A bit of advice on your persoanl experiences on Firewall and AntiVirus.

Currently trialing two Firewall and AntiVirus packages. ZoneAlarm and Nod.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on these two with reagrds to resource usage, going wrong, browsing and gaming etc

I am using Avast (free version) which worked fine for me for over a year now. Prior to that I used Norton which was terrible.

I haven't used Nod myself but I heard that it was very good from several people who had used it (Rico is one of them) :)

Im using NOD since 2004 and its the best thing ive seen so far.

The smart security version is the complete solution u need, with a anti-virus, firewall and anti-spam module.

I can only speak about Nod32. I use it for at least a year now and i haven't had ANY problems with it. It doesen't take much resources and it doesen't effect gaming at all. Its the best Anti-Virus i have ever tried B)

I use AVG 8.5 for AntiVirus only, and SpyBot for Spyware only. Both are free and I've never had any probs with either one. They don't use much CPU power either. :)

Avast on one and AVG on the pentium 4. Both are good, even if you surf lots of porn and download warez.

If ya want it automatically done you need to get a schedule init i think.
Else just let it scan manually now and then.

Most stuff runs in the background with real-time protection.

Yeah i used to use NOD, its very good, never had any problems with it. I use Norton 2009 now though, since it was only £5 for the full internet security package, again ive had no problems with that either B)
