Title: Finally got started
Description: Chassis in production

etmx376 - April 6, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
Been a while since I posted here. I finally got started putting a car together this last weekend. I decided instead of trying to use someone elses jig, My crew chief and I decided to build our own. It's kinda rough to look at but its getting the job done. He purchased a JD2 bender, needed dies, layout epuip and the Bend-Tech Pro software for me to do the design work.

SO far I've purchased a Fiberglass one-piece body, laydown seat, Stilletto all-alum. rack, Strange alum. spindles, Weld Aluma-Star wheels (frt and rear), rear axle set-up from Handicapped Racer (thanks again), hydralic pedal assembly, MSD MC-4 ignition, MTC Multi-stage lockup, all 4130 tubing and most I have about 95% of the engine parts to put together a 1075 KZ motor to get the ball rolling.

If my calculations are close, the car should come in around 525-535lbs, ready to race (including driver!)

Here are a few pics:

I really like that axle and rear wheel set up. :D Glad to see that everything went to the right project.

Actually this is going to be fun watching this come to life. Nice jig set up. Keep us posted with new pics when you get the upper part of the frame done.

SWEET! Congrats on getting the project started! Thanks for posting pictures. Hope everything goes smooth. Keep us updated!

runin1320 - April 6, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
Nice setup!

Where did you get the body? If I can't get one local (I'm in Peoria,IL), I'm most likely going to order one from Racer Pops.

etmx376 - April 7, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
The body is an Outlaw junior from Half-scale dragsters. Their juniors are 150" wheel base so the body proportions should be just about right. Half-scale was great to deal with, I also purchased a laydown seat at the same time. If you order a body, plan on spending around $1100-$1200 dollars by the time you get it shipped. Also, find a business you can have it shipped to, it saves a bunch of money.

runin1320 - April 7, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the info! I was afraid that the shipping would be expensive. Is the body you have carbon fiber? Also, what is the width of the drivers area? :wheel:

Wicked Quick - April 8, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
If someone is interested, I know where a new half-scale body is in storage in NW Mo.
Bodies from Randy @ Half Scale are normally 650$ + shipping $300.

But if you catch hinm coming to a race, he will pack it to the event for ya.
The body in storage can be bought for around $500.

Sorry I havent updated for a while. Ive had a few problems getting on the site.

Yes, the front and rear wings are homemade. I had the stringers cnc cut and my partner made the coverings.

I will hopefully be getting you all the info for the team page shortly. With everything I have had going on, I havent been on the computer as much lately.
