I was speaking to a racer this weekend at the Spring Nationals about how difficult it would be to build a dragster that might be a catylist to put a Mini into Top Dragster. I explained to the gentleman that it would require a rules revision in the Top Dragster rules allowing a combination that utilizes a non-autmobile-type engine and would require that the Mini be compliant with Spec 2.5C, to which I told him I was unsure of the possibility.
I never got the gentleman's name or number, it was more of a passing conversation, but the conversation has stuck with me and the thought of it has begun to bother me wondering if it is possible. So, would it be possible to build a mini that could certify down to 6.00? I guess it would take a turbocharged PSB engine to get those numbers, but could the chassis even be feasibly built? As the title suggests...these damn texans, always trying to make things bigger and faster... |

BABY STEPS!!! NHRA did change the rules making these cars legal for Super Comp, why not start there? I personally am not an electronic racing guy, I like the old school stuff. But I would love to see a motorcycle or sled powered car compete in super comp. Is there anyone building one to try and run this?
I am not a tech expert, but I have been told that on a dragster it is not a lot different from the 7.50 to 6.0 cert. A chassis builder might be able to answer that better, but I think the cert will be the least of your problems! lol. |

See, living in Texas, I come in contact with many authentic Texans who do not believe in baby steps. I am not even considering doing this. I'm still trying to restore my 1993 Spitzer Jr. Dragster (serial no. 13) that I've had for 17 years now. It was neglected by my "father" while it was under his care, so I still have lots of work to do on that one.
I was simply inquiring to the feasibility of setting up such a combination. Something like that would need a Pro Stock Motorcycle engine, which I know George Bryce's V-Twins run over $50,000, but then you would need to have that engine set up to run on alcohol, and SOME form of forced induction or N20 to be competitive in Top Dragster. |
