragments of the grenades heavy other steel shell littered the walls of the apartment complex as the squads proceeded to move forward, the well trained marksman firing on the move. Their opponents may be UESA soldiers who had defected, but the AEF was the best, and these were some of the best soldiers in the AEF. The resistance soldiers were fighting squads on completely different levels, an AEF soldier had to at least be better than a regular sharpshooter.
Kade fired as well, he wasn’t a soldier but a commander, but he too had his share of practice and training, but still, Rina would always best him when it came to targets, accuracy, and basic weaponry skill, however she lacked the thing that would make her a good captain, the ability to be concrete in her orders, to make it that there was no other choice for the crew. Sure she could handle it while Kade was off the ship or bridge, but that was in a safer less than combat situation.
The gunships flew down rapidly, armed with auto-cannon; they raked the roofs where gunfire had been confirmed. The steady banging sound, akin to a man knocking on a metal door, signaled the launch of each 44mm shell through the air and into the building. Then, their strafing complete, the two flew upwards and back into the air, hoping to keep the element of surprise for the next time they were called upon. Resistance on the ground was quite reduced after the run, however was still pronounced.
However they weren’t going to risk another attack from the air, the squads were moving about, getting into new combat positions, now was no time to be figuring everything out; right now it was about getting back to the LZ. But the resistance was in the way, and for now, they would be fighting out, if this dragged on for any longer, they would be drawing more enemy reinforcements. The longer it took, the more of a chance of getting people injured, even innocents or anything else.

The squads that had been on the ground floor now joined the squads on the upper balcony, having fought their way through a couple hallways, and all the way up the stairs. However the way out had been kept clear, so they were now able to quickly run back to the LZ. ”End phase 2, beginning phase 3.” Kade stated, and the vehicles quickly descended down from the sky, returning to pick up the seven squads from the ground.
The wounded soldier, having had quick first aid on his shoulder, walked onto and sat down in his seat, ready for the next step of the mission, just another simple show of the will of the AEF. The squads quickly rushed onto the vehicles, a rapid spitting of bullets from a light machine gun rang out against the walls of one of them. The response was heavy handed, from the right gunwell, a 20mm cannon shot out for rounds and the weapon, as well as its gunner, were permanently silenced.
The thing that Kade knew, he could trust the Aeon’s crew and the AEF in general, they had joined knowing they were going to keep the peace, and it had been stated that they would use any and all methods to keep the peace. The soldiers who joined knew that Celestial Being would be a possibility, especially since they reappeared. Anyways, Kade couldn’t doubt General Redfield’s choices, the man was experienced, he could see through the masks of people to their true views.
Rear doors pulled themselves up, closing as the vehicles rapidly ascended back into the air; Kade himself was once more in the co-pilots seat, this time looking over the maps. Unfortunately for them, instead of simply flying down, firing the missiles and destroying the target area, was no longer going to be enough, the discovery of the tunnels below would survive, even if the building collapsed on top of them. The basements here were designed as safe areas in case of danger, separate from the rest of the house.
”Attention everyone, we are modifying phase 4, instead of strafe the squads will be returning to battle, all the buildings in this area must be cleared, any tunnels will be searched, then collapsed. Understood?” Kade asked. ”Yes sir!” was the unanimous response once more. Kade then looked at Rina, who had grabbed an extra set of weaponry and armor from the locker on the vehicle. ”I take it you’re coming with us.” Kade said, before turning back to face forward with a smile.

Rina nodded to Kade, she had been among them for a while, and while she could understand their dislike for Celestial Being, she couldn’t help but notice that all that were a part of the resistance appeared to not care about peace or any of the concepts related to it. Or simply like the innovators, their goal was to destroy Celestial Being, not keep the peace, as was the goal of the UESA. Banking through the air, the vehicles neared the destination.
It had been confirmed this region was cleared of civilians and innocents, the reason that Kade was able to order the missile strike, and still was able to allow destructive tactics. However they would need to know this, these locations were people’s residences, this was going to be expensive, to all the population, to repair from the damage. So Kade made sure everyone knew, fire only at targets, only when you are sure, and keep damage to a minimum, they were collapsing the tunnels, not the buildings.
Once more, the two transports dived downwards, using speed to both hide their approach and to provide safety. The ground below rapidly grew larger, details becoming clearer as the vehicles descended to the ground with their live cargo. Two bright flashes in two different locations suddenly came up, within moments the two transports were rattled with what could only be flack; anti-aircraft artillery. ” ECO! Find the source, I want to know what we’ll be going up against.” Kade stated.
”Everyone else, buckle up, it’s going to get even bumpier.” Kade told the troops, a couple of which hadn’t secured themselves, but now had. ”Can’t identify, however I have the locations.” the ECO stated, handing Kade a small sheet of paper, hastily written with the coordinates where the artillery was being launched from. If they really had such heavy caliber guns out here, the resistance was even better equipped that they had expected.
The aircraft quickly touched down, the two formed a wall with their fronts against possible enemy fire while the soldiers from behind quickly evacuated the vehicle. They then quickly found themselves cover, unlike the earlier position, they apparently no longer had the element of surprise, this was going to be full on urban combat, house to house and all over the street. It didn’t help that they were doing this at night, although it did give them a slight advantage, it simply didn’t help that any gunfire would make them stick out.

After unloading all the soldiers from the rear, the two gunships quickly took off, flying high into the air, dodging another set of anti-aircraft artillery rounds and disappearing behind a cloud bank. From there, the crew in the vehicle would monitor the progress, attempt to detect any enemy movement, and hopefully give the ground forces the advantage that they needed. The ground soldiers, from their position in an alleyway began to secure their present position.
Gradually, one at a time, always keeping the majority of the weapons pointed at the other houses, they began to move up the street to the first building. What had once been a convenience store on a corner, it appeared to have had windows all around, decorative letters scripted in gold and black paint, however this had apparently been long smashed in. The interior was much worse for wear, there were spent shell casings littering the floor.
As the AEF soldiers cautiously stepped into the building, Kade could see the racks with food and supplies had been completely ransacked. Evidence of a fight between two soldiers was seen - one of them was dead on the floor, stripped of anything and everything that had even the smallest of use. Kade sighed, in his mind; this could not be allowed to go on any longer, there were greater threats, and a foolish “civil war” like this one was not going to help their already weakened numbers.
”Upstairs, we’ll go to the next building by roof, stay hidden, stay stealthy.” Kade stated, the rest of the soldiers nodded in acknowledgment. Cautiously, the squad of twenty AEF members made their way upwards, taking care to check and double check every position in the building, making sure there were no threats to them there, before the squads could make it to the third floor, a low rumble, the shaking of the ground, signature of a heavy machine.
They listened closely, the timing between steps was similar to that of a Tieren, if he was concerned, Kade made no sign. ”Keep moving, get onto the roof, we should be able to disable the cameras with precision fire.” he stated, then quickly made his way up higher in levels of the convenience store. Through the tinted windows he could see the machine making its way down the street, not so delicately probing the buildings for signs of the AEF troops.

However the captain knew, saying the words were easy, having the opposing machine in the right position to destroy its cameras was difficult at best, however that was where the gunships came in, they still had their load of missiles, all the AEF troops had to do was figure out a way to get out of the blast area. If they called in GN-XIII support, that would escalate the confrontation, something that was quite undesirable.
In addition to escalating the confrontation, it would make this much more visible as well as cause much more damage than a simple missile strike. It was then, the twenty soldiers now all in the hallway, standing together, that Rina came up with a the idea. There was a large building not so far down the street, they had carried enough explosives to collapse the tunnels, with a bit of precision work, the building could be forced upon the Tieren when it not so delicately searched the buildings with its arms.
”Gunship distract the Tieren, a single low sweep, then get out asap.” Kade ordered, before turning to everyone around him. ”As soon as you hear the gunship open fire, make a break for the next building, we’ll cut ourselves through from there. Snipe, move up, inspect the roof for danger.” He quickly issued orders, before preparing himself for the time. He only hoped the gunship’s quad 20mm autocannon would be enough to dissuade the Tieren or at least get its attention.
”All clear up here.” the sniper quietly relayed. Kade nodded, ”Get ready to move.” Kade stated before he himself paused and took a moment to take everything in, envision what he was going to do moments before he actually did it. It descended rapidly, the gunners quickly acquiring their target, recognizing it as one of the anti-air machines with the large cannon attached to it. They still hadn’t spotted the second one, but made their assault.
All four barrels blazing, the machine descended in a hail of 20mm cannon shells, multiple ones impacting themselves on the shields of the Tieren. At the same time, the 20 soldiers ran from rooftop into the upper stairs of the second building, quickly descending downwards, and immediately entering house clearing mode. Having more bodies in the room both made it easier and more difficult, there were friendlies to move and to know the location of.

Yet they were able to get more coverage, seeing more of the area at the same time, and being able to prevent some of the more unexpected surprises. All was going according to plan, with the exception of a resistance defense post, one of the many they were supposed to destroy in the strike. Its window mounted machinegun, apparently had spotted shadows, and shadows, referenced to not having any men in this building, caused them to open fire.
A large hail of lead flew into the building, causing the entire squad to hit the floor, effectively pinned down by the gun. ”Sniper down a floor! Gunners, get up to the window, suppress when possible!” Kade yelled out his orders, there was no room for any questions, they were absolute, all the while, dust from the pulverized walls, flew about the room in a white haze. ”someone pop smoke!” Kade yelled over to a far corner of the room. ”popping!” was a quick response from one man.
Once more a small spherical device dispersed a cloud of concealing smoke, quickly covering up the locations of the AEF soldiers. While the enemy gun still fired, they fired much more randomly, attempting to hit something through the smoke, and hit they did, various random objects scattered all over the room of the building and hitting one of the soldier’s flatly in the chest of his armor, knocking the wind out of him as well as throwing him backwards and knocking him to the ground.
Swiftly he was pulled backwards and out of further harm’s way, as the armor plates are only good for one or two hits, it was best not to try his luck again. Rina meanwhile had silently moved to the roof, adding a charge of C4 high above as well as keeping an eye out for the Tieren, which was slowly moving forward, attracted by the gunfire, but checking each building in the same manner that it had been much earlier, with bursts of gunfire and blades through the windows.
”We need to move quickly, get to the next building, blow a hole in the wall.” Rina yelled down, drawing the attention of the gun, which sent another storm of lead flying upwards towards roof, spraying shards of steel and masonry into her face. The gun was quickly silenced by the sniper two floors below as Rina herself made the way back downwards, stating that the Tieren was only two houses away and they needed to hurry out.

Kade and some other squad members had already finished setting the charges below and quickly ordered everyone downwards. The bunch moved through the hallways down to the tunnel basement, their rifles were raised, as one by one they filed through a single tunnel, weapons aimed forward, pointing to protect against whatever might be ahead of them. The rumbling of the ground was much greater here. Their movement was slow, but steady.
After entering the other room, the squad quickly sought cover, once more gradually ascending the steps, to the roof, opening themselves into another small apartment and, a slight peak around the corner revealed multiple squads of resistance soldiers, loading up for operations. Kade from the front motioned for multiple stun grenades. His hand signals stated a total of 2 second detonation time, enough time for them to toss and hopefully not allow their targets to not realize.
After this it would be standard procedure, keeping their targets under guard, away from their weapons and their ability to fight back. The stun grenades were rapidly tossed up, a total of 4, timed approximately ¼ of a second in between a toss. Then just as rapidly as they had tossed the weapons, the door to the basement was quickly pulled shut and they braced for the impact of the stun grenades. The shockwave was not as great through the walls but the squad still needed a moment to readjust.
Then they stormed upstairs, yelling for all to drop their arms (as if they hadn’t from the sudden concussive blast). The situation was quickly under control, 9 resistance soldiers were now under AEF control. However they realized during all this, that the Tieren had stopped moving, only the sound of the battery and the slight hiss of exhaust from the machine’s fans told them it was still there. ”Stay here” Kade said before quickly rushing down the stairs.
He climbed back through the tunnel, the dirt from the passage slightly damp and sometimes falling onto his now worn armor. Emerging in the previous building, Kade quickly rushed upwards, he took to a window, looked up at the Tieren. Certain he wanted to get its attention, he placed a piece of c-4 on the ground, before firing his assault rifle at the unit, emptying a quarter magazine before running backwards, hopefully it had pulled the machine close enough.

He found it ironic, that they, the official AEF forces, the elite of the UESA were fighting more like resistance fighters than the resistance themselves. After that tieren was finished, they would have the two transports quickly come down and pick them back up. There was more than enough information gathered in this single night, especially the confirmation that they had more than a couple GN-XIIIs and some surplus units.
The telltale signs that the building above him being well ventilated with machinegun holes was heard, as he yelled through the tunnel, detonate. A series of timed detonations, first two at the lower floor, then multiple on the upper most fourth floor detonated, toppling the building over in a controlled collapse. Because the Tieren had been swiping its blade through the building, the machine was caught in the blast and pulled down because of its interaction.
At this moment, the two transports decided to come down and take the AEF troops back to the Aeon, away from the present battlefield. It would not be long before even more resistance forces were found and they were caught in more and more intense firefights throughout the zone. The information that they acquired today was more than enough to give them the right to order more forces into the area and hopefully secure the zone and return, at least one part, to a semblance of normality.
The transports came down quickly once more, their rear doors dropping and troops rapidly poured into the vehicles, amid this, more smalls arms fire erupted from various locations all over the street. If the armor plating on the transports were any thinner, it would be likely that no one was going to return home this night. However the walls were thick or angled enough, the two were take the punishment from the resistance forces.
Once more Kade climbed back into the co-pilots seat, he was the last one to depart, which was the signal for them to take off and return to the Aeon. Valuable information was on board as well as one injured AEF solider. As they took off and quickly headed upwards, the pinging sound of lead hitting steel was constantly heard, thoughts that they were in the clear because the sounds ceased and their ride steadied out were smashed.
