Destination: Naboo Slight AU Chapter 5 Posted, L/M, H/L, surprise Guests RATED G!

I know the chapters are too short - its just the way they happened to be written. Otherwise, you'd see nothing but two more pages just of details about how Mara burned dinner, but forgot to tell Luke and Leia.

Chapter 3 is a little longer, chapter 4 is short, chapter 5 is a little short, chapters 6 and 7 are longer and then there's a very short epilogue.

so when do we get the next chapter?

Chapter 3 - A Lead


Luke sat down in front of his communicator screen and pressed the button for the direct line to Leia’s apartment. To his surprise, his niece, Jaina, answered.


“Where’s mommy, Jaina?”


“Giving Anakin bath.”


“Is your daddy there?”


Jaina shook her brown curls.


“Broken.” Was all she said.


“Ah, he’s working on the Falcon, isn’t he?”


Jaina grinned and nodded her head.


“Can you tell your mommy to call Uncle Luke when she’s done? It’s very important.”


Jaina nodded again and the screen went black.


“What did Leia say?” Mara asked, coming into the sitting room.


“She didn’t answer. Jaina did.”


Mara chuckled, “Jaina? What did she have to say?”


“Nothing much except that daddy was fixing the Falcon again.”


The communicator began to blink, indicating that there was an incoming communiqué.


“It’s probably Leia,” Luke said, glancing at the identification that flashed on the screen.


Mara nodded and went back to the nursery where she had been working.


Luke answered the communicator. His sister’s warm features filled the screen.


“Just got Anakin down for a nap. What’s up?”


“Mara gave me some ideas for how we should find out more about Mother.”


“So, who should we contact?”


“She suggested contacting Garm and Mon Mothma.”


Leia snapped her fingers, “Of course! Garm and Mon Mothma were two of the founders of the Rebellion. I remember Bail telling me that the foundation was laid right after the end of the Clone Wars. Maybe that’s where I heard the name Padmé before. Bail was talking about the founders of the Rebellion.”


“You may have something there, Leia.” Luke replied, eagerly.


“Luke, contact Wedge and see if he can arrange a meeting for you with Garm. I’ll contact Mon Mothma and then I’ll send you a message later with my findings.” With that, Leia’s screen went black.


Mara entered the sitting room.


“So?” She asked, smiling, seeing Luke’s big grin.


“Your idea was a great one, Mara. Leia remembered that she might have heard the name Padmé when Bail was telling her about the founders of the Rebellion years ago. It didn’t occur to her then who this Padmé was, but now hopefully we’ll find out.”

“That’s great, Luke.” Mara said, hugging him.

Chapter 4 - Putting it all together


“Yes, Leia, I knew a woman named Padmé, but I knew her by her formal name of Amidala. She was the Senator of Naboo for a short time and before that, she served as Queen.” Mon Mothma answered Leia’s query as she sat at her desk.


“Is it true that she helped found the Rebellion?”


“Yes and no. She did sign a petition to remove the emergency powers from Chancellor Palpatine. I suppose you could say that she did help found it, if it hadn’t been for her untimely death.”


Leia frowned, “Untimely death?”


“No one really knows how she died - but her body was brought back to Naboo by your adoptive father, Bail. He didn’t mention how she died. I did see a bit of sadness in his eyes - as if she had died very quickly. Then there was a state funeral for her as she was not only a Senator, but their most beloved Queen.”


When Leia went to report her findings to Luke, he said that Garm had told him the same things.


“Well, we have a few leads now. Padmé was a senator but went by the formal name of Amidala. She was the Senator of Naboo and before that, she was their Queen.”


“Aren’t most Queens crowned by lineage?” Luke asked, raising an eyebrow at this new lead.


Leia shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know much about the planet of Naboo. Perhaps it was their custom to elect their Queens and Kings?”


“Seems sort of unusual, don’t you think?” Luke asked, stroking his chin in thought.


“It’s the only lead we have. Garm told you this information as well, didn’t he?”


“Yes. In fact, he also said there was a rumor that a man wearing Jedi robes was seen sneaking out of Senator Amidala’s apartments near the end of the war.”


“Father.” Leia said.


“Sounds like it to me.” Luke agreed.


“It’s so sad. They weren’t even allowed to have an open relationship and then Mother died. We know that she probably died after giving birth to us, but neither Garm nor Mon Mothma knew that Padmé was pregnant. That’s why they didn’t ever make the connection and tell us.” Leia said.


“Makes sense to me.” Luke answered.


“I guess we’ll be going to Naboo, then.” Leia said.


“I guess so. Will the Falcon be fixed in time?” Luke queried.


“You know Han. The Falcon is his baby. He’ll have it fixed in time.”


Mara came into the room after Luke had finished the exchange with his sister.


“So, what did you find out?” She asked eagerly.


“We’re going to Naboo.”


Mara’s eyes widened.

I just started reading this halfway through right now. it's really interesting. I'm going back and reading the first chapters of your fan fic, jedi liz. great job. can't wait to see what luke finds out on naboo.

Chapter 5 - Naboo


“What is it, Mara? Is there something wrong with Naboo?”


Mara shook her head, “No, unless you count the fact that that’s where Palpatine got his start. In fact, he was their senator for a time before being elected chancellor. And we all know how that turned out.”


Luke nodded, noting Mara’s subtle pause at Palpatine’s name. Even now, years after dispersing the memories of her time with the Emperor, Mara still could not say his name without shuddering.


“Are you up to going with us?”


“I don’t want to interfere - it’s a family thing.” Mara said.


Luke shook his head, “Yes, it’s a family thing, but you’re part of my family. You and our baby.” At that moment, their baby chose to kick.


“She’s quite active today.” Mara muttered, trying to change the subject.


“’She’? You said ‘he’ yesterday.”


“Yesterday, ‘he’ woke me up at 0200 hours in the morning to use the ‘fresher.”


Luke snorted, “And a girl wouldn’t do that?”


Mara gave him a wink, “Nope.”

Two days later, Luke and Mara and Han and Leia were sitting in the Millennium Falcon, setting course for the planet of Naboo. Jaina, Jacen and Anakin were being cared for by Winter. Leia hated to leave her children behind, but knew that if there were any problems that arose on Naboo, it wouldn’t be a good idea to bring the children along. She did promise, however, that if they did find out about “Grandma Skywalker”, she and Han would take them for a visit some day.


Naboo. The planet’s blue surface spoke to them as they made preparations for landing. Luckily, Leia had found out that the Naboo people wanted to join the New Republic, so not only was this a visit to find out more about Padmé, it was also a diplomatic visit.


“What’s the name of the person you’re meeting, Leia?” Han asked as he made the final landing preparations. Behind him, Luke and Mara re-buckled themselves into their seats.


“Ryoo Naberrie-Rishé.”


“Interesting name.” Mara mumbled to herself.


“Yeah.” Luke added.


After they had landed the Falcon, Mara, Han and Luke rented a speeder and rode to the nearest accommodations to obtain rooms for them to stay in overnight. Leia stayed behind in the ship to get ready for her meeting, unaware of what she was about to encounter.
