Hey Colleen, I tried responding to your thread and couldn't, so I started a new topic.

I've been MIA for quite awhile, but I miss all of you. Maybe we could get things going?

I started re-reading the books and got stuck in book 4 after I left my book on a train a few months back. Then got caught up in reading Twilight (go ahead, point and laugh). Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new book. We should talk about it.

Yes we should. It comes out in late October yeah? I don't have time to do a re-read of the series, but I wish I did.

I hope conversation picks back up around here when there's a new book to talk about.

Rhuarc = Brian (me)
Ruh0 = Greg (not me)

The release date has been moved up to 10/27 now. The prologue is available now for $2.99 as an eBook through Barnes & Noble, Amazon, the usual suspects, etc. I just read it and except the first part little part, which was too long and you could definitely tell RJ wrote it, it was really good. There are some updates and scenes that will contribute to moving the book along that I really enjoyed.

Chapter 1 is available for free at www.tor.com. You just have to register with them and they put you on their email list. I read that, too. I have to admit it's much shorter. People are already debating who wrote what part. I'd say the prologue is most definitely RJ. Chapter 1 very well may have mostly been written by Sanderson.

I don't care.

The voice may sound different in some parts, but that's fine. It'll be hard to enjoy the book if we're constantly trying to pick out who wrote what part. We'll just have to get used to the fact that most of it isn't RJ and that Brandon is a good author in his own right. I've read one of Sanderson's books, Elantris, and liked it very much. He does great POV writing and the bonus is, he moves scenes along. He doesn't get too bogged down in describing a room full of people or nattering on about useless side characters or the color of dresses, breast size, etc. It'll be interesting to see if women continue to sniff so much in these next books!

If you don't have time to re-read the series (I have given up as I still haven't finished TSR), you might want to consider reading KoD again or reading summaries. Here are a few:

Dragon mount has a good main character plotline update in pdf format. Be sure you've read KoD before reading this though!
http://www.dragonmount.com/Books/Gathering...T_Recap_KoD.pdf

Chapter by Chapter, Book by Book summaries. Read through this if you have more time, but not enough to read all the books.

I'm looking forward to it. The characters are all buried in my subconscious somewhere; after a few pages it'll all come back to me. It's weird - I haven't been able to read much fantasy lately for some reason. I just start feeling like a fucking loser after about 50 pages. Glen Cook still works for me, and I just got a book by Italo Calvino that looks awesome, but all my old favourites aren't doing the trick anymore. Maybe TGS will change that?

And yeah, it would be cool to get this place going again. I've missed the forum.

Let us know what you think about it, Wise.

Has anyone read the entire thing yet? I thought there was going to be a discussion about it.

I just finished it today. My memory fails me, but I think it might be my favourite yet of the series. Everything that was good about KoD - fast pace, plots resolving, mayhem - and more. There's an amazing battle sequence near the end. Now I just can't wait for the last two books.

Who else's finished it?

Am about 3/4 of the through. It has a much faster pace than the last couple of books.

I know most cannot stand her but I must say "Go Faile Go!!"
