I played the £1-2 at gutshot tonight and I managed to amass about £120 from my £65 in a couple of hours but i made the mistake of bluffing a poor player and ended up getting busted leaving with zilch.

Here is what happened:

I quickly picked up on the fact that my table was quite loose, and because it was pot limit hold'em there were many late pre-flop raises. If I played my usual game I would have been missing out on a lot of pots that I should have been winning so when a raise was made from the big blind and I had money invested with 44 I decided to play the hand. The pot was around £40 at this point.

The flop came down A86 all clubs. I checked from my early position and the rest of the table (4 people in total) checked around to the raiser who put in £30. Every one else folded and the play got to me. I put my opponent on a pair of Aces or medium pocket pair and I was certain I would be able to outplay this person by bluffing a flush. So I raised the minimum amount that this person bet, so £60 from me in total. The other player called me with noticeable regret and a ten (no club) came up on the turn. As it was me to act first I saw my chance and went all in ( just over £45 bet) and this person thought for about twenty seconds and said "oh well i call, if he's got it he's got it i guess (meaning the flush)" and very reluctantly called. The river came one more rag and I had to show the stunned table my pocket 4's, On seeing this the lady turned up her Ace Jack and told the whole table "oh i knew you didnt have it!, How can you even play that hand after the flop?, etc. etc."- What!? how can you play your hand after you put me on a flush??

Ahhh you horrid wench- How could she make that call when I played it just like I had a flush which she had no outs to win on the turn or river? and then have the nerve to jilt me afterwards after she had made such a poor call??

The lesson is don't try to bluff amateurs because they will call with next to nothing and do not know enough about the game or have the discipline to lay down their hand- even when they are sure it is beaten. Makes me sad...

Here is the hand again for clarity:

AJ raise to £11 from big blind
4 callers including myself (44)
Flop A86 clubs, check check(me) check- £30 from AJ
I raise to £60
Turn 10, All in from myself £45
AJ calls £45

lol, funny story.

all that event would do is reinforce the "wenches" bad play, so dont worry, you'll have a chance to play that hand the same way later, but next time you may have the flush.
