So, in the spirit of the last topic, FF2 Magic, I also bring up the FF2 heroes, who are also anomalies in the FF world. They can wield all weapons, and gain skills in the weapons the longer they use them. We think we may have to scrap the weapon skill system in order to make Edition II compatible with the other Editions in FFCCG.
The "level system" in FF2, or rather the lack thereof, will likely be too difficult to work into the card game, simply because it would require game rules that only apply to Edition II. Therefore, as far as we can tell right now, the Edition II heroes will be in Level cards similar to Edition I. There still remains, though, the weapon skills and spellcasting abilities. Currently, we would probably have to assign them arbitrarily, based partially on the in-game stats of characters and such. Thus, Minh would be a White Mage-like character, with lower HP and attack, and high white magic ability. Josef, on the other hand, would be more like the Monk character who fights with fists. And so on. What do people think? Does this sound reasonable, or is there a way to keep FF2's unique properties without making Edition II incompatible with other Editions? -------------------- - FFCCG Administration

You could... make a special rule in the rule book...
"Heroes from Edition II can use any weapon, weapon skill, etc. But they can ONLY equip to a class that is agreed on at the start of the match." Ie: I can play Mihn at the start using White Mage-ish abilities, but I can't switch him halfway through and make him like a fighter later on in the duel. Or... You can give Edition II heros an even set of base stats (even distribution... and not tailored to any one specific job). And allow them to equip any and everything they want. This approach may nerf them a little interms of base stats, but they have the diversity of using whatever they want. |

Hmm, that's an idea we might be able to work with. Maybe fuse the two together...
Like, they have set weapons skills, but when you play a Ed2 Hero, you choose a weapon, and they can equip Weapons of the chosen type that are 1 skill level too high for them normally. For example, let's say Maria has a weapon skill of 2, and when you played you, you chose Bows. This would mean she could equip all weapons of skill 2 or less, AND Bows of level 3 or less. That might work, and it would retain at least some of the unique FF2 weapon system, while still working with the rest of the Editions.
