Am I the only one who likes the way this movie is shaping up? The cast seems to be made up of great people. Chicklas kicks ass!

I swear this movie looks dummer every time I see the trailer for it... which is about every ten minutes at work because we have a touch-screen that plays trailers in the lobby and when no one is picking it just cycles through...

I am a little undecided, some aspects of it do look good. But other parts seem really chessy. Stupid lack of originality in Hollywood, a few superhero/comci movies were successful so now it is kitsch to make them. I swear Stan Lee won't stop until every Marvel character ever has a movie.
Best thing I've seen relating to this film.

Per most comic movies, I will reserve judgement until I see it. I have seen shots that have potential, and shots that seriously worry me

going to see it tommorrow...I read a review in the paper about i, and they have massively changed the story....supposedly, Reed is a failing inventor who begs his old college buddy Doom for a job, and Sue Storm is dating Doom, and Grimm and Johnny Storm are both pilots, and Johnny beats out Grimm to piot the ship.....honestly, these changes dont sit welll w/ me, maybe the movie will make it work...I will find out tomorrow

I posted this on RvB but I know not every is on there or reads my journals so here is my mini review of the film.

Right off the bat let me say that I know of the comic characters but have no real knowledge of them so I can't compare the film to it. So I'm judging it solely on it's merits as a film. It was a decently entertaining film, a basic summer popcorn flick. There wasn't really anything spectacular about it but nothing spectacularly wrong either. What I strongly disliked was the fact that most of the film is a fairly slow setup for the last fifteen minutes or so of it. There were some more exciting/action oriented parts in it but most was somewhat boring. It felt like they wrote the film as a biographical piece on all the characters then decided at the last minute they needed some classic superhero vs. supervillain action. Speaking of supervillains I loved Dr. Doom. The character is pretty cool anyway but the guy playing him, Julian McMahon, did a great job playing the charismatic but evil bastard villain. I felt some of the best acting/character moments came from Michael Chiklis who plays Ben Grimm, better known as The Thing. While the rest of the four appear normal and can choose to use their abilities he is permanently the way he is and does not look normal at all. His character was written so that you feel very sympathetic toward him. It is kind of the essence of the desire we all have to be accepted for who we are. In fact it would have been just a good a movie if the had written around the one character and fleshed out his story and emotional conflicts. Once the film did get to its ending though the action was pretty fast and good. Kind of typical now that Marvel has decided every series ever needs to be put on the silver screen but still exciting and fun. One final thing I liked is that they wrote a good ending. I won't say what, but if you go see it yourself I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Just came back from the movie theatre after watching this movie. I enjoyed it!

Of course what Katana covered already is true, but I didn't feel that any part of the movie was really boring. Doom felt off to me (of course, I'm not exactly the person you want to ask about Doom the comic character or anything), and there was at least 3 times that I think The Thing would have tried to kill The Human Torch. Torch was a jerk in the movie for the most part, and I think that was a flaw in the movie that The Thing didn't clock him every time Torch made a crack about his appearance.

I found myself more interested in Reed Richards than The Thing or even The Human Torch. I think he gets the short end of the stick here -- even though the movie tried to make the rivalry between Doom and Reed one of the biggest plot points in the movie.

Now I wasn't a Fantastic Four comics fan, (actually I never read a single FF comic) but after seeing The Thing portrayed in the movie I don't see how anyone can put him on the same level as the Hulk. I dunno, maybe I just don't know enough about him.

maybe i should make a pic of a fish head on the thing and have it fight you, fish bash. that would be funny.

On the subject of fantastic four, look what I made!!!

I really think that this is one of my most realistic images yet. Maybe it's because I put lightsabers in real people's hands as oppsoed to nintendo characters' hands.

Anyway, please notice all the effort i put into the lighting on the invisible woman's legs, and also notice the reflections of the purple and yellow lightsabers on the floor. their feet were already reflected on the floor, so i decided to add reflections of the sabers to make it all seem real.

Fish-Thing against FisHulk? Oh yeah! Just one thing Mario, shouldn't I have a lightsaber as well? But I digress... yoda.gif

I like the FF pic you made, but you didn't address what I noticed -- did you add Mario's face in the 4 below the Human Torch's foot?

i did, in my journal comments. but i should've said it directly to you. no i did not add the mario face next to the torch's foot. i had to look around for a minute before i found it. it really does look like mario's head, doesn't it? that's so cool!
