the Platter family saga (last I checked it was three books) by Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie, in original language.

The last three Hobb books (Solider Son trilogy)

oh, and I remember seeing a very interesting-looking book on admiral Nelson and the battle of Trafalgar...

The second and third book of Fernand Braudel's Mediterrannee

Rousseau's autobiography... now THAT can be in English.

and most of all, time to read them all...

i'm hoping for just bookstore gift cards. every one thinks "books! what an excellent present for lani!"
and then i get lame gift books with no reading value or thought behind the choice. i'd rather pick out the books myself.

but dante's inferno would be nice. i started reading an ancient shredded copy, and would like a paperback

I would settle for next semester's books not costing 800 fucking dollars and/or being something more than reprinted caselaw with .5% original content.

The Soldier Son trilogy too, that would be cool.

I just want the time to read the books I already have piled up on my desk. But I would really love the Black Jewels trilogy. The beginning of it seems interesting enough.

And, of course, GRRM's next book and book 12.

Yeah, I want A Dance with Dragons. That's about it. I wonder when he'll finish it. I check his website now and then for updates but all there is is commentary on football games.

Been a while since I've posted but I decided to share!

Heres a list o' the books I want:

Arc Angel by Anthony horowitz

Snakehead ( think that's what it's called) by "

Another copy of EotW, because mine is missing the prolgue and chapter 1 ( read it too much and pages are fallin out)

hm, not sure what else, not many good books that I know of are comin out this time of year.

btw the ending to Confessor reminded me of an M. night shamalama movie...though not as good.

nope, none.

But that's ok because I now have new wishes...

I want to travel like Mary Poppins. I think I almost did, this morning... should lose some weight, maybe that'll help?

and I want "the New Cold War" by Edward Lucas. "Putin's Russia" by Anna Politovskaya was very good, now I want something by someone who hasn't been killed yet for daring to say something about Russia...

How about Traveling? It's less scenic, but on the plus side, you don't need to carry an umbrella.

The book I want the most right now is German for Reading Knowledge. I use the term "want" loosely. I definitely don't want to pay $70 for it. Also I don't really want to read German... Sanskrit sounds more fun, but I don't think that will get me into grad school.

Mostly I need new bookcases - they're way above capacity, and I now have several little piles developing on my floor.

I fear the series may never be completed.

Don't we all. Never mind that Grrr's getting on in years, and we've seen what can happen there.

Well Nov 1 2009 is just a week away

In Two weeks we will have The Gathering Storm...I have already read the Prologue and the first chapter...it gave me heartburn...very dark...but we had 12 new named characters in the Prologue and another 7 in Chapter 1...but a major character did die in the Prologue...

It has been almost 4 years since {A Feast For Crows} Only One book in The Song of Ice and Fire in 11 friggin years...and still no {Dance With Dragons}
