Title: Audio gear

Playing with good headphones on does make a difference  I was wondering what audio gear has everybody got?

I have AKG K-271 MKII. Essentially they are sealed studio headphones, so they might not be as immersive or subwoofer-y sounding as hi-fi headphones in the same or higher price range. But they do actually sound extremely well and have excellent stereo imaging - the latter helps immensely on JO because the sounds are very directional. So if you are playing on a server with tracers off, or if you are flanking and do not see tracers because the gunfire isn't directed at you, it is still easy to locate the shooters. And they are comfortable, too. I got them for 166 euro at Thomann some years ago. If you are looking for good-sounding sealed headphones, they should probably be your choice.

I'm not fan of loudspeakers till I can afford a really expensive setup, so at home I just have a pair of cheap crappy ones :D

I've got a crappy £5 headset which I never use. I only really use headsets for teamspeak which we never use any more. Speakers work fine for me :)

The microphone has come off and one ear piece is also falling apart. But they're very comfy and the sound is perfect for Joint Ops ^_^

The open design does result in a lack of bass tones, so for music I prefer my speakers with sub, but for gaming I always use the headset.

Me too, always a headset.
You can never get the same skill-level with speakers. Unless maybe if its a surround system....

5.1 surround sound via Creative speakers. 7 years old but still good. :)

Bwa, I got a 2.1 Ozaki speaker set and I'm satisfied with the sound quality of it when playing FPS games. I only use my basic Logitech headset when on TS.

A lot depends however on the size of your room and the noise it produces when using speakers as sound output.
