So after some doubting I decided to upgrade my machine to some newer specs.

At the moment I am running the following:
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1,86 Ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
Normal harddisks , Default compaq motherboard.

As soon as I get all the parts I will be having the following :
Asus Motherboard P9X79 Pro - Socket 2011 (Ordered today - €252.98)
OCZ SSD Vertex3 - 120GB (Ordered Today - €157.98)
CoolerMaster Case HAF 922 (Ordered Today - €96.99)

Intel Processor Core I7 -3820 (Still waiting to be released - €255,79)
Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 (4x2GB) (Will order it when the CPU releases - €52.30)


I will keep the same videocard at the moment since I will expect that it will be doing alright for the moment :
ATI Radeon HD5770 1 GB

And I am hoping that my Coolermaster PSU of 430WATT is still good enough, else I will need to buy one of those as well smile.gif

m8, wait for Intels Panther Point Chipsets (Z77) and Ivy Bridge Processors (Core i7 3770K)

Less Energy consumtion, better OC results, cheaper mainboards, no quad channel memory -> cheaper = while the performance will be equal or better!

Only take a 2011 socket if you want to buy / need a six-core CPU.
IMO 2011 with a Quadcore is a waste of money.

Ivy Bridge + Panther point are scheduled mid April '12!

Somehow i've got a feeling the current PC wont hold till April smile.gif

And if it goes the same way as Intel launches these CPU's it will be July / August smile.gif

Almost no supplier can get there hands on them before 2nd of March, still I found one who hopefully gets them the first week of February.

Still thanks for the advise.

Besides that the memory modules im getting changed, will now be Corsair Vengeance (4x4GB) since they are only 20euro more expensive.

To bad I need to troubleshoot.

Hardware looks okay, but somehow my computer freezes after some time.
Temp looks fine, so hopefully it is a faulty driver causing this.

Never mind my last post , think it has been fixed smile.gif

Instead of a freeze after 1 hour it is now stable for the last 7hours smile.gif

Stability issues are usually wrong memory timings in the BIOS. Also make sure you run your RAM at the right voltage.
