Photo of Microsoft meeting leaked. Could this be Xbox 2?

A picture of what many websites are claiming is Xbox 2 is currently being bandied around the internet.

Pictured on the right, the photo features corporate vice president and chief XNA architect J Allard standing before a white unit that many are speculating is Xbox 2.

While the box does appear to be hooked up to the main projector for the purpose of a meeting, and while the box resembles early guess-artwork (pictured on the right), it's unlikely this is finalised hardware.

We contacted Microsoft, but they could not comment on the matter and were unable to clarify the purpose and function of the odd-looking device.

In our opinion, this box is not final hardware, either in terms of looks or internal function.

We suggest this is just a quick thrown-together unit used to display certain functions to people within a meeting room environment, and that the final hardware will probably look very different.

Well, it would have to really - just look at it. Who would want that ugly plastic lump occupying space in the living room?
