Administrator Group: Admin Posts: 675 Member No.: 1 Joined: 25-April 08	Is GC the Right Place for Me? I would hope so! We love new faces and characters at Gaimen City. However, there are many different approaches to roleplaying and you must definitely read the following to make sure GC is suitable for you. :: This board may contain adult themes and content. If you're not cool with this, or underage, this is probably not the place for you. With this in mind, we do not want characters below 18 years of age being created at this time. :: Effort is required in all your posts. We aim for around the 400 word mark and above. Sometimes you fall short, sometimes you go way over depending on the thread in question, but consistent posts below that approximate figure are not acceptable. One-liners are, obviously, right out. :: You have to post at least once during the seven days within a week with each character you play. If you lack posting for two weeks or more, your character will be archived. If your character is archived, and you wish to rejoin, then you can "come back" once. If it happens again ... well, hardly seems fair to continue bringing your character back, when archival can be avoided by the following ... We do understand that people have lives outside of the board. If you are going to be out of town, busy with final exams, or something else that might keep you from posting for a awhile, please post a message in the OOC forums or send me a message. Otherwise we will think you are no longer interested. :: We love community presence! We have a massively active OOC forum. We definitely encourage participation in the games and conversations!! Sure, that's not everyone's bag, but it's the kind of spirit we promote here. The OOC forum cannot be viewed by guests. Rule Book I know there are sometimes misunderstandings when it comes to rules, and I'm pretty laid back about most things. Please familiarize yourself with the below rules to keep things running as smoothly as possible. :: You are not allowed to kill anyone's character, unless both parties have agreed to it in advance. Once a character dies, he or she cannot return. In the same breath, you can't have your character speak for or create actions for other characters you are playing with, unless both parties have agreed to it in advance. This is called God-moding and it's just so not cool. This also includes "knowing" things about other characters that yours could not possibly know. :: Libertines cannot be NPCed. Period. They will contact you. If you want interaction with a Libertine, PM Anya at this account. :: Don't taunt, mock or make any other member miserable. Do I really need this rule at all? :: Avatars can be up to 200x200px and signatures should be no more than width 450 and length 250. (450x250px, 450 being from left to right, 250 from top to bottom). :: 'Posting Templates' are discouraged. :: Don't post in forum games/plotters/etc with your character unless you've been approved. :: To keep female character numbers down, you must play 1 male role to every 2 females that you play. (Ie, if your first two characters are female, you must ACTIVELY play a male part before you can take on another female.) You can play as many males as you want without having to fill the female quota. The absolute maximum of roles any player can have is 6. Staff have the right to refuse you more characters if you are not keeping up with the ones you already have. :: GC is Fluid Time. However, please bear in mind that if you start a thread on, say, the 21st of September, that is the date that situation occurred in-character. Now obviously, this doesn't mean that the date you finish the thread on is the date the thread finishes - that's just silly! But to keep track of timelines and situations, please remember the rule: 'date started, date happened.' This is especially important with character pregnancies. We are aiming for realism here ... and children are born (on average) 9 months after conception. So if you write a thread stating the character is pregnant, do mind that it's going to take 9 months for your character to be full term and give birth. You do not require staff permission to have your character fall pregnant, but we do need to be notified so we can help you keep track of your character's pregnancy to ensure that things remain as realistic as possible. :: Use your head. Bomb instructions / pedophilia / etc result in banning. No exceptions to this kind of extreme content, it is not welcome. The Cbox This is the hub of conversation at GC. Please read the below to familiarize yourself with a few specifics regarding the cbox. :: This a a premium cbox. It will refresh automatically and you are able to register your name so you have an individual identity and cannot be impersonated. These accounts are automatically purged after 3 months of inactivity. :: We regard more than 3 posts in a row as flooding. Please do not flood the cbox, it's annoying and people can miss earlier posts. :: Please use your head when posting in the cbox. It's not a stage for attention-seeking or complaints. If you have any issues, you need to contact a member of staff through the PM system. Remember cbox content is one of the first things a guest to GC will view. :: If you abuse the cbox you will receive 3 warnings before you are suspended from posting. Repeat offenders may have cbox posting privileges revoked entirely. When Registering So you've read everything above and you like what you see? This is your next step. :: Do so with the first and last name of your character. Registering as anything else will likely result in deletion (what, you might be a spambot!) Or, if you have already posted your application, it will be changed for you. :: PLEASE check the members list - if you register with a name already in use by another character, you will be asked to change it. Sure, there are gazillions of people called James and Catherine and Robert, but for simplicity's sake we do not want multiples on GC. (The following names do not appear on the member list as they are in a hidden member group. They are also unavailable: Bianca, Brandon, Delilah, Elizabeth, Gianna, John, Jonah, Kurt, Lena, Lorenzo, Mary, Noelle, Noemie, Peter, Trist and William.) :: You cannot create a Libertine. In the future, this will be an option, but it is not at this stage. However, if you'd like your character to be a sympathizer or funneling information to them, please contact Anya for approval. :: No more assassins, gun runners or employees of Beedles Books are required at present. Please choose another occupation. The Staff The 5 staff members hail from 4 different countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada and the USA. Chances are there is at least one of them online when you are.
