More often than not, an RP always has some sort of fight scene in it, whether it be hulking war machines firing plumes of flaming halos at enemies who are fighting a losing battles in the middle of a floating island over a lava lake or just a pair of warriors crossing blades, there is always one. A fight or 'battle' can also be seen as inner conflict with your own flaws, or even as simple as a shouting match between friends who are just frustrated and need an outlet. Some people like to make it short and quick, but sometimes it doesn't always work out that way. For example, a swordfight is never short, otherwise it isn't a fight. Here's one example of something that you should never really call a fight:
Person 1 walks down a dark alleyway, eyes darting across the dark area searching for his opponent. Suddenly, something leaps from the shadows and kicks him to the ground. He quickly jumps to his feet and finds himself face to face with Person 2, his archnemesis. Person 2 attempts to slash Person 1's head off, but quickly Person 1 pulls out a knife he had concealed and stabs Person 2 in the heart, killing him instantly.
...What was that? That wasn't a fight, that was a cheap kill. Scenes like that are not really good for RPs since they often are vague and make the one character appear stronger than his is, while the other seems weaker and often means the death of another player's character whether they agree to it or not. Let's try to improve that scene shall we?
(note this time the characters will actually have names)
John walked down the dark alleyway in the middle of his hometown at nine 'o clock at night. He had recieved an anonymous letter this afternoon telling him to come here at nine or his girlfriend would meet an 'unexpected' end. Of course, he made sure Sarah was safely tucked away at a police station before he came here. His eyes darted over every aspect of the dark alley, not overlooking anything, though in the opaque darkness it was hard to do so. Suddenly, he heard a scuffle and quickly pulled out his small knife as something jumped from the shadows a few feet ahead of him.
Whoever it was, moved so fast he couldn't tell who it was in the dim light. All he saw was the person raise his arm to punch him, so he quickly ducked and did a quick sweep kick, but the attacker simply jumped over it and punched him in the back, hard. John shouted in pain and rolled away as his mystery opponent tried to stomp on him, only to hit the cold pavement beneath his feet. The man stood up quickly and charged the shady character, slashing quickly with his knife, but was easioy dodged. The unknown attacker delivered a swift kick to the stomach and sent him backwards, bent halfway over, the wind knocked out of him.
There was a pause in the commotion as both stood up straight breathing heavy, John clutched his stomach with one hand, the other flipped his knife shut, knowing it wouldn't help him one bit in this. He decided he should know who his adversary was...
"Who are you?!" He asked in a somewhat weak tone, still regaining his breath.
"You know exactly who I am John...It was you after all...who ruined my life." the man's tone was very familiar and the accusation he made...it sent chills down his spine.
"...Bill?...But...that doesn't make sense! I saw your car ram straight into that wall!" He shouted in disbelief.
The figure laughed a maniacal laugh that lasted many painful seconds. When he stopped he started to walk towards John and stopped as a lamp above them came on full power and revealed to him who it was. His eyes went wide as he saw the man before him wearing a pair of torn up brown pants, white shirt and brown jacket. On his head, he wore a battered hat, and his short brown hair was all over the place. But the part that was most haunting...his ghostly pale skin and the enormous cut over his forehead. There was another long gash down his left arm and two on his legs, with two that intersected like a distorted x on his torso. One eye was missing and the other was half closed. His hands, were covered in small cuts, one was crumpled like it had been smashed under a sledge hammer and the other was missing a few fingers.
"For every action...there is concequence..." Was the next thing that came from Bill's mouth, his skin slowly beginning to dry and flake.
"H-How...This...This can't..." John fell to his knees as the decaying Bill walked towards him.
In his mind, he wondered how on earth this had happened. How could this be? How could someone who was dead be alive?! He was quickly knocked out of his train of thought when Bill's crumpled hand collided with his head and sent him sprawling on his back with a broken nose.
"Get up, Johnny boy! It's time you paid for your actions!" Bill's tone was harsh and his voice was different, as if it were nothing but hate and pure disgust.
He didn't have a choice. He had to fight, it was either that, or die. John quickly kicked his opponent where it counts and sent him backwards onto his back and quickly stumbled to stand up straight. Seemingly unphased, and effortlessly, Bill sat up straight, a smirk on his face.
"You always were stubborn, Johnny boy." He mumbled only barely loud enough for him to hear.
His face suddenly contorted with rage as he let out an inhuman shriek and flew towards John as if he were standing up. Caught completely by surprise, John was knocked to the ground, and Bill folded into a ball, spinning in the air above him, before he landed on his feet in front of him. Trembling, John got to his feet as he heard Bill pop his neck and other joints to normal after being folded the way they were.
"You can't win. It ends here..." The zombified Bill mumbled in a menacing voice, "You're going to die! So is your pretty girlfriend!"
Within his mind, John pictured Bill doing unspeakable horrors to Sarah and he became enraged. He frowned, his face becoming a fierce visage.
"You...You won't lay a hand on her!" He charged Bill and caught him off guard with his passion.
He delivered a swift kick that knocked him back, but not onto the ground. He followed up with a right hook, but was blocked by the zombie's left arm and punched in the chest. John stumbled back a few feet, but recovered quickly and spin kicked Bill in the head. With a loud grunt Bill's head snapped to the right and he flew to the side, spinning slightly and landed on his side. John panted as he regained his breath, wondering if he had really won...but his answer came when Bill stood up, his head twisted completely around.
"I see you're-" He quickly popped his head back around to its proper place, "Not going to give up without a good fight. Good. I was hoping you would!"
Bill charged towards the blonde haired man shouting like a demon and sent a flurry of punches and kicks his way. The poor guy tried his best to block and counter each attack, but it was too much. Eventually, a swift punch slipped through and connected with his stomach. He gasped as Bill's left hand wrapped itself around his neck and squeezed. He clutched the dead man's wrist in an attempt to free himself, eyes widened again and gasping for air. The zombie chuckled and went into a laugh as he lifted the man off the ground, his feet dangling a few inches from the concrete.
"Well, you fought well...but it's finished. You're life is over...as is Sarah's." He taunted, amused and pulled one arm back, all fingers extended forward and ready to kill him.
However, John quickly kicked Bill in the gut, forcing him to let go and twisted the dead man's arm, and threw him over himself and onto his back on the ground. Quickly, the blonde haired man ran out the alleyway towards the Police Station where he had left Sarah. He had to warn her...even if the story was hard to believe...

There, that's better. Isn't it? It gives a much more frantic feeling of a fight, with a bit of word-play mixed in it to mess with your head.

Battle Scenes Continued: Sword DuelsYes, these battles scenes are rather popular among fantasy Rps, particularly, the ones that involve war and maybe a few evil beings with a good guy being corrupted, but anyway, these are always epic and can be very tense situations, especially since one wrong move can mean your head will be relocated ten feet away from your body, or on a spike for display. Of course, the intensity of the fight can count on several things:
1) Feeling! Have your characters show anger, rage, intensity and maybe even regret if they’re in a situation they didn’t want to be in. If your character enjoys battle, give them an excited, focused look, full of determination, but don’t make the characters seem lifeless…unless of course he/she has no soul to show emotion for.
2) Types of blades being used: Blade size and length can vary from tiny little daggers that can be hidden in your boots, to monstrous ten feet long, three inch thick blades wielded by some strong dudes! Try to mix and match sometimes to see how they turn out, just remember, some blades can handle more fights than others.
3) Powa!! A character’s strength can of course greatly alter the fight outcome, because if a character with a moderately sturdy sword swings with all his might at an enemy using a somewhat fragile blade, there’s a likely chance that that flimsy thing’ll snap easy with enough strength behind it. Try mix and matching two different levels of strength to see how it goes.
4) M4|) 5}|<i115!! Yes, a character’s skill with a blade can determine the entire match. If a rookie goes up against a sword swinging legend, it’s not likely that he’ll win the fight, since he’s going up against a veteran who likely knows every fighting stance from A to Z. Like the above two, try mixing and matching character skill levels, because doing it just right can mean a very long fight, but if the characters’ difference in skill is too great, the fight won’t last very long. For example, if you put two moderately skilled fighters together, the fight’ll probably last a decent length of time, if you put two veterans fighting for their lives…well you have one heck of a long fight that’ll probably leave either one or both broken on the ground or dead.
5) Setting and Weather: The place in which they fight can also alter the fight, for example, if they’re fighting in an open field, they’re free to move every which way and are not limited to any such style of fighting, but say they were fighting in a hallway, where space is much more limited and would inhibit certain styles, it would greatly alter it. Then, say they’re fighting in a semi-cloudy area, so they don’t get hot too quickly from the sun, the fight can last longer and they won’t get as tired as quickly. However, if they’re fighting in the sopping wet rain, and they’re outside, the ground becomes muddy and slick, thus they have less traction. So, bracing to block isn’t as easy and recovering from an aerial attack will likely make you slip up and fall, so the fighters have to be careful about what they’re doing during the fight or they’ll get themselves run through with a sword. Then say they’re fighting on the edge of a cliff that falls for miles onto some jagged rocks with a shallow river at the bottom, but would most likely scrape along the side a few times on the way down. Yeah, that creates HUGE tension, as the fighters may become nervous and wary of falling off the edge and may get sloppy, leaving parts of their defense open for attack…or try mixing them. Try fighting on a cliffside in the pouring rain, while the cliff is slowly wearing away and at one point will fall from the top, taking well over twenty feet of the ground they stand on with it…that will be an interesting fight.
6) Character condition: If your character is sick or injured, he’s more or less an open target, but if it’s merely a small sickness, like a cough, it still would influence the outcome, because the occasional cough would leave him open to attack…and then he’d be cured of his sickness for good. Also, say he has a broken limb, that inhibits his use of his sword and thus he can’t fight at top notch performance so he’s likely to lose and either receive further injuries…or flat out die.
Now, by putting these things into consideration, let’s put together an example of a simple fight, the kind that are rather common to many a Rps, you know, the ones that aren’t all that creative?
---
Dan stood with his blade at the ready before his opponent, his red eyes locked on the blue eyes of Saphira, his enemy. Neither moved, waiting for the other to make a mistake for the attack to start. Dan went to blink and Saphira lunged forward screaming at the top of his lungs…a dumb move as Dan dodged to the left and held his blade along his opponent’s path. However, the fool quickly righted himself in the air and barely missed getting cut in half, a shallow cut along his left arm, but he ignored it.
He stood up with his blade ready again and the two went into another stand off, but quickly lunged at each other and started slashing repeatedly, trying to break through the other’s defense to end the fight.
Sparks flew as their katanas collided constantly at blazing speeds, the blades becoming warm from the friction. Neither gave in, neither slowed down and continued to glare at each other. Finally, Dan pushed him back and quickly spun around, stabbing forward quickly, his blade piercing his foe’s gut. Saphira gasped and dropped his sword, staring down at his injury as his life drained from him. He looked back up at his opponent and then fell to the ground limp. Dan pulled his sword out, wiped off the blood and walked away quietly…
---
…Hm, yeah, not very creative there, huh? Dan and Saphira showed very little emotion in that one. There was the glaring…and that was it. A fight of intensity needs more emotion than that, a simple glare doesn’t show much emotion, that’s just one medium through which you can express emotion. Plus, they didn’t seem to put much power into their attacks…neither one of them seemed strained to keep their blade ready. Their skill levels were obviously similar…at least they seemed that way until Dan just stabbed him in the stomach. Yeah, if Saphira didn’t even attempt to deflect it, that shows there wasn’t much skill behind his eyes, so that wasn’t a very good match up. Another thing…where are they? All we know is they were fighting and one of them won…and we don’t even know what started the fight. Plus, it doesn’t tell you the condition of the characters, were they injured…did Saphira have ADD, hence why he missed the oncoming stab?
The way this was written also suggests they were alone, because nobody seemed to be watching, nobody reacted there was no external reaction to the fight scene going on. We can’t even tell if it’s daytime or night time! Another thing, yes it states that their swords are katanas…but that’s it, nothing else. No length, no thickness, and no description of the hilt. Also, we didn’t get much of a description of the two characters except maybe their eyes. Dan’s are red, Saphira’s are blue…big whoopty doo, have a cookie. Now, let’s try to elaborate on this, shall we?
< - - Now entering super make-the-fight-scene-better mode! - - >It was a cloudy afternoon in the enormous courtyard of the Kansati Palace in the Imperial Capital when a young servant woman walked out to pick flowers from the lavish gardens for her master’s daughter, when something out of the corner of her eyes caught her attention. The young girl herself stood a few feet away in her light blue and white kimono, staring up at the sky with her sky blue eyes, her long, knee length, dark blue hair in a high ponytail, a tranquil look on her face.
“Rina dear, what are you doing out here? You know you’re still sick and in no condition to be moving about.” The young servant said as she walked over to the young girl who in turn looked at her, a slight flush of sickness on her face.
“I know…sorry Keana, but I can’t stand lying in bed all day.” She replied with a somewhat meek tone, as if she were ready to throw up and she had swallowed a very large toad.
“No, no, no, that just won’t do!” Keana took her arm and tugged on her, taking her back inside when she suddenly bumped into someone and yelped.
She righted herself and looked up at who she had bumped into to come in eye contact with a pair of piercing red eyes. She was taken aback by the look in the man’s eye and backed up as the six foot tall man walked out onto the courtyard, looking no older, or younger, then twenty years old. His strong legs stood firm and his long arms were folded over his chest in contempt with a grim face that looked to be etched out of stone and shoulder length black hair that was kept in a low ponytail.
“Oh, Body Guard Daniel, you surprised me.” Keana said with a sigh of relief, expecting it to be someone she didn’t want to anger.
He said nothing, but walked past the two into the garden where he sat down amongst the plants and closed his eyes, going into deep meditation while in his casual red pants and crimson shirt, bandages wrapped tightly around his wrists and hands to provide better gripping for his sword, which was currently sheathed at his side. At six feet in length, it was deadly and its inch thick metal made it a deadly weapon, with flaming designs etched into it from bottom to the tip, the hilt finely fashioned to look more like a gust of wind mixed with small debris.
Keana sighed again and went to take Rina to her room, but the girl refused to move, and stared at Daniel, whom she preferred to be called Dan, “Come on Rina, you need to get into bed! I know you are fond of the man, but right now isn’t the time.” She snapped in some annoyance at the girl’s stubbornness.
Rina snapped out of her trance and looked at the servant, “…Okay…” However, a sudden motion caught her attention and she turned to see what it was.
Almost out of nowhere, a new person had appeared, and given the marks on the tall stone walls that surrounded the courtyard, he must have climbed the walls. He had cold blue eyes that were locked onto her and his short black hair, which was tied up in a messy ponytail waved slightly as a gust of wind passed by.
“Who is that…” She mumbled in some fright.
“You are Rina, granddaughter of the emperor correct?” he questioned with a serious, determined look, and she nodded slowly, and nervously, making him narrow his eyes with single-minded tenacity, “Then prepare to die.” He spoke harshly and sent a powerful chill down her spine.
“W-What?!” She stuttered in shock and fear as she began to back into the house, but her sickness suddenly came to her and she coughed violently, to the point where a small bit of blood shot out and hit the ground below her.
“Ms. Rina!” The servant shouted in worry as she helped her stand.
The stranger showed no pity towards the girl as he approached them, drawing his five and half foot long, two and half inch thick blade that was sheathed at his side, gripping the dragonic designs of the hilt tightly. Keana quickly helped Rina stand and started to help her inside, but the stranger quickly bent forward, sliding one foot back and kicked off from the ground, flying forward like a flash, doing a front flip and landing in front of them, narrowing his eyes at them in an icy cold glare,
“The girl will not escape her fate.” He uttered in an emotionless tone, yet it still dripped venom.
He raised his blade to strike as Keana and Rina got on their knees and held each other tightly in immense fear, closing their eyes to prepare for the oncoming strike, trembling greatly. He grunted and went to swing, but there was a deafening clang of metal against metal and the Rina cracked an eye open, seeing that she was still alive. She glanced behind Keana up at where her attacker was, to see Dan had appeared before them, one foot slid behind him slightly and braced hard against the dry, grassy ground, the other slid forward, spreading his balance over his body, eyes fixed on the blue eyed assassin with apparent anger,
“Ms. Rina, quickly…” his tonewas strained, their two swords shuddering greatly as one tried to overpower the other and throw one another off, hand and arms shaking and veins popping up on their foreheads, mouths pulled back in mirrored snarls, “Run to safety!” he grunted and pushed forward with great strength, catching the assassin off guard and sending him stumbling back several feet and into the wall inside, nearly making him lose his grip on his thick sword.
He kicked off from the ground with his left foot and lunged at the blue haired man, but he had righted himself the moment he needed to and dodged to his left to avoid being cut in half, Dan’s katana cutting into the wall and leaving a long, deep gash in the wood. Quickly, the assassin counter-attacked and gripped the hilt with one hand, stabbing forward, letting his other arm fling to his left side and sliding on foot forward, while he slid the other back and bent down as he went, but the red eyed body guard quickly stepped back to avoid the stab and spun around as he swung his sword at his opponent’s open defense.
However, the assassin quickly brought his blade back up, upside down and put the flat side facing up, planting his hand on the opposite flat a side to brace himself. Dan’s blade collided with the assassin’s thick sword and a loud clang was heard, the blue eyed man’s feet sliding back only a few inches as his blade took the brunt of the attack. He quickly jumped back and got into a defensive stance, his opponent doing the same. They both breathed heavy, but neither was sweating yet, still ready for more. Seeing his opportunity, Dan eyed his opponent cautiously,
“Who are you, and why do you seek to end the girl’s life?” he asked in a questioning tone, one eyebrow raised and suppressed anger present.
“I am Saphira and my motivations are not for you to know.” He grunted and both pushed hard trying to push the other back, but ended up being knocked back a few feet.
Both caught their balance fairly quickly and flashed into stances of their own, Dan standing with one hand on the hilt of his sword, which was held upside down in his hand and the blunt of the blade pressed against his arm, the blade pointed out, while Saphira stood with both hands gripping the sword, pointed horizontally at his target. The assassin sent a chilling glare to his adversary, the hall lights caused their blades to shimmer slightly and Dan noticed this, as well as Saphira. The assassin took action first and quickly flashed his blade across the light, a bright flash of light shot into Dan’s eyes and he shouted with pain as his eyes were briefly blinded by the bright flash. The blue eyed warrior took advantage of this and lunged forward and kicked his opponent in the stomach, making him double over as he fell backward with a grunt of pain, the wind knocked out of him.
Saphira quickly slashed at him with his huge sword, but Dan finally recovered and ducked down to avoid the initial slash and jumped to avoid the lower slash, slashing up on his way up, forcing the assassin to block quickly, stumbling back as he was knocked back, unable to brace himself before the blow was given. He stomped one foot behind himself to regain his balance and stabbed forward quickly, air swirling around his blade. Dan saw it coming and twisted to the left, the blade nipping the cloth of his shirt, he raised his blade and brought it down on the thick sword and knocked it into the ground, the blade stabbing into the wood and getting stuck. Saphira tugged on it to get it out, but was forced to dodge back away from a quick slash, unable to pull it out yet.
Dan took advantage of his weaponless enemy and ran forward, sandals clacking loudly on the wood floors and slashed left and right in an attempt to cut his enemy to ribbons. The assassin kept dodging and using various objects to block the attacks until he parried around one swing and kicked the body guard in the back, sending him smack into a wall with a loud thud and fell to the ground. Saphira took this moment to run to his blade and grip the hilt with both hands and tug hard, the blade sliding free at last and readied himself, whirled around and blocked a sudden attack from his enemy who had recovered surprisingly fast.
“You will NOT kill her!” The body guard grunted with a tone of determined anger, but Saphira chuckled with an arrogant smirk.
“Try as you might, but you can’t protect her forever!” He pushed forward hard, forcing the attacker to jump back and go on defense as he swung his blade left, then right, did a spin and quickly slashed diagonally and the red eyed defender raised his blade to block, but the weight of the sword was greater than he thought and sent him on one knee, his arms, hands and blade trembling greatly to hold the enemy’s weapon up.
He kept his gaze locked on the blade above him, so he failed to see the assassin raise his foot and kick him in the chest, sending him sprawled out on his back on the ground, his katana clattered across the ground and came to rest at the other end of the hall, where it turned off into another hallway. Saphira chuckled again and stood over his helpless enemy, ready to stab him immediately, “I told you, you couldn’t hold it forever.” He said with a confident tone, but Dan only glared up at him as his red eyes seemed to glow.
“You…haven’t won yet.” He muttered with clenched teeth, tension apparent in his tone.
Meanwhile, Rina came from the other hallway to see how it had gone, the sounds of blades clashing having died down, she saw Dan’s sword lying on the ground and gasped. She ran over to it and picked it up when she heard two voices speaking. She turned her head, while on her knees, clutching the sword and saw Dan on the ground with her assailant standing over him. Her eyes widened and she went back to the corner, watching with one hand cupped over her mouth, she couldn’t do a thing and if she called to Dan or tried to give him his katana, she’d be cut down instantly, she knew it.
But then, a strange glow began to emanate from her body guard and her eyes widened to their full extent. He opened his mouth to speak, but strange words left his mouth, ones she didn’t understand. The assassin suddenly jumped back as a blast of air shot out and forced him to flea. He landed on his feet a few feet away from the body guard. Another ripple of strange air and Dan flashed to his feet, seemingly without even attempting to stand. His eyes glowed bright red and his canines had become fangs, bright red markings began to glow on his cheeks and forehead, more stranger demonic marks becoming apparent as they shined through his clothes and lit the room with a strange eerie glow that made the lights in the ceiling go out. Red flashes of energy shot off of his body and he clenched his teeth with a growl, a vein tensed on his head and his fists clenched.
“Wh-Who are you?!” Saphira uttered with great surprise as he stepped back.
He received no answer…at least not one he could understand as Dan’s muscles suddenly bulged and grew bigger, his clothes becoming tight against the sudden changes and two odd things protruding from his head and his fingernails becoming longer and sharp. He reared his head back and let out a loud roar that echoed across the courtyard and into the palace. Its roar made both Rina and Saphira shiver with fear as the menacing sound filled their senses and nulled others. His skin color seemed to tint red slightly and his muscles had become quite huge now. Energy flew off of him like sunlight and two horns had fully formed on his head, jagged and seemed to bend in different directions until they ended at sharp points. He lunged forward at the assassin, his heel digging into the floor and causing it to shatter from the force and extended a clawed hand forward to cut his enemy down.
However, Saphira recovered and raised his sword to block. When Dan’s hand collided with his blade, a violent shudder went down his blade to the hilt and to his hand, which forced him to release it and strangely enough, sent him flying backwards into the wall, the panels shattering under him as he was caught in a hole, his blade stabbed into the ground, no longer in his grip. The demon chuckled and began to stomp towards him, causing the wooden floor below him to crack and break beneath his strides until he reached the assassin.
“Now, you die…” His voice was warped and dripped malice and rage.
He raised a clawed hand to finish him, but he heard someone shout,
“Halt, demon!” he turned to look beside himself and some form of priest stood a few feet away, holding a staff and a special slip of paper in his hand with strange symbols written on it, “You will no longer plague this household!” he added with fierce rage.
However, Rina ran out from her hiding spot and stood in the Priest’s way, “No wait! Please, don’t banish him! He’s Daniel my body guard, he’s on our side!” She pleaded with the priest, demon or not, she didn’t want Daniel banished to the eternal pit.
“Step aside, Ms. Rina, this is no place for you…” he completely disregarded her plea and pushed her behind himself to face the demon.
Dan snorted at the priest and grabbed the assassin by his throat, dragging him behind him as he walked down the hall towards the other exit, not at all worried about the priest.
“Demon, be gone!” The priest threw the slip of paper and it flew strangely like an arrow and struck the demon’s back and stuck, it flashed briefly before it clamped to him.
Daniel, however, was not at all affected and glanced over his shoulder at it, snorted and then moved on out into the courtyard. Rina continued to plead for the Priest to stop, but he still ignored her, thinking she must be traumatized by the fact that someone had tried to kill her, unaware of the blue eyed one being the assassin, not Dan, the demon. He threw multiple seals at the demon, but none of them seemed to work, and this baffled him. Eventually, Dan just tore them off with an annoyed grunt and threw the assassin against the stone wall, a loud crack resonating as his spine was broken in several places and made him shout in pain.
The priest snarled in defeat and watched as Dan approached Saphira. He raised a clawed hand and the assassin merely opened an eye and smiled. This motion made the demon stop and wait to see what he was about to say.
“I have to say, you took me by surprise at first…but now…” He went to stand up, his back making loud, sickening popping noises as he stood up, seemingly painless, “We are not done here…” An equally strange glow took over the assassin’s eyes.
Then, in a fashion similar to Dan’s, he turned into a much taller, leaner demon with skin tinted blue, long fangs and razor sharp claws. He chuckled in an echoing tone and looked down at his red demon enemy,
“Let us resume…but elsewhere.” He clasped the red demon’s shoulders and a bright flash consumed them, taking them away.
Rina sank to her knees as she took all this in, still clutching Dan’s sword, tears beginning to form in her eyes. The priest also took a moment to take things in, but came to no conclusion. He looked down at the young girl,
“…Do you mind explaining things?” he asked in a much calmer tone, seeming to sigh in relief.
“…The red demon…was my body guard Daniel…and the blue one…he was an assassin who tried to kill me…I don’t know why but…” She trailed off as she stared at where the two went, gone somewhere she couldn’t even imagine…

Now, wasn’t that better? Yeah, I thought so. The fight establishes location before the actual fight, so you know where they are and if there is a possible way to jump in. Second, it establishes who the characters are and what they look like, their personality and voice. It also gives you an idea of what the weather is like so you know how they can fight. Then, there’s the emotion, notice how the fighters would exchange brief words of anger, or some other such emotion, and showed body language that represented it. Also, did it not show power behind the attacks? Their arms and legs, their swords were shaking and trembling from behind the amount of power that was being put into the attacks, and the scenery around them began to break and react to it as well. As you may or may not have seen, their levels of skill were pretty equal as the fight lasted a while, until of course Dan lost his sword. Being weaponless can often mean defeat unless you can get it back, but since it was on the other end of the hall, there was no way he could have gotten it back, so he had to resort to something…different.
Anyway, this is the kind of fight scenes I like to see. Though, in RPs they take a while and may not go as well for some people, considering the amount of work that has to be done, but if the two work together to work it all out BEFORE they actually post a fight, that would make a great difference in the difficulty. Sorry for the sudden cut off, but that fight will continue another time, under another section. Supernatural fights,
