New 22.214.171.124 DFX exe in preliminary testing
Unfortunally I don't have the game. Looks like they skip the DFX 2 beta by testing new things with this patch.
The last version of DFX was 126.96.36.199 Final JO Version was 188.8.131.52 Fingers crossed on JO 184.108.40.206!!!!
WARNING: Must be PC experienced, unfinished executable!
For those technical enough to back up their current EXE and copy this one to the right folder, you can test it out for us. It's intended to be compatible with the current EXE and offers a few new features and improvements. Pending the test results, these changes will become available as a regular update.
New Resolutions 1440x900 & 1920x1200 (must delete GAME.CFG file)
Notes: If you have any issues moving, delete PLAYER.SAV file
Squad tags are partially working in the current EXE. This exe has the tags show up in a few more areas and colors them. At the end of game, you can sort by any column just by clicking at the top of the column.
I highly recommend you either backup your current EXE or plan to uninstall and reinstall and update the game. You should have PC file system experience before testing this executable. If you care about your settings and/or completed single player missions, you may need to also backup your player.sav file.
good job, missed 1680x1050 and an 16:9/16:10 Field. Replace the Widescreen_Field, maybe. (Pull Down or something like that)
# 1440x900 doesn't work here, (game.cfg deleted, new res shows up, but wont change)
# Expansions now visible?
Oh yeah, this EXE should automatically support all aspect ratios as long as you pick a mode with that aspect ratio.
WIDESCREEN! YES! Tells me we'll get a proper widescreen support in DFX2!
The network requirements of this EXE are higher than the shipping EXE. We are asking people to test this EXE because some connections might choke. If this is the case, we'll add a switch or test the connection. The intended end result is that DFX gets updated to better utilize modern hardware and better support the new NovaWorld Community squads, and everyone is happy.
If you want a dramatic test of what the sync code and higher bandwidth is addressing, try doing a running jump to a railing. On the old EXE you'll land on the railing, then get yanked down to the ground. There are other advantages as well, but it all needs testing with an open mind.
