Whenever it rains, there tends to be someone who complains that they can't wake up because of the weather. Imagine not being able to go outside or even look out a decent window for days because unless you were a master of the art of sneaking out, this is how the life at the centre is. He had no idea where they were going but it a nice just to be out of there. He wasn't one to sneak out. He wanted to stay on the doctor's good sides, after all and part of him didn't want to. Although that may seem insane to most, and even to himself half of the time, that is the way Edward felt.
However, Edward didn't complain Isabella asked him if he wanted to get out for a while that particular Wednesday afternoon. He liked spending time with her despite the fact most of their conversations were arguments. It's not as though the two were hateful to each other, they just argued. What was so wrong with that? Arguments are healthy. Maybe the two took it farther than most but he didn't care. Edward did fancy her, after all. He made a mental note to start distancing himself from her. Well, eventually do that. But then he figured it didn't matter. It's not like she would ever fancy him as well.
When the car stopped at the park he wasn't disappointed but felt the need to tease Bella about the location. Really, out of all of the places in the city she picked the park? He smirked amusedly and said, "The park? How exciting," rather sarcastically before stepping out of the car. He actually had no problem with the park. It might be nice just to walk away in a peaceful environment. He did that a lot, believe it or not, before he was sent to the centre.

Isabella wondered what it was like being cooped up in the center all the time. Well, no, she didn’t really want to know. But she could just imagine – and she imagined it being dreadful, dreary, and just not a happy time. She imagined that it would probably be a very miserable place to live. Which was why she wanted to take Edward out. She knew that he couldn’t possibly like being in there all the time, so getting out for an evening might be good for him. And she was glad he hadn’t turned her down when she asked him. She liked spending time with him, even though they did tend to argue a lot. Se considered him a friend, and she figured it was just something thoughtful she could do to take him out. She had opted for the park, because she loved it there. She hoped he liked it, as well.
Despite the fact that Bella liked Edward, she never felt awkward around him. She didn’t know why, but she didn’t really question it. They got along well – while they weren’t arguing, of course – so she didn’t really see why there would be any reason to feel awkward. Which was why she had no problem taking him out like this. She smiled a little as she pulled in front of the park. It was late afternoon, approaching early evening. Bella loved taking walks in the evening, when it was cool and dark. She reached for the handle of her door when she heard Edward speak. She rolled her eyes and she got out of her car. “Oh, be quiet Edward.” She shook her head a little, exasperated, even though she was smiling a little. “The park is a great place, and it’ll be a lovely evening for a walk here.” She tipped her head up to look at the sky. Then she turned her gaze to him. And smiled. “Come on. I can’t keep you out all night, so let’s get a move on, shall we?” She turned and began following the path through the park.

Edward grinned at her for a moment before walking around the car and over to her. He was in a really good mood but he just looked at her for a moment. It was odd, seeing her in such a normal setting. She was so used to her as seeing a part of the rehab that he found it odd seeing her out of it. He liked it. It didn't seem as odd and unacceptable liking her in the park. It was like they were just too people. Not the guy who needs anger management or the girl that volunteers. They were just, well, people. All of his usual worries were in the back of his mind and it was relaxing.
Hearing her speak he snapped out of his small epiphany and replied with a simple, "We shall," before walking with her down the path for a second. He realized that he didn't know that much about her. They never talked about themselves, it seemed. But now he was really curious. He wanted to know about her. Of course, he had for some time now but it seemed ok to ask her here. "Do you walk though the park a lot? It's actaully a pretty nice place to be. I used to come here a lot," he told her, wanting to know but adding in the rest for conversation sake. And so it didn't seem that he was too interested in her. No, he wasn't necessarily awkward around her but he was always more aware of what he was doing around her than most.

It was comfortable. The atmosphere just seemed so warm and inviting. It wasn’t too hot out, and it wasn’t too chilly. Bella hadn’t been sure what to wear – it was the first time she and Edward had ever been together outside of the center, and they weren’t out on a ‘date’, so she wasn’t sure how to go about dressing for the occasion. So she’d decided to go somewhat casual, but a little dressy – she didn’t know why, but she wanted to look good for him. She’d opted for a knee length flowy black skirt with a plain white tank top and black flats. She didn’t bring a jacket, not because she didn’t think she’d need it, but because she’d just forgotten. She left her hair down to wave around her shoulders and down her back. She hadn’t put much makeup on, as she didn’t want to look like she was trying to impress him, even though she kind of was. She felt she looked quite lovely overall.
Although she felt comfortable with Edward, she felt a little uneasy. Mostly because they had never been around each other outside of the center. And she was afraid that she would mess things up. But Edward seemed to be in a good mood, and she felt pretty fine herself, so she supposed things would go good. She looked over at him as he started shooting questions out at her. She smiled before turning her gaze ahead of them again. “Yes, I do. Especially in the evening. I love it – its so peaceful and relaxing and beautiful.” At his admission, she looked at him again, a slightly perplexed smile on her face. “Really? It might be silly of me, but you don’t seem the type to take walks in the park.” Her smile changed then to one of sweetness. “But then again, I’m really not surprised.” She looked around them, taking in their surrounding. “This is a great place to be, I think.” She clasped her hands together behind her back as they walked along. There was a small, comfortable silence. Then, “It must be nice to be out here now. I mean, I just can’t imagine being cooped up in a place like Fallen Stars – I can’t really seem to fathom how you do it.” She turned to him again, smiling.

Edward was impressed by her outfit although he tried to act like he didn't notice how stunning she looked. Now he wished he would have put more thought into his outfit as he was simply wearing jeans and a hoodie. Mentally kicking himself he directed his attention to what she was saying. He wasn't surprised that she didn't see him as that type and he liked surprising her. Mystery was a good thing to have because it tends to leave you wanting more. "It's just one of the many fascinating, surprising things about me," he replied, looking more relaxed than he ever did at the rehab. He was always slightly at edge there but tonight he finally felt relaxed.
He walked along, thinking about her statement for a moment. It was hard there sometimes but wasn't everywhere you go hard to be at from time to time? Although, he must admit, being out of Fallen Stars would be a good thing. In some ways. The guilty feeling that crept into his stomach daily for not being at home would go away and maybe he could figure out a way to finally set things right. But, although most people saw it as a place to confront their problems, he saw it as the opposite, liking the moment to relax. "Some things about it are awful but some things about it are alright too. Once you learn to accept that you're stuck their for a while it's easier to get by," he told her with a small nod, feeling that just bitching about the center would be the wrong thing to do.

Isabella laughed a little at his statement. She realized that there were probably a lot of fascinating, surprising things about him that she didn’t know. And she found herself wanting to find out about all of those things. She smiled at him. She realized then that, except for their teasing comments back and forth when they first arrived at the park, there hadn’t been any kind of arguing or disagreement in any form. She wanted to ponder on that for a bit, but she didn’t. Maybe later she would, when she was home alone. She took a moment to study him out of the corner of her eye. He looked good – it was obvious he didn’t put an extreme amount of effort into his appearance, but that was fine. She still thought he looked perfect, really. And he looked so much more relaxed than she had ever seen him. She liked that.
Her gaze darted away from him; she didn’t want him to notice her looking at him like that. He was silent for a moment, and she could tell that he was thinking. She turned her head to watch him when he finally did start speaking. After he finished, she was silent for a long moment. She stopped walking and moved to the side of the path, picked a pretty yellow flower – daffodil, by the looks of it. She lifted it to her nose to inhale lightly as she returned to him. She smiled. “You know, I don’t think many of the people at Fallen Stars think that way.” She still held the flower up to her face, twirling it slowly so the petals brushed her lips. She grinned. “And I’m thinking the fact that you do is another one of those fascinating, surprising things about you.” She turned and started walking again, a soft, feminine smile on her face. But then her smiled fell. “I don’t know. I just… don’t think I’d be able to stand it there.” She laughed a little, attempting to relieve the tension, “But then again, I’ve lived through drugs and alcohol and abuse, so maybe I would be able to handle it.” She paused. Had she really just admitted that? She hadn’t told anyone at all about her father and the things he had done. She was surprised, though, that she didn’t feel nervous or depressed like she would have suspected. She pushed some hair behind her ear and stared at the ground, still holding the flower to her lips.

Edward was glad that she seemed to like his answer. He had put a bit more thought into then just blurting something out and was now glad. Her liking something about him made him happy. He wanted her to like him. Well, part of him did. Part of him, perhaps most of him, was terrified of her liking him back. It'd be a lot harder to not get close to Bella if he knew that she was interested in him as well. It would also be focused on what's important. Although, he was beginning to think that she was a important part of his life too. She was one of the few people that made him happy in a while.
He watched her as she picked up a flower and brought it to her lips, finding that really attractive although he tried to hid it like always. He listened to what she had to say, nodding, until her last statement. He stopped and just looked at her for a moment. Another person that he was rather close to was effected by abuse. He wanted to wrap his arms around her, to kiss her and say loving things to try to make things better in the small way he possibly could but he wouldn't even do that. He couldn't help anyone that was effected by this violence and that made him angry with himself. "I'm sorry," he said softly, not sure what to say exactly. Then he surprised himself and let something out. "I've lived around alcohol and abuse too," it was obvious that he wasn't planning on saying. His expression was surprised and also a bit sad.

Isabella took a mental step back and looked at the whole picture. She liked Edward. She was fairly certain that he didn’t like her back. But she didn’t really worry about it too much, because she figured it was better that way. But she realized that, despite the fact that they would argue much of the time, they still had sort of bonded in the time that they had been spending together. She found that she liked that. She also found that he really meant a lot to her. Yeah, she didn’t know much about him, and they’d never really gotten along all that well before now, but it didn’t seem to matter. She decided that their relationship was a good one, and she wouldn’t want to change it for anything.
At his softly spoken words, she turned her gaze to his. She could tell he wasn’t really sure what to say to her accidentally spoken comment. But that was okay – the fact that he cared enough to apologize even though he had nothing to do with it made her feel better. She smiled a little. “Thank you.” At his admission, Bella frowned a little. She found that she didn’t like it that he was treated poorly, as she had been. But she also realized that she felt immensely… special. She could tell that admitting that wasn’t something he had intended to do, as he looked surprised and a bit sad. But the fact that he had let it slip said a lot. It was the sadness in his expression that caught her attention most, though. She frowned, looking a bit distressed. She moved a little closer to him, their arms brushing a little as they walked. Then, as inconspicuously as possible, Isabella reached over and intertwined her fingers with his. He seemed so sad, she just had to comfort him somehow. She was silent, although a faint blush colored her cheeks. After a moment, she murmured, “My father. He… he only it me once, actually. But my mother was like a walking bruise most of the time.” She sighed a little, trying to control her emotions. She hadn’t realized talking about this would make her feel so sad. “That was horrible, seeing him beat her up.” She ran the petals of the flower over her lips once more before turned her head to look at him. “You know what was the worst of all? He hit her constantly, and she never, never tried to do anything about it. That made me so upset.” She sighed, looking away again, lifting the daffodil up to her nose. “I just always wished I could have helped her. Because as mad as I got at her for not doing anything about it… well, I was twice as mad a myself for not doing anything, either.” She didn’t know what had come over her. She had practically told him everything! She didn’t regret it though. It actually felt good to tell someone about it. She knew she could trust him with it.

As they walked along and she intertwined her fingers in is it felt as though his heart skipped a beat. For the briefest second he thought that maybe he liked her. Soon he realized they were just being friends. Right? Of course they were just being friends. Still, he felt as though he was really getting to know her. He could tell Bella was not the type that told everyone her problems, obnoxiously begging for sympathy, and the fact that she let her in said a lot. It showed that she obviously trusted him a lot more than he trusted himself. He liked the feeling of her hand in his, and accepted the silence. it seemed right. He felt closer to her than ever. They both went through the same things from a different perspective. He felt like he could actually talk to her and she would understand him.
The more Bella talked the more he hated her father. No, he never laid eyes but he knew that he hurt Bella, and that was all the reason Edward needed. How had he fallen so hard for this girl? He shouldn't have let this happen. Yet he wasn't trying to stop. "My father never hut me. He hurt mum the most. She just took it as well. I tried to stop it although soon I learned I couldn't. That just made him angrier. It made him hit her harder. he told her and paused. He was going to share the one thing he was most ashamed of. "One day I came home a bit late from school and unlocked the door and opened began to open it. I saw that he had moved on from my mothers to my sisters and instead of doing a God damn thing I ran away. That's when I started to become angry, I guess.," he told her, regretting that. How could she possibly like someone who would do something as awful as he had. He might as well been the one hitting his sisters, in his eyes. He looked down at the ground, unable to look at her.

Bella hadn’t expected an exchange. She had simply told him about a part of her, a very large part of her. She felt so much better after she had gotten it off her chest. But the fact that he had told her his story in return… That made her happy. She knew he trusted her. He had to, otherwise he wouldn’t have felt comfortable enough telling her the things that he had. She watched him as he spoke, her lips parted slightly. How was it possible that people like her father, and his father, ended up walking this earth? They were just… horrible people. At the end of his story, Bella studied him closely. She could tell he was so ashamed of what he had done. She was sure anyone would be. But she realized that she didn’t want him to feel so sad like he was. It really bothered her. She stopped walking completely and turned her body to face him. She released his hand and stepped closer to him, her arms going around his waist. She rested her cheek against his chest as she embraced him, sighing a little. “I won’t make excuses for you, Edward. What you did wasn’t the best thing that could have happened, obviously – but everyone runs.” She paused a little. “I can assure you that you aren’t the first one to do something like that, and you won’t be the last.” She was silent for a moment. “Try not to be sad now, though. At least not while we’re here – we’re supposed to be having a nice time, and I’m sorry I brought all this up.” She smiled a little against his chest. “For me, please don’t be sad.” She didn’t want to see him be sad while they were supposed to be having fun. In fact, she wouldn’t allow it. She leaned back a little, although she didn’t release him, and smiled sweetly.

Edward felt her arms go around him and wondered how that was happening. He was an awful person and yet she was embracing him. He was shocked. This was all so unexpected and yet he couldn't deny that he was pleased. He listened to what she had to say and began to wonder what he was doing. He was supposed to be strong, cool, and confident. Fascinating and mysterious and then he just went and said everything and now he was an open book. He no longer knew what to do. So, as her head rested against his chest he did what seemed natural and wrapped his arms around her, holding her.
He composed himself and smiled down at her. His mind wondered off to how perfect she seemed. For one thing wanted him to be happy and she cared. He cared about her too. Which is why he slowly wrapped his arms around her. The next point was how she looked. She was hot, he couldn't deny that. And so he had lost all of the things he was going for. He tried to think of what he should do but they were filtered out by what he wanted to do. He wanted to kiss her and the moment seemed perfect so he went for it, frightened of her reaction. He knew that she would reject it. And then he could always pass it off as nothing if he had to. So he had nothing to loose, he figured.

Isabella wondered what he was thinking. Did her embrace bother him? That was the closest that they’d ever been to one another. Well, physically. And, come to think of it, that was the closest they’d ever been emotionally, as well. She wondered briefly how it would affect them in the long run. Would it be kind of awkward now that they’ve shared their biggest secrets? She hoped not. She had felt relatively comfortable telling him about her father. But she knew how Edward was, and she wasn’t sure if he had been so comfortable sharing his inner demons.
She sighed a little when she felt his arms wrap around her to return her embrace. She had been afraid for a moment that he would push her away or something. She sighed a little and closed her eyes, enjoying being close to him. She had always known that, despite their arguing, they were always pretty good together. Okay so, maybe he didn’t see her the same way she saw him, but that didn’t matter. She realized then that she needed his comfort as much as he had seemed to need hers. Her eyes fluttered open. And she saw his face moving toward hers. Wait. What? Was he kissing her? She was alarmed at first, as she hadn’t been expecting that, so she didn’t really respond right away. But after a moment, she was excited – he was kissing her, so that had to really mean something, right? Her eyes fluttered closed again and she kissed him back, her arms still around his waist. It was amazing, really. She hadn’t kissed anyone since her douche of an ex-boyfriend, and Edward was a great kisser. She removed one of her hands from around him and reached up, resting her palm on his chest, just over his heart. She murmured his name against his lips, not breaking the kiss. She wondered if she should stop this. They really shouldn’t be kissing, right? But she couldn’t seem to stop it, and she didn’t really want to.

It was no secret that Edward had kissed a lot of girls before. No, it wasn't a shocking amount but there had been a fair few. This seemed a bit different though. He actually had feelings for her other than just the way she looked which was rather new to him. He always tried to distance himself from girls like Bella but he couldn't this time. He didn't care at the moment. His mind was far away from what he should and shouldn't be doing. He had even moved on quite a bit from their previous conversation in those quick moments. He was more concerned with the girl right in front of him.
At first, when he didn't kiss her back he felt worried and a bit stupid for doing such a thing but then she began kissing him back and it felt right. He began soft and careful but as the kiss went on he got more into it, one arm pushing her closer to him and the other now in her hair. He was glad he decided to do this. Life takes risk if you want to make anything of it, doesn't it? Also, he had no idea what he'd be possibly be talking about, trying to make the conversation pleasant once more. This was a lot easier and more enjoyable. He was really hoping she was thinking the same right now although part of him still wasn't sure. He thought about stopping but didn't because he didn't feel like it. Hearing her mumble his name he stopped thinking about stopping. There was no way he was going to be the first one to stop this, at this rate.

Isabella had only had one boyfriend in her entire eighteen years. Their relationship had lasted a decent amount of time, and they had gotten along wonderfully. That was, until he decided that he wanted to take their relationship to ‘the next level.’ She had agreed to sleep with him, even though she hadn’t really wanted to. She told him after that one time that she didn’t want to do it again, but he became mean about it, and so she broke up with him. She hadn’t been with anyone before him, or after him. So she was, admittedly, not very experienced, not even with kissing. But even in her inexperience, she could tell that Edward was a good kisser; at least to her.
She loved the way he kissed her. Maybe she was just being silly, but it seemed to be more than just regular kissing. You know, like it meant more than just regular kissing. Bella moaned softly when he pushed her closer and put his hand in her hair. It was so… well, almost romantic, but in a rougher sort of way, it that made sense. Since her experience with her first boyfriend, she always figured she’d feel uncomfortable doing anything like this with anyone. But she didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable. She lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck loosely. She was really getting into it. The kiss slowly got more intense, and Bella wasn’t really sure she could handle that, even though she really liked it. She broke the kiss gently, her eyes still closed. She rested her forehead against his, trying to slow down her erratic breathing. “What was that for?” A small smile curved her lips up slightly at the corners as she spoke, her eyes still shut – her lashes making small, feathery crescents on her cheeks.

Edward was getting really into the kiss when she broke it and although she stayed close to him he was mentally freaking out. Of course, he hid these emotions away, idly playing with her hair gently as he thought about the situation. He figured that he had gone too far and she really didn't like him. How could he have been so foolish to think that she would ever have the same feelings as he did. He looked at her and noticed how beautiful she looked. He couldn't be thinking the way. She was about to reject him after all. Or at least, so he thought. She closed his eyes as well until she spoke again and he slowly opened his eyes. She was smiling. That was a good sign probably.
He tried to think of what he could possibly say. He couldn't express his feeling when he wasn't sure she didn't like him in return. He couldn't deal with being let down like that at the moment. No, he had to pretend that it was just an impulsive little thing that happened. Like it didn't matter. "Wouldn't you like to know," he replied simply, liking his answer. It was so indirect it revealed nothing. It could mean anything from the truth to that his mind was taken over by an outside force and he was forced to kiss her. Of course, that would never happen by his reply, it could. There was no saying. He never wished he could read minds more in his life. He was dieing to know exactly what she was thinking.
