So yesterday I actually had enough time (gasp) to GO INSIDE MY GAME...!!

I immediately went to the Jones lot... and went in.. and just... played for a bit and realized I was feelin' kinda meh. And I was so depressed I shut the game and only felt better once we did our other Christmas-y festivities. But late last night while I was still stewing over it (oh yes, you bet, OH HOW I STEWED) I remembered something awesome that Kay and I used to do that I am now considering doing again, and THEN, maybe, a thousand years in the future once I finish, doing a new fully custom legacy within it.

I used to take many months and great pleasure in creating all custom neighborhoods, you know, with all your own townies, and buildings, etc. etc. I think I'm gonna do it and document the progress!

If anyone wants to try it with me, I was thinkin' we should keep each other updated!

I'm trying to decide what kind of neighborhood to do, right now... Do I want something more rural, more city-like... where do I want it... all the fundamentals.

Sounds interesting. My computer is like effed up atm but maybe when it is up and running. I haven't played in like three weeks so I am like really actually wanting to play! But lately I just haven't wanted to play.

{I am sorry you are depressed love. Happy that Christmas with the family made a happy time!}

I tried doing that and was like "Wow, this is more work than I thought."

I'd love to do it again though, just more realistic and not with some crazy underworld theme or whatever it was.

That is such an awesome idea ohmy.gif
I'd LOVE to have the time and the patience to do that, but sadly i don't think i can't D:
I'll definitely help if you need any suggestions or support though Amyerzzzz. And if i had to do a custom neighboorhood i'd probably build something city-like with some disney-esque buildings mixed in it O_O

Well hey guys, maybe what I can do is, with your suggestions and help, BUILD a fully custom neighborhood with all these cool lots, and then upload it here exclusively for CoCoLo! People could use it for their games to make legacies or whatever they want, and that way they could have this brand new empty neighborhood to empty the townies out of and generate new ones with the CAS replacements and stuff... and maybe to even start inserting all of each other's Sims that we have downloaded!

Does that sound like a fun project? I promise I'm a pretty decent in-game architect!

I was thinking of doing a kind of small suburban town theme, maybe a few neighborhoods of houses latched onto a main downtown shopping area? A couple must-have lots would be, like,
  • Bar
  • Upscale Restaurant
  • Diner
  • Grocery Store
  • Electronics
  • Pet Store
  • Coffee Shop
Then on one side of the "tracks" so to speak, I'd have some tiny houses and a trailer park type area, and then maybe some newer middle class homes, then on the other side you do the nice, old-style Victorian homes as well as the open farming areas.

Thoughts?

This could be totally wicked smile.gif

If anyone wants to try their hand at doing their own, like amy does with updating the progress we could incorporate that into the slightly dead legacy section

Maybe call it something like Coconut Isle or some shit like that, so it's like the "town" part of our game smile.gif
just a thought anyway

I'd totally donate some lots for this smile.gif hehe, i've got a couple of houses I'm totally in love with.

And amy you're more then a decent in game architect.
We need a totally dingy wrong side of the tracks bar biggrin.gif and then a totally hot upscale one. That would be wicked. I like bars and stuff XD lol

Janelle will have some killer ideas for this.
OHOHOH.

we need beach lots smile.gif
thats just my input anyway smile.gif

I'll do as much as I can, but I'm really not a good architect (okay, I can't even spell architect without looking...), but I'm willing to contribute what I can.

Eeee! I think this will be really fun you guys...!!

I... have to admit I.. am not very good at beach lots ninja.gif but I'd love to help out with stuff if I can, if we decide to do a forum-themed neighborhood! I think that'd be totally cute!

For those that are interested, I also started the aforementioned suburban downtown project.

user posted image

This is what I have so far. Just the neighborhood decoration and a list of shops and homes that I need. And then, someday, SOMEDAY, I can begin the painful process of townie-ing and LEGACY-ing it up! It's built on the REALLY TRULY EXCELLENT neighborhood map of Middleground by plasticbox on MTS2, only I named it Rosetree Lake and have decorated it so that I have a little more room for building on the main street.

What do you guys think?

It looks really good! Plasticbox's neighborhood is full of win to begin with, but adding your own touches makes it look even cooler.

I can't wait to see what everyone can come up with if people start doing this too.

Hi guys!! hug.gif

With my couple days of recovery time before delving headfirst back into the world of emergency rooms and IV's (ugh) I am working on my little custom neighborhood!

Today I built a tiny park, and the exteriors of a shabby diner, electronics store, cafe/restaurant, clothing boutique and some random store I have no use for yet! I thought I'd show you how it's panning out in the neighborhood screens, and once I have furnished the stores later on I'll show you that too! But I think for today I will continue just building exteriors.

Seph are you OK? What is going on? Are you ill? Oh geez I'm really worried now.
I know all about hospitals because I was ill for a period of about 5 years - I'm in remission now for some rare blood disease called "Aplastic Anemia" it's where I wasn't creating any blood on my own (non at all) so I had to get transfusion every other week. I'm fine now though, but if you ever just need to talk I'm there for ya.

Don't be worried, Tabbs, everything is gonna be all good! hug.gif

As it turns out, I have a congenital disorder with my left kidney, which has caused it to pretty much lose all function. It gets no blood, it doesn't filter anything... it's just kind of a useless lump that collects up wastes and then gets infected. The good news is, on Wednesday I am going in to schedule surgery to have it removed. The other good news is, as of right now, I have a stint put in it to help it drain so the infection can get better, and I get to eat a ton of protein and calories to try and get my weight back on before the surgery!

It's just that, I don't know how long it will be before the surgery, and I have like 4 different pills I gotta take at different times of the day so I am trying to take it easy, and building and playing in Sims is definitely easy enough for someone recovering from one hospital trip and preparing for a new one. smile.gif

Woooo! I finished the neighborhood today!

That large, empty residential lot is where I placed my new legacy. Holla!

The neighborhood includes: an electronics store and greasy spoon diner, upscale boutique, cafe and game room (a place to play poker, billiards, etc.), a bowling alley/arcade, ice-skating/roller-skating rink and coffee shop, Mexican restaurant, public gym, pet store and local grocery, and a large, open park that includes a playground, pond, gazebo, barbeque, outdoor chess AND a wedding arch. There are also random Maxis-made houses that I scattered about just to kinda fill in the blanks.

What do you guys think? smile.gif

Started on my original neighborhood today...hopefully this one gets a bit farther than my last one! I was inspired to make it after I finally got some Camera hacks to actually SEE whole neighborhoods, and downloading some original terrains. ^.^

Saint Valentine Ridge

Regular 'hood:

user posted image

I have nothing built for actual use - what you see are just little placekeeper houses I did a while back that aren't even furnished.

So...

To-Do:
The Opera House
An old opera house, that is now a kinda general hang-out place, with a stage and instruments so Sim bands can come and ROCK.
Pine Ridge Cemetery
An old cemetery that is a general hang-out to goths and ghost hunters, with a mausoleum and tombstones so Sim corpse can come and HAUNT
Mandrake Park
A nice park in the center of most of the houses, very tree-heavy. If I get Apartment Life, maybe I'll put in a playground!
Five Bay Park
What a weird name. I may change it. A more coastal park, with stuff near the lake. I may add a little pond for fishin'. = D
Jairo Coast
A general hang-out and boardwalk, with a lil' bit of everything - I want a little sweets store, I will probably throw in the tropical food stand, a small arcade, and of course, it's a beach lot.
Hechman's Organic Produce
A grocery store. I may even make the actual Hechman family - they're old old old characters of mine I never used. >_> ever.
The Compass Rose
I will either make it a purely decorative building, or a hotel, perhaps. It's a tower I designed for something that is modeled after a compass, doubt I'll get it how I want to look in-game since I get rather out there with things I draw.
Buddy's Diner
A classic red-and-white decorated diner with a jukebox. :3
Java Cafe
A coffee shop. A really nice-looking place, I want it classy in spite of the kinda silly name.
Kennel Kritters
Pet store. x3
Rare Books
A little book store with a cozy reading lounge.

The one occupied lot is Seb/Bjorn/Monkey King and one additional resident, and the other big lot is kinda for a legacy I may consider.

Downtown:
I love this first picture.
user posted image
It almost looks like the rainbow COMES FROM the cooling tower. : D
user posted image

I'm not gonna bother making a shopping district or original colleges - I hardly play them enough >< And I LIKE the Maxis vacation hoods so I'm gonna use those as well.

What I have done:

user posted image
Jade Gardens
A lil' Asian place I just put in...um...basically everything from Bon Voyage's Far East set in, haha, where you can have tea, noodles or hang out in the zen garden. ^.^ I didn't really think about the fact that I kinda..named it after a forum member since I'm kinda tired. blink.gif
user posted image
Flesh Mods
A salon and place to buy piercings - the salon is kinda funky since I imply in the description it's for really out-there stuff, like getting...IDK a bright orange mohawk with blue stripes whatever the kids are doing, just 'cuz most of my characters have kinda unique hair. XD
user posted image
Tundradome
ICE SKATING!!!! I suck at it, because I never really learned...and the one time I went my "friend" threw dirty ice in my hair she scooped off the rink, and I'm a germaphobe. >.< But...I still like it. Maybe because of Blades of Glory.

To-Do:
Pine Lodge
A kind of upscale woodsy-themed bar and tavern. I will use antlers in all of its DEEECOOORAAATING! So manly. The kind of place men go to be manly and tromp around wearing boots, and smoking cigars, and plot, take cheap shots and persecute harmless crack-pots. But more upscale than the place Gaston goes to.
The Lumberjack
Another woodsy-themed place, this time a kind of themed diner. Lots of carving decorations, and I imagine if it existed it would have a bear mascot, and paper placemat children's menus with crossword puzzles and crayons.
Robespierre's
The upscale wining, dining-and-dancing place.
Bayview Square
A general square, to put fountains, gardens and outdoor chess/picnic areas in.
Bayview Coast
THE BEACH, WITH BEACH VOLLEYBALL AND BEACHES AND PEOPLE IN SWIMWEAR AND SAAAAAAAND wtf
O'Malley's
A bar. The more every-man's bar, with darts and such.
Neo Valhalla
Arcade. =D
Milo's Electronics
A sort of cellphone/vidyagaem/general electronics shop.
Necrotronic
Cybergoth dance club! OONST OONST OONST OONST OONST see that is my techno beat.
Sub Bistro
Another, larger restaurant...I may put a little sitting area out front, and a side/alley basketball court.

I'm hoping this is just a fun neighborhood to kinda just chill out in, maybe start one legacy, and otherwise just make pre-existing characters that I don't bother aging XD

Jade Gardens is just as adorable as the Jade here at the forum! laugh.gif lovestruck.gif

WOW, your hood looks amazing!! You are far more ambitious than I - I could never design a downtown area as well. I'm just not that patient! Haha!
