I have posted this story over in my RedvsBlue journal but I was encouraged to post them here as well so that you could all tear them to pieces for me. I don't mind, in fact, I would love it if I could get some constructive criticism from anyone that would like to contribute. Also, if you have any nitpicky issues, especially with the first couple of chapters, please bear with me. I have not changed them around and left them the way that there were. But, for instance, I know that I go from X-302 to F-302 and use them both in the same chapter. Later, I settled on F-302. I also had them saluting aboard Prometheus, which is, I guess, something that is not done. But oh well. I know the mistakes now.
At any rate, any criticism, ESPECIALLY on the characters would be very helpfull. This is my first attempt at a Fan-fic and I want to make it as good as I possibly can. Thank you all in advance for whatever information or perspective you can give me on the story. Also, if you like it, please let me know! Edit: I am sorry that I made a mistake with the Header. This story will be PG-13 at the most. It is a WIP... if a MOD could please put that in the Header somehow, if it is possible, that would be appreciated. I am sorry, I just finished reading the more specific guidelines and I made a mistake. Once again I appologize for not doing something 100% correct. At any rate, Chapters 1-4 are up. Please enjoy. Edit: I just posed Chapter 5. This is a longer one so I hope you all like it. Edit: I just posted Chapter 6. It is introducing new characters and transitions from the old ones. I am getting cameos in. Edit: I just posted Chapter 7. I know that it is a week or so late, but I was on vacation and I just got back from it. We had a great time on it but I am still recovering from being tired. Hopefully I can get on my release scehedule and have the next chapter out on Friday. Edit: I just posted Chapter 8. I hope you all enjoy it! Edit: I just posted Chapter 9. I hope you all like it! Edit: Posted Chapter 10. This is a shorter one, but now I should be able to keep my release schedule to every friday. Edit: Added Chapter 11. I think that I am going to take a break for a while, about two weeks, and have a chapter up on July 15, same day as the new SG-1 and Atlantis episodes come out. On top of that, it is the same day for the new Harry Potter! So, yeah, busy day. Edit: Posted Chapter 12... at last. Edit: I finally posted Chapter 13. I am sorry it took so long. I have been so busy as of late. But, I hope that you still all enjoy it. Edit: I posted the final chapter. I am going to begin working on the second part of the story... probably another damn near full length novel. This one had 63,000 words in it. At any rate, I really enjoyed writing this story! I should get started on the next one in the next couple of weeks or so when I will be asking for a few certain people for feedback on the new sections. Also, I will be needing a new title for the next book. It should preview in about six months. EDIT IN: I gone ahead and changed it for you, but just FYI you can change the header by editing the first post. This is good for letting people know when you update, etc. You can also do this with any thread you start anywhere on the forum. Oh, and I also moved this to Infinites because it's a cross-over fic. Milky Escape
Chapter 1 General Jack O’Neill banged his head on the bulkhead. Prometheus, the cramped starship that had recently become home, was not known for its creature comforts. As he sat up, he rubbed the rather large bump blossoming on his grey haired head. With his other hand, he reached over, groaning to the intercom. “This is O’Neill… go ahead.” “Sir, this is Carter. Thor requests your presence on the Bridge, sir.” “I’m on my way.” Swinging his legs over the side of his bed, he pulled on his black duty shirt. Groaning at the clock and his whole three hours of sleep, he got out of bed, his stiff legs hindering him and only allowing him a few jerky movements. The cramp in his legs caused him several painful moments of walking. Finally, his muscles ceased their tightness and he was able to walk with some semblance of normalcy through the corridors of the ship. As he walked, O’Neill couldn’t help but wince. Panels pulled out of the walls, wires all over, lights destroyed. The battle with the Replicators had certainly taken a toll on the ship, and they were lucky that it even survived. He passed several crew members as he walked, all of them snapping off a quick salute which he just as quickly returned. The great people aboard this vessel had fought well, but they needed a rest. Something O’Neill was desperate to give them. Reaching the lift, O’Neill sighed as he signaled the car. Things had not exactly gone to worse, but they hadn’t gone better either. The panel on the side of the lift chimed and the numbers stopped moving. Swearing, O’Neill hit the panel, causing a few sparks to fly from it. Punching the intercom next to the door, he called maintenance. “The lift in section C-5 is down.” “We are on it sir. That is happening all over the ship. We need some new power couplings and crystals from the Asgard to repair the damage sir. Sorry, but you will need to walk to the bridge for now sir.” O’Neill sighed, his hand still on the intercom. “Very well.” Taking his hand of the intercom, O’Neill headed for the nearest maintenance shaft. As he opened up the hatch and started his way up, he realized he preferred it this way. No pencil pushing. No, he was a man of action, of substance. He didn’t like riding the lifts any more then sitting behind a desk. About 10 minutes later, O’Neill clambered out of the hatch on the Bridge deck. He looked up to see the smiling face of Doctor Daniel Jackson standing above him. “Have a nice trip up here, Jack?” “Oh yeah, you know how I love the inside of those service tunnels.” He gave Daniel a wry smile as he got up off his knees. “Where is Carter?” “On the Bridge, talking to Thor. It seems that we have encountered some type of wreckage out here in the void. It is just floating there, but it seems to be organic.” Daniel had an excited tone in his voice, one of the first since they had left the galaxy, fleeing the enormous force of Replicators. That force which had destroyed 90% of the galaxy, consuming all in its path and wiping out all who opposed them. The Replicators. The name of those little bugs still sent shivers down O’Neill’s spine. Oh, sure, they could hold their own against a few ships of the little bugs, especially with the help of the Asgard fleet and the new weapon he had developed. But it still was a scary prospect. If the fleet caught up to them, the fleet that had destroyed Earth, exterminating most of its population, they wouldn’t survive. But, that was a worry for another day. On approach to the Bridge, Jack could hear the dulcet tones of Teal’c speaking to Thor and Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter. “I do not believe it would be wise to engage in such activity, Col. Carter.” As he rounded the corner, he could hear Carter’s objections as clearly as if he were standing right next to her. “Come on Teal’c. Where is your sense of adventure? If these organic forms are able to survive out in the vacuum of space without decompressing, could you imagine how much we could learn from them?” The eagerness in her voice brought another smile to his lips. Another thing that had been of short supply recently had been enthusiasm. Perhaps this little discovery would be enough draw her back into her old self. Rounding the corner, he turned left into the Bridge. Most of the Bridge crew stood up and those that were, snapped to attention. Sounding out in her still formal military training, Carter stated the obvious. “General on the Bridge!” Looking around, he noticed that all had not sat. Thor, the little grey Asgard, was still sitting in his chair, looking up at O’Neill with his big black eyes. “O’Neill.” “At ease.” The rest of the crew sat while he walked right between Carter and Teal’c, giving Thor a short nod. Smiling at Carter he gave Teal’c a comradely pat on the arm. “So, what have we got here?” Daniel and Carter smiled at each other while Teal’c gave a little head nod and a glower. Carter stepped forward. “Well, sir, we have detected some kind of Organic mass floating out there in space. However, Sir, no ice crystals have formed on it and no cellular decay has yet occurred. In fact, most of the internal organs of the creature still appear to be intact.” O’Neill raised his eyebrows and just looked at Carter, a tired expression upon his face. “Carter… I just woke up.” “Sorry, sir.” Gesturing to Thor, the little grey alien pulled up a hologram detailing the outer surface of the organism. It was roughly ovoid with what appeared to be some type of hatch on the dorsal surface. There was also what appeared to be some kind of mouth towards the front of the ship that was still just barely glowing a molten orange color. On the back of the organism was a black disk, only 1 meter in diameter. “Sir, I think that this front part here,” Carter said gesturing towards the orange glow, “is the ‘mouth’. This top part here seems to be some kind of sensory organ. The back,” she said, pointing at the black disk, “appears to be how it gets around.” Thor raised his hand, manipulating the diagram as Carter spoke. “It follows our analysis as well, O’Neill. Most of the neural connections appear to be shut down and inactive. It appears to be dead.” O’Neill raised his hand, still appearing very tired. “Wait, if it is dead, what use is it to us? Don’t you need to study it to actually figure anything of use from it?” For a moment, Sam appeared crestfallen, most of her enthusiasm evaporating in a moment. “Well, Jack, we could at least take a look at the organism and try to get some type of feel for what it is and does… and what it is doing out here for that manner.” At this, Carter brightened visibly. “Yes, we could get a good look at its internal organs, its neural pathways, it’s…” “Carter!” O’Neill shouted, raising his hand. “It’s fine. You have the go ahead. But I want 3 X-302s out there in order to keep an eye on it and put the other ships on alert, just in case momma comes or something. Thor, you should do the same.” “Of course, O’Neill.” With that, Thor disappeared, transported to his ship, the Daniel Jackson. “Lieutenant? Tell Emancipator, Freedom and Liberty’s Virtue to be on guard. I don’t want anything to surprise us here.” The lieutenant monitoring communications turned around gave O’Neill a short nod. “Yes sir. Orders are away.” O’Neill now turned his attention to Teal’c. The former Jaffa and first prime slowly shook his head. “You don’t like this at all, do you?” “No, O’Neill, I do not. Something is giving me a bad feeling about this particular organism. I suggest allowing myself to pilot one of the F-302s, just to make certain.” Jack paused for a moment, seeming to think about. Glancing over at Daniel, his friend gave him a slight shrug of his shoulders before giving O’Neill a wide smile. “Sure, go ahead. Just be careful.” Teal’c gave him one quick, short nod and headed off to the launch bay. O’Neill sighed and slowly sank into his command chair. This is what responsibility did to a person, he thought. He looked up at the windows. The ‘organism’ was slowly spinning in space, and it definitely looked dead. But he and his crewmen and women had not survived this long by taking chances. Four Asgard vessels could also be seen through the windows; ninety degrees from each other oriented top, bottom, left and right to the Prometheus’ relative position. Emancipator, another Prometheus class vessel and 1 of six other human ship survivors, hovered directly across, its weapons armed and shields raised. Three F-302 fighters embarked from the hanger in the Prometheus, Teal’c in the lead. Carter, sitting in the science station immediately to his right and behind him, gave a small gasp. “Sir, this organism is SO advanced! Its neural pathways equal that of a human’s and it has several mechanisms to move it through space while still keeping it alive! Sir, this is the greatest xenobiological find since….” She seemed to think for a moment. “Since I don’t know when, sir.” The emptiness of the space between galaxies greeted Teal’c and his wing mates. Ever since they had left the Milky Way, the galaxy that they had all called home for so long, all that they saw was emptiness. Emptiness filled with nothingness. Nothing greeted them; no asteroids, no star ships, no planets and no suns. Nothing to live on except for what they had brought with them and what the Asgard were able to make for them. It was frustrating… but the ability to be out here, flying in space, was a release for Teal’c. A way to shake off the lingering frustrations of losing all of his brethren in battle with the Replicators. Teal’c brought his attention back to the situation at hand. The organism was sitting about 500 yards away from his current position. “Take coverage positions around the object. Keep weapons upon it and stay alert.” Giving his engines a little more gas, Teal’c approached the organism. He could clearly see the four capital ships keeping watch over his position, and waiting for any type of movement from the object. He knew that there was little danger, but he was still leery. Something just… didn’t feel right. As he approached closer, within two hundred yards, his helmet mike crackled. “Teal’c, be careful. We just registered some new cellular activity coming alive within the object.” “Acknowledged Col. Carter. Maintaining approach.” Teal’c armed his weapons, that lingering doubt still in his mind… Just ahead, when he was about 50 yards from the target, the warning screen in front of him lit up. “Break off! Gravitic anomaly detected!” Teal’c veered off on his approach, pulling up hard on the stick in front of him. His F-302 encountered a strange pull as gravity caught a hold of his vehicle for a moment… but then he was free. One of the other pilots, however, was not so lucky. “Sir! I am being pulled in!” A bright flash was suddenly within the ship; an Asgard transportation beam. The F-302 continued flying and was suddenly pulled in, engulfed by a singularity. It spun quickly and was gone. “Teal’c! Get your men out of there!” O’Neill called through the radio. “Acknowledged! All units fall back to the ships!” As Teal’c was issuing the order, the vehicle, or whatever it was, sprang into motion, leaping around and diving towards the Prometheus. “Prometheus! You have incoming! Raise shields!” Throwing additional speed into his fighter, Teal’c executed a tight turn, attempting to follow in the ship’s wake. Upon his getting on the fighter’s six, Teal’c recognized something strange. There were no thrust emissions of any kind from the ship. In fact, there appeared to be nothing at all propelling the vessel! How was it moving?! The vessel continued its attack run. When it appeared to come within range, an orange glow blossomed on the front of the vessel. As it brightened, an orange blob seemed to spring from it. Almost lazily, the blob picked up speed and approached the Prometheus. It struck the shields, sending a large explosion blossoming from the point of impact. “O’Neill, it appears to be some kind of missile. The vessel is breaking off and heading out of the area. Shall I pursue?” “Yes Teal’c. You and the rest of Ancient Squadron chase that thing down!” “Acknowledged. Ancient Squadron, form up on me!” Four other X-302s formed up on Teal’c’s wing and they all took off after the offending vessel. It was maneuvering well, veering in and out of the area, avoiding all of the fire from the capital ship around it. Teal’c noticed something strange, however. All of the shots fired appeared to be bend, changing direction as they were absorbed into some type of singularity, the same type that took out the F-302 earlier. “O’Neill, our attacks are proving ineffectual. I can almost guarantee the same results if we attack with the weapons we have on board the F-302s.” Carter’s voice came in. “Sirs, I think I have a way to neutralize them. All vessels, on my mark, fire at the same time at different points on the ship. Teal’c, order each of your fighters to fire their missiles simultaneously, each one aiming for a different point. On my command only.” “Acknowledged Col. Carter. Awaiting your orders.” The ships formed up into wing pairs and continued chasing the weaving vessels. “Herd it back between the ships! It will give them to most open area to fire in!” The F-302s continued to chase the enemy vessel, taking pot shots with the cannons onboard whenever the opportunity presented itself. Slowly, they were able to herd the organism back towards the open area in between all of the capital ships… “All ships, on my order… FIRE!” came Carter’s voice. Every single capital ship, Asgard and human alike, fired upon the strange organism. As soon as Teal’c heard the command, he bellowed the order through the comm. System. “All fighters fire missiles NOW!” Five missiles streaked out in paths toward the ship. Whatever was shielding the ship from the weapons before could not handle all of that fire power. Several energy weapons slammed into it, superheating water and tissue. The missiles finally hit, detonating the ship and causing several ruptures to appear on its skin. The vessel began to break apart, bits and pieces of the organism floating away and falling through space. Teal’c brought his fighter in close, still a little shaken by the encounter. “Target is destroyed…” -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! You have just become the victims of Dinner Squadron!"

Chapter 2
“Okay, what the HELL was that?!” O’Neill asked the assembled audience in the briefing room. Well, not really a briefing room, O’Neill reflected. More a storage room that had been converted to that purpose. “Carter? You promised me it was dead.” “Well… sir… it was dead.” Carter said in a halting voice. She was sitting in a rather uncomfortable metal chair around the table. Her papers and data strewn out in front of her as she looked up at O’Neill, her face a mass of confusion. “All of its neural connections were severed, its cells in a dormant state… Sir, I don’t even understand how it was able to maneuver like that! It had no brain mass that we connect and we detected no higher electrical impulses that would normally indicate an intell…” “Carter! That is enough.” O’Neill simply shook his head and sat down. This worried him, worried him greatly. Looking around the room, he could see that same worry on the rest of their faces. They were so close, so close to a new galaxy. This… discovery, however, changed everything. “I need to know this people. I need opinions. This is VERY close to the target galaxy. We are less then 2 days from the new galaxy. Was this being, or whatever it was, a resident of this galaxy, and if so, does it change anything?” Daniel was, predictably, the first to speak. “Jack, if I may, I don’t think it changes anything. We still need a galaxy to call home and a place to start over…” “I agree, O’Neill. We are more then capable of defending ourselves.” Jacob Carter spoke up next, his voice coming in the deeper tones of his symbiote, Selmak. “If we are going to enter this galaxy, we need to be prepared for anything. They could be hostile, but they could also be reasonable.” Jacob lowered his head and closed his eyes. When he looked up again, he, Jacob Carter, was once again in control. “I agree with Selmak, Jack. We should be prepared for another battle if we enter in and are unwelcome, but also shouldn’t be the first to shoot. We may not be welcome, however we may be able to make some friends.” O’Neill simply shook his head, trying to clear it. The Stargates and the Knowledge of the Ancients that they carried within their holds would go a long way towards setting up peaceful relations, but not if they got blown away first. He sighed and looked lastly at the two at the table that had not yet voiced their opinions. “Thor?” The little grey alien looked up from his chair, his black eyes taking in the entire room and its occupants. “This galaxy is one of the oldest in the records of the Ancients. It is possible that these lifeforms may have been some kind of experiments left over from their time. It looked and flew very much like a drone.” Carter finally spoke up for the second time in the meeting, her tone a little more enthusiastic then last time. “Yes, but in no place in the Ancient repository have we been able to find anything that was able to create singularities like that! I mean, they were absorbing all of our shots…” “Like some kind of shields.” O’Neill perked up. “Exactly! Small and artificial singularities like that while under complete control… Sir, we need to know more.” O’Neill sighed, a long and tired expression. “For now, we hold position here. I want some reports and some long range scans of the entire area and as far into this galaxy as we can get. I want to know if it will be safe enough for us to enter or not.” He stood up and the rest of the military at the table followed suit; the civilians at the table remaining seated for a moment until they realized the meeting was over. O’Neill shook his head and left the room, leaving his subordinates to the jobs he had given them. From this distance, the target galaxy looked peaceful, almost calm. It seemed full of life, of hope, and of new adventures waiting to be had. The days passed slowly as General O’Neill’s halt on any type of movement towards the galaxy drove those within the ships to near insanity. The analysis of the debris from the alien ship moved slowly and yielded few results. Even with the help of Dr. Zelenka and Dr. McKay, very few things were learned from the alien vessel. It was obviously some type of small ship, but its death left them with very little information to be gained from the fragments. The ship itself, after careful examination, was determined to be made out of some type of rock material that had organic components. Other then that, the small vessel had been so blasted apart by the ship’s weapons that nothing else was able to be gained from it. The scans from the target galaxy also proved very inconclusive; it looked exactly the same as the former scans did. Therefore, with no new information, a very difficult decision was before them… They sat around the makeshift conference room once again. O’Neill leaned forward, a tired and haggard expression upon his normally jovial face. He looked at each one of the people sitting around the room, catching each of their eyes in turn. “What have our scans and the study of the organism turned up,” he asked his assembled group. Col. Samantha Carter leaned forward, a drained expression upon her face as well. “Not that much more then we knew four days ago sir. The organism seems to have been made out of some kind of rock that was actually GROWN, Sir. We don’t know the actual physiology of it yet because we haven’t actually had a chance to see the organism in action. However, sir, we also don’t believe that it was capable of independent THINKING action. It seems to be very similar to an animal of some type. We believe that some type of being must have flown the thing, similar to how pilots would fly an F-302.” Carter paused for a moment, seeming to take a second to catch her breathe. Jacob, Sam’s father, took this moment to get a few words in. “Jack, the point is that this thing was some kind of organic space vessel. Beyond that… we truly don’t know what the being was.” An uncomfortable silence seemed to settle around the table as each of those attending the meeting took in this new, unsettling information. O’Neill simply shook his head and pressed on with the meeting. “Thor? How about the scans of the target galaxy? Did you find any information there?” The little grey alien just shook his head. “No, O’Neill. The target galaxy appears to have some kind of strange energy field surrounding it that is blocking quite a bit of our sensing equipment. We believe that this is one of the reasons that the Ancients found this galaxy so… intriguing. It also appears that, as we approach, the energy field is becoming weaker and harder to detect with our instruments. It almost appears as if the closer we get to the galaxy, we actually become a part and add to this energy field.” O’Neill looked around the room once more. “Is this field dangerous or is it going to somehow impede our progress into the galaxy?” The lower tones of the symbiote, Selmak, chose that moment to speak through Jacob’s voice. “We do not know. It appears to have no effect on anything we have been able to scan in the galaxy thus far, but we have not had a chance to directly observe the field’s interaction with any type of object, be it organic or otherwise.” Teal’c finally chimed in at this point, stating the thought that was rolling around in just about each of the military officer’s minds. “This could be some type of defensive weapon and it would be foolish to proceed without more knowledge.” He paused for a moment before looking directly at General O’Neill. “However, we may not be able to acquire more information without proceeding closer to the field. If we are vigilant, we may yet survive even if it is some type of weapon.” O’Neill put both of his hands over his eyes and shook his head as if he was trying to clear out everything that had just been said to him. “Okay, here it is then. We don’t know what the field, we don’t know what will be waiting for us when we enter, and we don’t know if there are any beings within this new galaxy that will threaten us when we try to enter. Does that about sum it up?” He looked around the room once again, a familiar, almost mocking scowl upon his face. “Very well. We wait here until we have more conclusive evidence either way. I am not going to risk the lives of humanity’s last hope on the fact that we don’t have enough information on the area that we are going to colonize.” There seemed to be more dissent then assent around the table, but no one really dared speak up. Except for one person. “Jack, we can’t just stay out here forever. We are not going to get any more information then we have already gathered. On top of that, the crewmen and women aboard our ships are going stir crazy from staying aboard these ships for so many months. I mean, lets face it Jack. People are going to start going crazy if we don’t do something, ANYTHING to get us closer. Besides, there must be many fascinating things about the Ancients to study in this galaxy, regardless of if there is intelligent life there.” Daniel set back and closed his eyes. “Also, just due to the fact that this galaxy is IN the Ancient database means that there was life there at one point. Possibly even Stargates… if the Ancients already had them at this point in their evolution.” O’Neill seemed to sit and think for a moment. “Daniel?” Dr. Jackson sat up once again. “Yes Jack?” “You really think that it is worth the risk?” “Yes… Jack… I do.” Daniel said with an exasperated sigh. “Is that snippiness?” Jack asked in reply, an old twinkle in his eye. The rest of the room chuckled as the inevitable reply came from Daniel’s lips. “Is that a word?” They entered the galaxy in a classic wedge shaped formation to maximize their firepower towards the front of the ships. No F-302s darted around space, however. They were all in the hangers, ready to be launched at a moment’s notice if they were needed. General Jack O’Neill stood on the bridge of the Prometheus, an intense look upon his face. The rest of the command crew was equally as nervous as he was, but they all had a sense of fleeting hope as they at last looked upon the vast array of stars that filled the forward view port. Lt. Colonel Carter bent over her science station as she studied the readings that were now flooding into the vessel from the sensors. “Sir, there are billions of stars here! This is a galaxy very similar in stellar composition to the one that we just left. I have a really good feeling that there may even be intelligent life still within this galaxy sir!” A grin slowly began to spread its way across O’Neil’s face. They had made it, and it appeared that there would be no problem with moving in here. “Sir!” a young Lieutenant called from the forward sensor station. “I am picking up multiple signals straight ahead of us Sir!” O’Neill looked up out the view port. Four large, long, lumpy pieces of metal flashed into space around the Earth and Asgard vessels. They look up positions, obviously intent on not letting them proceed any farther. On the sensor stations, O’Neill could see a triangular looking vessel taking up position behind the other ships. A shudder flew through the ship as the control panel at Carter’s station squawked. “Sir, we are now in some kind of gravity field. We can’t leave the area through hyperspace sir.” O’Neill looked at the alien ships out of the front view port, a look of sad resignation upon his face. “Well, I guess the next move is their’s then…” -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! Chapter 3
The silence on the bridge was profound. The three large ships floating in front of them made no move and the large triangular ship behind them continued to pump out its gravity cone. O’Neill sat with an intense look of concentration upon his face as he surveyed the scene in front of him. “Well, I guess now we know that the galaxy isn’t uninhabited.” “Sir, I have something to report,” Carter called from the sensor station. “It appears that the ships are metallic and not made out of the strange organic material like the one we encountered in Deep Space. Despite the fact that those large ships in the foreground look like organics, they are all different according to the scans, they are all made out of the same metal. I would love to get a look at that stuff if I can sir.” O’Neill could hear the enthusiasm in Carter’s voice and despite the gravity of the situation, he allowed himself a smile. “Get Daniel up here. He is going to need to talk to these people… if they are willing to talk at all that is.” “Yes Sir.” The Airman saluted and headed to the briefing room to collect Dr. Jackson. “Now, Carter, give me a run down. What kind of weapons does those ships? Do we even have a chance if we were to get in a battle with them?” Carter looked down at the screen as the sensor data continued to pour in. “Sir, while I am not 100% sure, it really looks like these things are bristling with weapons. I am getting energy readings coming from several small weapons emplacements all over the ships. They are not as powerful as our primary weapons, but they have a heck of a lot more of them then we do. Basically, sir, they would probably overwhelm us with all of the weapons they could bring to bear.” O’Neill narrowed his eyes at this report. “How about defensive capabilities?” Carter looked up as she spoke. “I honestly don’t know sir. However, it does appear that there are a few places on each ship that have more energy consumption then the rest of, what I assume to be, the weapons emplacements. They don’t seem to be putting out any type of power at the moment, but that could just be because they are waiting for us to make the first move.” As soon as she had finished talking, Daniel came running up to the bridge communications terminal. Jack just took a moment to look at him and catch his eye. “Jack?” “Daniel?” “What…?” “Just be careful with how much information you give out, okay?” Daniel simply nodded his head. “Unidentified vessels. This is Daniel Jackson of the United States Air Force vessel Prometheus. Please respond.” Nothing but static poured through the radio. “We are refugees from the Milky Way galaxy. We have come a long way to escape the destruction of our galaxy and world, as well as to meet you folks.” Once again, static greeted his words. “We would like the opportunity to open up a dialogue between your people and mine. Once again, we offer you peaceful greetings from the Milky Way galaxy.” Daniel let the silence hang in the air for a moment before looking over at Jack. “I don’t know what to say Jack. I guess that we will just have to wait for…” A low, gravelly voice came over the comm. Unit. “Extragalactic vessels! Make no aggressive moves! We will contact you shortly with instructions for a meeting. Admiral Onama out!” O’Neill simply looked over at Daniel, that same old expression on his face. “That went well…” The crews of all eight vessels stirred nervously. It had been several hours since Admiral Onama had contacted them and they had still had no world from the four ships straight ahead of them. They had maintained a normal operating condition with most of the ship’s systems powered down except for those needed to sustain those within the vessels. No one knew exactly what was going to happen, but they all feared that these people would not accept them and just kick them out of their galaxy. The tension was palpable and as time passed, it grew more and more evident in the way the normally crack crew performed their duties. The days dragged on rather slowly while they waited for a response. Teal’c had an uneasy expression as he looked at the F-302s docked in the hanger bay. Nothing seemed to be going right with the damn things lately, and the fact that they couldn’t fly them out to test them out was really getting to him. It would be considered an aggressive action and it was one that they could not afford to precipitate. He shook his head as he walked across the hanger deck, that glowering look still upon his face. The tech looked up at him, his annoyance at Teal’c looking over his shoulder evident on his face. “Can I help you sir?” Teal’c shook his head and nodded at the tech’s work. “Just continue working. We will more then likely need these vessels in the future.” The tech nodded, rolled his eyes, and got back to his work, once again ignoring the overbearing Jaffa who resumed his nervous pacing. Daniel sat in his cabin, staring at the exterior images of the ships that the Asgards had been able to provide. He was looking for markings, anything that would clue them in on who and what was in those ships. The writing on the outside of the vessels was minimal. There were only a few things like ‘Escape Hatch’ or ‘Docking Clamp’ written on areas for that reason. The language was similar to that of Earth English, and from the way the Admiral had contacted them, the syntax and pronunciation seemed to be very similar as well. So far, this was the only evidence Daniel had been able to find that the Ancients actually did at one time visit this galaxy or came from here originally. He shook his head, a tired, yet excited look in his intelligent eyes. This was going to be a challenge, and it would be one that he would relish. “I don’t know what to tell you Col. Carter. We just can’t seem to get any type of a finer focus on sensor readings. They just won’t calibrate like that,” the exhausted airman commented from the engineering station. They had been here, working, for a good six hours on getting finer sensor resolution of the alien ships so that they could determine exactly how their shields would stand up to the opposing ship’s weapons. However, due to some shielding or other variable, the sensors could not calibrate to detect the energy output of a single one of the weapons. Carter stood up and paced, eyeing Dr. Rodney McKay who was sitting in the corner, arms crossed, and looking at her with his normal haughty smile. She shook her head and continued pacing, just ignoring the pompous man. His stay on Atlantis had made him much more tolerable, but enough that she actually liked interacting with the man most of the time. Finally she stopped, rolled her eyes, and looked over at him. “Well?” “Its about time you admitted that I was smarter then you,” he said with his unique and cocky smile as he approached the sensor station. “Now, let’s try calibrating the sensors….” Jack O’Neill looked at the array of four ships that were holding his little fleet in position. There was still no contact at all with the strange ships, and as a result, he had not slept the whole time they had been in the standoff, nor left the bridge. In fact, at this very moment, he was running on pure adrenaline and that was about to run out. He was sitting in his command chair, just about to nod off, when the sensor station began beeping. His eyes snapped open, instantly alert. “Sir!” came the voice of Sr. Airman Neo. “I am detecting three more ships! They came out of nowhere!” “Okay, calm down airman” O’Neill commented, his voice calm. “Tell me exactly what you have.” “Sir, I have 2 of the triangular shaped vessels on my scopes. They appear to have exited hyperspace behind the other ships that are holding us here. They seem to be escorting a smaller, disk shaped ship that came with them. There are also several, smaller type ships, about the size of an F-302 accompanying it. They sort of look like X-shaped fighters sir. There are twelve of them.” O’Neill narrowed his eyes as he looked at the communication station. “Lt. Peagis. Do we have any type of communication with the new ships at all? And have we heard anything in general from our ever so wonderful hosts over there?” The lieutenant shook his head. “No sir.” Neo called over from the sensor station, his voice once again finally under some semblance of control. “The other two triangular shaped ships have stopped sir. They appear to be joining the rest of the vessels that are preventing us from leaving. The disk shaped ship and the X-Wing fighters are still approaching at a normal sub light velocity. They seem to headed straight for us.” “X-Wing. I like it airman. Put that in the database along with everything else that we have on them so far. Also, get Carter, Teal’c and Daniel up here. They aren’t going to want to miss this. Also, please inform Drs. Zelenka and McKay to continue working on figuring a way out of that gravity well. If we need to get back out of here, I want to make sure that we can.” “Yes sir,” the respective officers called. O’Neill sat down and just looked out the view port at the approaching vessels. For some reason, he had a feeling that this was a good thing, even though he truly did not know why. His gut instinct told him that as long as they were careful, played their cards right, and were good dignitaries, they would be able to find a friend and colleague among those that approached them. His thoughts were interrupted, however, as Carter, Teal’c and Daniel finally arrived on the bridge. “Looks like we have some type of dignitaries coming to talk to us,” Daniel comment as he looked out the view port. “I was hoping to be able to open up a dialogue sometime soon…” Suddenly, the comm. Unit squawked and a woman’s voice began to come through it. “Earth vessels. This is Leia Organa Solo of the Millennium Falcon. Please respond… -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! Chapter 4
“No, Han, I will NOT give up this mission. I know that I am retired but I am the best person for the job,” Leia sighed as she walked around the Falcon’s hold. Han was glaring at her from his seat at the Dejarik table, that usual glowering and overprotective look on his face. He had not been happy ever since they had left Mon Calamari for this little trip to the Outer Rim. The trip in hyperspace was taking them about 3 days. But, there was still a chance to turn around once they got there… if she changed her mind. Which she was not going to do. “Look Leia. More extragalactic aliens just means trouble! I mean, come on! We just got done with all of the Vong business, sweetheart. We were just starting to build our lives back up with Jacen and Jaina! Now, look where we are at! Gallivanting back across the galaxy, going into a potentially explosive situation with more aliens from outside the galaxy!” He fumed for a moment before shaking his head and looking over at her, love in his eyes. “We are getting too old for this sweetheart.” Leia shook her head before coming over to sit next to Han. Gently, she reached out and touched his cheek before he pulled her into a massive hug. “I know Han. I know. I promise, after this mission, we will take a vacation. Anywhere in the galaxy you want to go. I am all yours.” His eyes sparkled at the thought. “I hear the sands of Naboo are quite nice this time of year princess.” Leia smiled as she looked deep into his eyes. This was still the man that she fell in love with, despite everything that had happened the last couple of years. Inwardly, she shuddered at the things that had happened to her and her family these last couple of years. Jacen was captured, Anakin was killed, and Jaina had fallen to the Dark Side for a short period of time. All of these things were precipitated by the last appearance of extragalactic aliens, the Yuuzhan Vong. The strange aliens had used biological weapons the way that the inhabitants of this galaxy used machines and ships. Everything was biological for the Vong and they had a religion that left no room for compromise. The fact that they wanted to exterminate or convert everyone in the galaxy did not endear them to the people that had called it home and it ignited a 5 year long war. However, the Vong had gone through a transition and where now living in peace on the planet of Zonoma Sekot, the living planet. They had made peace through Luke’s, her brother, defeat of the Supreme Overlord Shimmrra. Jacen had then fought the Shamed One, Onimi, that was controlling Shimmrra through a bastardized connection with the Force. The Force. The one thing that binds the galaxy together, and the one thing that it seemed the Vong lacked any connection to. Despite the fact that they were living, breathing beings, they did not show up in the Force. This had perplexed the Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy and had added to an ever mounting set of mysteries that surrounded this former enemy. Leia just leaned her head into her husband. It was all over now, though. The Vong had been defeated in a peaceful way, one that did not involve exterminating the entire race. This was thought at first the only way to defeat the enemy until the legendary planet of Zonoma Sekot had been found. The peace was absolute and they were still trying to rebuild everything that had been lost. Now, more aliens had come into the galaxy… That is why she was here, Leia decided. She was here to head off a war before it even began so that they could continue to live in the peace that they had once again fought so hard for. Han looked down at his wife, just happy that she was able to snuggle into him again. He gave her his roguish grin before getting up to check the progress. Leia stood and followed him to the bridge. He sat down in the captains chair as Leia sat down in her seat. She grimaced quickly at the thought of it being her seat. It had once belonged to Chewbacca, Han’s loyal Wookie friend. He was the first of their family to fall in the war against the Vong, a defiant hero fighting the impact of a moon. She sat and looked out at the vastness of hyperspace as they traveled towards the edge of the galaxy. “At least we will have Rogue Squadron backing us up,” Leia commented. Han looked over at her and sort of glowered. “What, princess, my piloting skills are no longer up to par for keeping you safe?” Leia smiled and playfully hit Han in the arm. “Of course not. I was trying to make YOU feel better about the entire situation. Of course, that probably won’t happen until we are back home on Mon Calamari, will it?” ”Don’t you know it Your Highness.” “Well, why don’t we go and spend the next few hours before we exiting hyperspace pretending like the Falcon IS home and they we are completely and utterly safe?” Leia gave him that grin that Han so loved and was unable to resist. Han looked over at her, that lopsided half-smile on his face again. “As you wish your highness…” They exited hyperspace just behind the 3 Mon Cals and Republic Class Star Destroyer. The alien ships were dead ahead, their running lights active. However, they were passive and unmoving, completely non threatening. Their escorting Star Destroyers winked into space just behind them and took up protective flanking positions. Immediately they began to launch Rogue and Twin Suns Squadron. Twin Suns was still commanded by their daughter, Jaina Solo, and the Rogues were still flying under the capable command of Gavin Darklighter, now a Col in the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances Starfighter Command. The 24 X-Wings took up defensive positions around the YT-1300 freighter as it headed cautiously out on sublight speed towards the visitors. “No, Admiral, I believe that we will be fine,” Leia insisted over the comm.. “I don’t want your ships coming any closer and perhaps provoking some type of reaction from these people.” The Admiral’s gravelly voice came over the unit as he voiced his disapproval. “Lady Solo, we will not be able to come quickly to the rescue if they decide to turn aggressive.” She glanced over at the communications unit, an angry expression on her face. Her voice, though, was calm and collected like the practiced diplomat that she was. “Have they shown any type of aggressive moves at ALL yet, Admiral?” There was silence at the end of the line for a moment. “No Ambassador Solo.” ”Very well. And do you think by moving your ships closer, even though it is merely and attempt to protect us, that they could interpret that as a threatening action and take measures to defend themselves and their lives from YOUR ships?” Once again there was a long silence on the other end of the comm. Line. When the Admiral came back on, his voice sounded a little miffed and just a bit put out. “Yes, I could see that as a very real possibility of us moving closer Ambassador.” “As I thought,” Leia replied, a triumphant smile upon her face. She gave Han one of her one million watt smiles as she leaned into the comm. Unit. “Now, Admiral, for the last time, keep all of your ships, except for Rogue and Twin Suns Squadrons, back.” “Very well princess. One last word of warning. Our scans have indicated that they have much more powerful shields then we do. They will be able to take a beating and the proton torpedoes and concussion missiles the fighters carry will more then likely not be able to destroy any of those targets. Therefore I recommend that you have an escape trajectory laid out, just in case.” Leia looked over at Han who was crouched over the consol, already inputting the necessary information. “Thank you Admiral. That will be prudent. We will stay in touch. Falcon out.” Leia shook her head and looked over at Han who was trying to hide the smirk that was rapidly spreading across his face. Gently, she leaned over and punched him in the shoulder. “What?” Han chuckled a little bit before giving her a kiss on the cheek and going back to what he was doing in the pilot’s seat. “Nothing princess. It has just been many years since I have seen you browbeat a GFFA officer like that, particularly an Admiral.” He gave her another one of his roguish grins before concentrating on flying them towards the strange vessels that were rapidly filling their view ports. “It was very amusing to watch!” “Han!” Leia commented as she smiled. She looked out the view port again as she took in the strange conglomeration of ships. “You know? It seems like there are definitely two distinct patterns of ship design. I would wager that four of the ships came from one fleet, the other four from another. In fact, from looking at it, they may have even come from different races.” Han had a puzzled expression on his face as he leaned forward to look up at them, finally actually taking in the alien vessels. “You know what princess? You may be right.” Han gave them a critical eye before looking down at the limited information his sensors could give him. From the scans the fleet had taken and from what he was reading down, the smaller, lumpier ships were probably the equivalent of a frigate while the larger, smoother vessels were more like the shape and size to a Mon Cal. The energy ratings from the shields, however, were off the scale. On all of them, even the smaller ones. From what he was reading, they had even stronger shield then the Mon Cals, and they were over 3 times its size. Also, the design of the ships were remarkably different, and the size disparity could not be the only reason why either. “Leia, if this works out, we may have some valuable friends.” She looked over at him, a mock shock look upon her face as she began to reach for the comm.. “Han Solo you roguish devil you! Did I just hear you say that a good thing may come out of this whole situation after all? He grumbled, looking down at his consol as he flew the ship, muttering something about bossy princesses that remember everything you say forever. Leia smiled before repositioning herself. With a little shake of her shoulders and a deep breathe; she leaned forward into the comm. Unit. . “Earth vessels. This is Leia Organa Solo of the Millennium Falcon. Please respond… I am here on behalf of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.” Leia leaned in and listened to comm. Unit. “Uh… yes, Ms. Solo. This is Dr. Daniel Jackson.” Leia had a momentary expression of incredulity on her face before she thought up a proper reply. “Are you the commander of these vessels Mr. Jackson?” “Ummm… no, that would be General Jack O’Neill,” came the reply. “Ah, very well. Are you the diplomat then?” “No… well… I guess that I am sort of being co-opted as a diplomat. None made it off of our home world, I am sad to say.” From the background Leia could hear an impatient voice. “Daniel, just get on with it would ya?” Dr. Jackson’s voice came back over the comm. while Leia looked over at Han. He had a big grin on his face. “At any rate, we love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss a friendship between our two peoples.” Leia couldn’t resist the chance to probe for more information. “Our two peoples? Or is there more then one race represented among your ships?” The other end of the line was silent for the moment as the speaker seemed to be debating his options. “The other vessels belong to the Asgard, a race of peoples that fought with ours. We are the only surviving members of two galaxies and we have become one people through our battles together.” Daniel seemed to pause for a moment before he began speaking again. “Please, believe me, it has been a long journey. We have not come here to make war on you. We have come to establish ties and a good relationship between your people and mine. We would like to share information, technology and whatever else we can to increase each other’s school of thought and information about the universe and galaxy.” Leia paused for a moment before speaking again. “How do you propose that we proceed then Dr. Jackson?” “We invite you and your… escort to come aboard our ship, the Prometheus.” Leia looked at Han for a moment before he slowly nodded his head in assent. “Dr. Jackson, we humbly accept your offer.” (This is all that I have so far. Depending on what you guys say, I will continue the story or give it up. Thanks in advance for any comments or questions that you may have for me!) -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! Chapter 5
There was some kind of reception awaiting them as soon as they lowered the ramp to Falcon. Standing there was approximately 25 soldiers. They were dressed in green fatigues and were all standing at attention. Towards the end of the line, there was a tall grey haired man. He had the look of a military officer with hard blue eyes that showed he had seen more then enough action in his lifetime. However, along with that, there was a look of extreme intelligence there, one that was underneath all of his experience. Next to him was a slightly shorter man with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing sometime similar to a visor over his eyes. Upon closer inspection of the man, Leia assumed that they were some kind of visual assistance for the man. Stepping forward, she first extended her hand towards the military officer, a look of friendliness upon her face. “General O’Neill I take it? I am Ambassador Leia Organa Solo.” The man slowly shook his head and extended her hand towards her. “Ambassador Solo. It is a pleasure to meet you. Allow me to introduce the man that you just had a conversation with. Dr. Daniel Jackson,” he said, gesturing towards the brown haired man standing immediately to his right. Dr. Jackson stepped forward and gently shook her head. “Ambassador Solo. It is an honor.” Leia smiled as she shook his hand. “Dr. Jackson. The pleasure is all mine.” He smiled for a moment before speaking again. “Don’t bother with calling me Dr. Jackson. Just call me Daniel. It is easier and so much better.” He continued to smile at her and she could tell in his eyes that he was telling the truth. He was definitely not a diplomat or a politician, but she had a feeling that he was a very bright person and the Force was telling her that he was a good mind. Leia almost breathed a sigh of relief when she realized that she could sense them all through the Force. At least if something went wrong they would not be at the same disadvantage they were when it came to the Yuuzhan Vong. It also made her feel better all around. These people were like they were, despite the fact that they came from another completely different galaxy. Perhaps humans are one of those constants that were spread across the entire universe, not just this galaxy. Perhaps they were even connected more deeply then she had even begun to guess at yet! She was shaken out of her thoughts by Han reaching forward and introducing himself to Daniel and General O’Neill. She had a smile on her face as Han and the General began to spar with each other in the exact same manner that she had predicted. They were so alike, she could see, in their views and attitudes. Leia had a feeling that Han had just found a new friend. “Well, are we just going to stand here all day or do you people have a story to tell me and my husband?” Leia asked as soon as she could get a word in edgewise from Han and General O’Neill’s discussion. As soon as she had said that, they both kind of turned towards her with an almost identical looked of apology and embarrassment on each of their faces. Leia threw a quick wink in Daniel’s direction before she stepped forward to introduce the rest of her delegation. “General O’Neill, Daniel. Allow me to present Col. Gavin Darklighter of the GFFA Starfighter Command, and my daughter, Lt. Col. Jaina Solo, also of the GFFA Starfighter Command.” Both of them stepped forward and shook hands with Daniel and General O’Neill. They both smiled at Jaina and Leia took that as an encouraging thought. Her feelings about this meeting continued to get better and better and she had absolutely no doubt anymore that this would turn out to be a great thing. Slowly, she watched as the members of Rouge and Twin Suns began to mingle with the soldiers on the deck, looking at their own fighters. The starfighters they had were very interesting and she could tell some spirited discussion was going to sprout up soon. Daniel glanced her way and caught her eye. “Shall we go to the conference room?” Leia nodded her assent. They began to walk with Daniel and General O’Neill leading the way, her and Han just behind them with Jaina and Col. Darklighter following them. As they walked, both Han and Leia took inventory of the ship that they were walking through. It was rather cramped compared to a Mon Cal or a Star Destroyer, but it still had the solid feel of a good space-worth combat vessel. They could see several panels still apart and being prepared. Workers stepped aside to let them pass as they walked through this vessel. Along the way, they encountered a tall, dark skinned hum. Daniel turned around once they had reached him. “Ambassador Solo and Captain Solo. This is Teal’c,” Daniel said, gesturing to the tall, silent, dark skinned human. As she gave him a once over, she noticed a rather large, gold tattoo on his forehead. “Teal’c is from a race of people called the Jaffa. We have a few of them aboard our vessels, including his son, Ry’ac. They were former foot soldiers of our peoples’ enemies but they managed to free themselves from the oppression of the Go’auld. Teal’c has been with us for several years now.” Teal’c lowered his head and closed his eyes in respect for meeting them. “Ambassador. It is an honor to meet such a person from this galaxy. Perhaps one day we will join each other in battle against a common enemy.” He nodded once again in Han’s direction before heading off. Daniel cleared his throat. “His race is a warrior class. They are very great people though once you get to know them.” They started to walk again and Leia thought about something that had just been mentioned. “Who are these… Go’auld? Are they the ones that ran you out of your galaxy?” General O’Neill laughed and turned to face her as they walked. “No, the Go’aulds are, or were a bunch of snake in the head boom box voiced parasites that used humans as hosts. They had several powerful pieces of technology and ruled over most of the humans in our galaxy as gods.” O’Neill paused as they stepped into the turbo lift, taking them up a few stories into the ship. “Our people had been cut off from the rest of them for 5000 years or so until Daniel here figured out a way to turn on the Stargate.” Han, Leia and the others looked at one another, confused. “What is a Stargate?” The other two looked at her, almost unsure of what to say. “Perhaps we had better wait until we can sit down to tell you about it…” The rest of the ride lasted in silence. Finally they stepped out onto a deck and headed right into a small meeting room. It was the same room that O’Neill held his staff conferences and it wasn’t known for its amenities. There was, however, several chairs sitting around a square shaped table. O’Neill sat at the head of one table and Leia sat at the head of the other end of the table. As everyone else took their seats around them, a soldier from outside silently closed the door, giving them some much needed privacy. O’Neill leaned forward in his chair, looking at the assembled delegation at the end of the table. “Now, I guess here is where we are supposed to get all diplomatic and stuff. I have no patience for diplomacy at all. So I will tell you what we want and what we are offering to you. Then you can tell us if you accept or reject, in part or in full, of what we are offering to you.” Silence seemed to settle around the room as the visitors sat in shocked silence at what the general had just said. Clearly, he did not like the whole diplomatic side of negotiating that they were used to. This brought a smile to Han’s face after he had a moment to process it, along with the other soldiers also seated at the table. Leia, however, kept her face an emotionless mask as she leaned across the table. “Very well general. What exactly can the GFFA do for you and what are you offering?” O’Neill actually seemed to consider his words for a moment. He closed his eyes for a quick moment before sitting up and leaning across the table. “All we truly want is a place to call our own. Find us an uninhabited planet where we can live without pressure and persecution. We will join whatever government is ruling the stars and pay our taxes, along with establishing trade ties with other planets and systems with traveling distance from the planet that you would help us to find. We will also take up arms to defend our Galactic government as well as our neighboring systems should they need assistance of any kind. In short, we would pledge to be good neighbors.” O’Neill paused for a moment, seeming to once again collect his thoughts. “As for what you would get. We have the database of the Ancients downloaded into our vessels. We offer all of this knowledge freely.” Leia looked at the other members of the group, confusion etched upon each of their faces. “Who, or what, are the Ancients?” At this, O’Neill gestured to Daniel who leaned forward towards the middle of the table. “The Ancients were a race of humans. They had very powerful technology and were actually a very kind and benevolent race. They created the Stargates in our galaxy, as well as several of the pieces of technology you see in both the Earth vessels and those of the Asgard. In fact… one of the oldest, perhaps THE oldest galaxy in the Ancient database is the one that you currently call home.” Leia looked at her entourage for a moment before speaking again. She had decided to skip the question about the Stargates for now… she would come back to them later. “Tell us about these Ancients… especially if they once visited our galaxy.” Daniel looked over at them curiously before speaking again. “No, you don’t seem to understand. We think that they ORIGINATED here.” Jaina looked over at her mom, a questioning look in her dark brown eyes. “Mom… what if…” Leia held up her hand, stopping the question. “Lets let Dr. Jackson explain a little more about the Ancients before we attempt to apply them to our galaxy?” Daniel nodded his head in assent, a light seeming to sparkle in his eyes at the very idea of learning more about the Ancients here. “As we said before, the Ancients were a powerful race of humans that inhabited our galaxy. They lived there some 10 Million years ago before moving on once again. They were technologically advanced and had several colonies in many different galaxies across the stars. Their biggest legacy in our galaxy was a network of Stargates, large, ring shaped devices that opened up an event horizon and created a wormhole from one gate to another at a given address. While this may seem impressive, the Ancients as a race used almost 50% of their total brain mass, whereas we use about 7%. They also had special powers which included the ability to heal others and they had a special gene which allowed them to use their technologies and it blocked out others. Lastly,” Daniel seemed to pause here for a moment. “Lastly, and this may seem impossible, they discovered a way to ascend to a higher plane of existence upon death.” As he finished his little speech, a shocked expression blossomed over Leia and her entourage’s faces. They seemd to all give each other an uneasy look before Jaina looked over at her mother. “Mom… they sound just like the first Jedi and…” All of a sudden, alarms started blaring throughout the area. Red warning lights began to flash in the confined space, giving it an eerie red tint. They all stood at once; O’Neill gong directly to the comm. station on the wall next to the door they had entered. The others looked around, confused. No one should be attacking… the GFFA had jurisdiction and no one had risen up to challenge or wage war on them in at least a year. “General O’Neill!” came the strained voice of Lt. Peagis. “We are tracking four Replicator controlled Ha’tak class vessels emerging from hyperspace! They are coming up on our aft sections… they must have followed us from the Milky Way!” General O’Neill snarled into the comm., his frustrated voice all too clear. “Turn around and arm all weapons! Launch the F-302s! We cannot allow those little bugs to gain a foothold in this galaxy!” “Yes sir!” came the reply. O’Neill turned around, a sad look in his eyes. “I am sorry, Ambassador. These little bugs are the things that ran us out of our galaxy. We need to destroy them before they can gain a foothold here. Please, get back to your ships. We will do all of the fighting to protect your galaxy. However, any help that you could afford us would be very much appreciated.” He started to walk away before Han grabbed his arm. “O’Neill, listen. We will help. Let us get to the Falcon and our pilots to their fighters. We can get Admiral Onama to use his ships to back up yours.” O’Neill smiled. “Don’t worry, we can get you right to his ship.” As he gestured over at the little grey alien sitting in the chair, he moved a little stone and they saw a flash of light. Suddenly, all of the pilots found themselves back in their ships, ready to launch. Han and Leia looked at each other in surprise until he decided it might be prudent to get an engine startup going. Slowly, all of the GFFA vessels launched; the F-302s had been launched almost as soon as O’Neill had given the order. Quickly, the comm. unit squawked… a message from Admiral Onama. “Ambassador Solo! Enemy ships have just come out of hyperspace behind the newcomers! They ignored them and immediately began attacking us! Our shields are failing! Our…” As they exited the Prometheus’ hanger bay, they saw four pyramid shaped vessels pounding the MKII Cruiser that was Admiral Onama’s flagship. As they watched, fires blossomed along its sides as the weapons from the vessels, now down to three, punctured its shields. The ship began to break apart until the enemy’s weapons finally found the MKII’s reactor. A violent orange explosion ripped through space as its reactor exploded, sending pieces of the ship flying through space. Leia stood with open mouthed horror as she watched the exploding vessel’s violent death. The GFFA’s vessels were in panic… none of them really knew what to do with these new invaders. Finally, the Earth and Asgard vessels began to move forward and they began to fire ranging shots at the remaining three vessels. The two Star Destroyers that had accompanied them finally moved into the battle as the slashed up towards the stricken triangle shaped vessel. Green and red light poured from their weapons as they pounded the offending enemy with their turbolasers and cannons. Blue light of Ion cannons also came into the mix, pumping terajoules of energy into the derelict ship. Finally, as great holes began to sprout along the vessels mid section, it exploded, snapping the ship into three different pieces that drifted slowly and lazily through space. The two flanking Star Destroyers had finally come into the battle as the X-Wings from Twin Suns and Rogue Squadrons began to fly in and engage the small, black vessels that were exiting the hanger bays of the pyramid ships. The remaining three MKII cruisers began to swing up and around, attempting to outflank the offending attackers. Han gunned the Falcon forward, attempting to get into the battle as quickly as possible. Over the comm., General O’Neill’s voice came through as he began ordering his ships to engage the enemy. Grimacing, Leia attempted to contact the new commander of the fleet now that Admiral Onama had perished. “This is Ambassador Solo. Who is in charge over there?” A strong, female voice came over the comm. as soon as she asked the question. “This is Captain Ren Salazar, of the Mon Calamari starship Anakin’s Revenge. We are having a hard time with these invaders Ambassador. They seem to have very strong shields…” An explosion rocked the background in the transmission and Han and Leia could hear the sound of escaping gas. “Our shields have been breached… we have a bunch of little mechanical bugs attacking the bridge!” O’Neill’s voice came loud and strong over the comm. unit, his voice showing no signs of emotion. “You need guns! If you are using energy based weapons, those little bugs will overwhelm you! We are transporting a security detail over… they will help make sure that the little bastards don’t take over your ship!” “No!” came the captains panicked voice. “You are not to…” “Captain! Allow the transport!” Leia called through the comm.. Han was doing a masterful job of avoiding the weapons from the strange black fighters that had come from the pyramid shaped vessels. As Leia watched, one exploded as an X-Wing darted through the space the black fighter had just occupied. The other MKIIs were finally coming into the battle, shifting along directly across from the incoming extragalactic vessels. They had the enemy outflanked and they seemed to realize it. The shields of the pyramid vessels were glowing a bright yellow as they took hit after hit from both the GFFA forces and the ships from Earth. Finally, another one of the ship’s shields were breached. Pieces of the vessel began to fly out through space, and despite the fact that the Earth ship’s shields could easily handle the debris, they were clearly making an effort to both destroy the pieces of debris and avoid coming into contact with it. The GFFA vessels were making no such attempts, and as she watched, a piece of debris went directly through the Star Destroyer Ackbar’s Rememberance shields and impacted with the hull. A small explosion was seen as that area immediately began to vent atmosphere. Finally, the other two vessels were being whittled down under the withering assault from the Star Destroyers, Mon Cals and the Earth vessels. A volley of proton torpedoes from Rogue Squadron, 24 in all, flew towards the weakened dorsal shield of one of the ships. A few of them detonated against the shield in a ragged series of explosions before the rest found the gaps. They struck the hull of the alien ship again, sending pieces of flaming debris flying away from the vessel. The small fires within the vessels stopped immediately as they were deprived of the oxygen that they needed to burn. The Prometheus angled in and began to fire point blank at the hole opened by the X-Wings. The weapons must have hit something, because the ship exploded, ripping itself to pieces as it detonated, severely damaging the MKII cruiser, the Bakura’s Salvation, causing it to drift through space as it engines thrusted in uncontrolled directions. The last remaining pyramid vessel finally detonated, breaking itself in half as the flaming pieces drifted apart. Leia took a deep breathe as she survey the wreckage. She had not seen a battle like this in many years and the carnage was terrible. They had lost one MKII, one was severely damaged and Anakin’s Revenge had some bug aliens on it. She had a feeling that this did not bode well… O’Neill’s voice came through the comm., and she could detect a slight hint of relief in his tone. “We are sorry about the loses your forces incurred, Ambassador. We were about to tell you about them… and we did not expect them to follow us here. However, our security detail was successful in destroying the Replicators that had gotten aboard your vessel and we have destroyed them. Hopefully we destroyed all of the vessels that followed us and there are no more out there to trouble you.” Suddenly, Ackbar’s Rememberance cut away from the group and flew directly out of the system. There was no communication with the vessel and it immediately vanished into hyperspace, heading out… out of the galaxy and back the way the pyramid vessels came… -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! Chapter 6
The Earth vessels moved around and began to tow the stricken Bakura’s Salvation back into line with the other GFFA vessels. Recovery operations had begun for the EV pilots that had been shot out of their vessels. Most of the vessels in his little fleet had been okay, but O’Neill was angry. Here they had come to find a new place to live, away from those little bugs, and they had led them here. He banged his head on the bulkhead as he leaned against the wall. There was nothing for it. They would have to stay and help defend these people from those little bastards that ate metal for breakfast. If only they had not lost that… what did she call them? That Star Destroyer, they would not be in that situation. He once again resumed his journey to the docking bay. They had to get a battle plan going with the GFFA or those little bugs would overrun this galaxy as well… and it would be all their fault. As O’Neill approached the gathering of people, he realized that he would now have to spend most of his time behind a desk and away from the action. He clenched his fist in anger. Now he would have to make a decision on who to leave in charge of the fleet while he, Thor and the rest of his staff spent time with the GFFA commanders to formulate some kind of war plan. He was interrupted from his musings by Daniel calling his name. It appeared that he was talking to Ambassador Solo and a human wearing a brown robe. The man’s hair was unkempt and messy. He had deep blue eyes and a brown beard that was just beginning to grow. He had the look of extreme intelligence and as he approached, he saw the smile on Daniel’s face that said he had found something ‘fascinating’. “Jack! Let me introduce Jedi Master Arizona,” Daniel said, gesturing to the man standing next to him. Arizona stepped forward and held his hand out to Jack. Slowly, Jack stepped forward and took the man’s hand, the warm smile spreading across his face showing parts of personality. “It is a pleasure to meet you general. And may I say that it will be a pleasure working with whomever you leave in charge of your fleet.” Still smiling, Arizona let go of Jack’s hand. “I can see by the look on your face that you do not know what Jedi are. Well, the long and short of it is that we have access to the Force, an energy field that comes from all living things. You are a part of it and so are we. We are the guardians of peace and justice in the Republic.” He smiled. It wasn’t a condescending smile, or even a haughty one. Just a genuine smile. “In fact, General O’Neill, I sense a great deal of potential in you. Perhaps someday you could be a great Jedi yourself.” Shock radiated out on his face for a moment. Daniel, absolutely loving every minute of it, leaned in. “Jack, I think it has something to do with your Ancient gene. While I am not certain, I believe that the Jedi of this galaxy are very similar to the Ancients. They have similar ablities and they seem to ‘ascend’ when they die. I believe, although I don’t have any evidence to back this up yet, that the Jedi are descendents of the Ancients and are another step in between Ascension and regular human existence.” Daniel smiled at the thought of discovering more about both the Ancients and the Jedi… if he could get a hold of some information. Arizona laughed at Daniel’s obvious want of information. “I am sure that we can get you some time on Obroa-Ski Dr. Jackson. However for now I would like to introduce you to my fellow Jedi.” He gestured behind him as five other Jedi walked forward. “General O’Neill. May I introduce Jedi Master Bash, Jedi Knight Fred and his padawan Brakus, Jedi Knight Berdo and Jedi Master Jaycee.” They were all in brown cloaks with hoods draped down their backs. Bash was of average build and height with shaggy brown hair and dark brown eyes. Fred, and his padawan Brakus, were of about the same height. Fred had blue eyes and grey hair. He was obviously an older Jedi and his showed extreme intelligence and experience. Brakus was of a different sort, despite being the same height as his teacher. He was not human. His face had sort of a mousy look and his ears were rather large. He looked almost exactly like a child’s stuffed toy. Berdo was once again not human. Fur covered every inch of his exposed body and it rippled as his emotions flickered and were expressed. Later, O’Neill would come to learn that he was a Bothan. Finally, Jaycee was a human female. She was petite, but O’Neill could see that her frame held a lot more power then it would appear at first glance. She had deep green eyes and shoulder length brown hair. She had a very fair face and O’Neill had the impression that she had broken several hearts in her day. As O’Neill took stock of the Jedi, Arizona leaned in. “Believe me General. They may seem like a motley bunch, but trust me when I say that they are very good at what they do. They are all very strong in the Force and more then capable of helping your officers defend the fleet from both the Replicators and anything else… unexpected that this galaxy may throw at you.” Slowly, Jack nodded his assent before heading towards the F-302 that was coming in. “Here comes the commander that I am going to leave in charge right now.” The F-302 came in for a smooth landing, its maneuvering jets easily handling the gravity of the docking bay. The canopy hissed open and a ladder was quickly rolled up to its side. Quickly, a figure dressed in a grey jumpsuit and a black helmet climbed down the ladder. As soon as it reached the bottom of the ladder, the figure removed its helmet, revealing the face of a rather beautiful young woman. Swiftly, she approached General O’Neill and stood at attention. “Lt. Colonel Rose reporting for duty Sir!” “At ease Colonel,” O’Neill replied. He gestured over to Arizona who quickly gave Rose a once over. She was a beauty, that was for sure. She had shoulder length brown hair tied back into a ponytail. She had a lovely face and deep, piercing blue eyes. Nothing more could really be told about her from his vantage point as her flight suit covered the rest of her body. O’Neill gave her a once over as well before speaking. “Colonel. I am going to leave you in charge of the fleet in my absence. I am going to be taking Prometheus to their capital of Mon Calamari to work out the details of this war. Your standing orders will be to use the Fleet and hunt down any and all Replicator incursions into this galaxy and destroy them. I am going to give you lenience in excercising your orders, however. If the danger is too much, fall back and call for reinforcements. I do not want to lose men or ships in a battle that shouldn’t be fought. Do you understand the orders Colonel?” She looked around at the others around before nodding. “I understand Sir.” “Good,” O’Neill replied. “Now, this is Jedi Master Arizona. He is going to be in charge of the Jedi Knights the GFFA is stationing aboard our vessels.” Once he introduced them, O’Neill shook his head. “Now I get to leave you here, doing the job that I sort of like going to the job, that I abhor; diplomacy. Colonel, I will leave you to it then.” Slowly, he began to walk away with Daniel before turning around once again. “Colonel, the only vessels I will be taking with me is Prometheus and the Daniel Jackson. I will be leaving the rest here at your disposal, including the other three Asgard ships under the command of Tyr. Good luck Colonel.” As he walked away, she called after him. “General! One moment if I may!” O’Neill stopped once again and turned as she ran up to him. “Sir, I would request that Lt. Peagis and Airman Neo be transferred to my command. They were on the Prometheus and at the sensor station when we first detected the new vessels, so they currently have the most experience.” Jack mulled over it a moment, running his hand through his grey hair. “Request granted Colonel. Anything else you require?” “Other then a transport back to Liberty’s Virtue before you leave for myself and the… Jedi… no Sir. I should be perfectly fine.” O’Neill nodded once again before spinning around and heading back into the bowels of the ship towards the bridge. As her commanding officer walked away, Col. Rose looked over at the others, giving them a critical, yet welcome eye. Arizona could tell that she was going to welcome the help, but wouldn’t put up with any type of interference either. “Jedi Arizona. While I respect who and what you are and what you are going to be doing here, I don’t want you to be in my way. Is that clear?” He shook his head, a smile still upon his face as he gave her a sort of half bow of respect. “Of course Colonel. We understand completely.” Nodding her assent, she headed towards the vessel that General O’Neill had set aside for their transfer over to the Virtue Airman Neo and Lt. Peagis had just arrived and were waiting inside the Go’auld Cargo vessel. “Then lets go get you settled into your new home and meet my counterpart from the GFFA fleet.” Lt. Colonel Anne Rose sighed as she leaned back in her command chair aboard the Prometheus class vessel, Liberty’s Virtue. This was something she had strived for and worked towards for many years, and it had all finally come true. Here she was, a 36 year old career Air Force woman and she had command of three Prometheus class vessels and was nominally in charge of the three remaining Asgard O’Neill class vessels. While the situation that landed her here was nothing to smile about, she couldn’t help but be happy with the fact that she had finally made it to where she wanted to be. Before the Replicators had attacked in full force, she had been stationed in the SGC under Maj. General George Hammond. She had been second in command of SG-2 under the command of Col. Faretti for three years. She had started as a young captain when she had joined and rapidly climbed the ranks as she proved herself over and over again in off world missions. She had even attracted the attention of Maj. Samantha Carter who had helped her improve her standings with both General Hammond and second in command of the SGC Col. Jack O’Neill. All of her hard work had landed her aboard Liberty’s Virtue under the command of Col. John Grail. She had served with distinction, climbing from Major to Lieutenant Colonel due to her command abilities. When Col. Grail had been killed when the bridge of the Virtue had been exposed to space while fighting the Replicators, she had taken command of vessel. After surviving that encounter, she had been able to drag the vessel to a refit station where the Asgard were able to repair the vessel. Once she had caught up to Col. O’Neill and the Prometheus, he had given her command of the vessel and all aboard her as a reward for keeping the vessel intact and alive despite the massive Replicator attack. Once with his small survivor fleet, she had served with distinction and honor, training her crew and helping to get them out of countless situations. And now… Now she was in command of the last fleet that Earth would ever put together. Here she was, commanding an Asgard and Earth combined fleet that was being bolstered by forces that were completely unknown to her. In fact, her mind was still spinning, still completely boggled that she had been chosen to command these forces. On top of that, her job was the most important one that could be given: defend the galaxy from the Replicators and prevent them from getting a foothold here. It was crucial and it was probably impossible. Rose put her elbow on the armrest of her commander’s chair as she ran her hand through her hair. It was down now, one of the few things that she allowed on her ship that wasn’t strictly military. It made people just a tad more relaxed which allowed them to go about their duties in a slightly more efficient manor. How she would do this she had no idea. But, she would figure it out. And with the GFFA ships at her side along with these super beings, these Jedi, she thought that they just might be able to succeed… “Deep in thought huh?” The words cut through her personal reflection like a knife, bringing her back to the here and now. “Jedi Master Arizona! I am sorry, I didn’t even here you come to the bridge.” “Well, that is one of the things that we find we are very good at. Not necessarily sneaking around, just good at not broadcasting the fact that we are coming from a mile away.” He had an easy smile on his face and she could tell that it was simply playful banter. “Well it is a good thing that we have you aboard then,” she said in reply. “Oh, I think that our abilities should help you at least a little bit to survive in this galaxy. Besides, with us here as guides, we may be able to help with finding places in this galaxy where the little bugs may hide.” He still had that sames smile on his face, but there was something else there too. She decided to ignore it for now, however. Rose opened her mouth to reply when a bright flash interrupted her. Just before her, an Asgard sat in his chair, his large eyes looking up at Arizona and herself. Smiling she looked at the alien. “Tyr. It is good to see you. Are the Asgard vessels ready for departure?” “They are nearly ready Col. Rose. I am here to make sure that you are ready and to find out a little bit our GFFA counterpart.” The turned his large head towards Arizona who was looking at the alien with a sort of bemused detachment. “You know, we have aliens similar in bearing to you, although not nearly as intelligent. They are called Ewoks, and they live on the forest moon of Endor…” “Col. Rose?” the newly promoted Captain Peagis called. “I have Captain Ren on the comm. for you.” “Give me a moment Captain,” she told Peagis. Quickly, she looked over at Arizona. “What can you tell me about Captain Ren?” Arizona shrugged, a look of disinterest on his face. “Never really met the woman. Word is in the fleet that she is a very capable commander and knows what risks you can take with a Star Destroyer and what you can’t.” He hesitated a moment before speaking. “However, there are also rumors that she is a hot head and can be set off pretty easily if she can’t be reigned in.” Rose nodded and gestured to Peagis. “Open the channel please.” Captain Ren’s face appeared on the screen. Her hair was pulled back into a tight bun and she had a look of patience upon her face. Her brown eyes belied intelligence and she actually had a very calm look upon her face. “Col. Rose, allow me to introduce myself. I am Captain Ren of the Anakin’s Revenge and commander of the GFFA fleet that has been designated to accompany you.” Rose nodded in acknowledgement. “Allow me to introduce Jedi Master Arizona and Tyr, the Asgard commander.” Ren nodded a moment before continuing. “Now, let me just say something. We will follow your lead because you have the experience when it comes to fighting the Replicators. However, despite the fact that you are officially in command of this mission, I will not follow your orders without due consideration and I DO expect you to follow my commands and orders while in GFFA space. Also..” she paused for a moment before continuing. “If you do anything that puts my men at risk, we will not hesitate to take action.” Rose narrowed her eyes for a moment, unsure of exactly what was occurring. “Did you just threaten me Captain?” Ren gave her a cold smile before continuing. “Of course not Colonel! I am merely stating that we will do whatever it takes to preserve the integrity of the Republic… your orders not withstanding.” Rose glared at the monitor for a moment, not quite sure of what to say. “You do realize that this is a clear disruption of the chain of command and it could very well put more lives in danger… mostly YOUR lives since it would appear you are willing to go off on your own at a moment’s notice.” Ren shook her head, the cold smile spreading up into her eyes, turning them almost to ice. “I know very well what I am saying, Colonel. Just stay out of my way.” With that, the screen turned to static, cutting off whatever reply Rose may have formulated. Arizona leaned back against his spot on the wall, a small smile spreading across his face. “Two women vying for power… anyone want to take bets?” -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! I just got around to reading this, sorry it took so long.
Anyway, I like it! Only one thing.. while I like (and am flattered) that we're all in it... I am kinda sad to think the rest of this will be no O'Neill, Han, etc. Please tell me this is just a side thing and we'll go back to the originals? I write them pretty well and I can't wait to see O'Neil on Mon Cal - maybe talking to Luke or Mara (god that would be funny). But it's your fic. Next post soon? -------------------- Imperalist

It is perfectly fine. We are all busy people.
As for the main characters, I will probably go back and forth with those characters kind of being in command of the overall war while the ones that I have sort of made up will be on the front lines. So the story will mostly focus on them with the Main characters sort of being add ons to the story. I have a problem with writing them effectively, I think, while staying true to their personalities. I feel sort of limited when I mess with them, so I will use them, but use them sort of sparingly. -------------------- "Attention Implaccable! You have just become the victims of Dinner Squadron!"

I just realized that I said "I write them really well" when I meant to say "YOU write them really well"... don't ask me why I did that... guess I was thinking about what I wanted and was getting a little egotist... sorry
And I'd glad to see them coming back! I hear what you say about being limited by their already set personalities... fair enough. Should be interesting. -------------------- Imperalist
