Title: General Trivia
Description: Official Trivia Thread

General Trivia

Rules:

The way this works is simple. I ask a question that can be about anything and everything. I'll try to keep the subject matter varied to give everyone a chance, and since there are people from all over here I'll also try to keep culturally biased questions from being asked.

First person to post the correct answer gets one point.

Whoever wins is ineligible to answer the next question. This is so that everyone gets a chance.

I will post them at random times - once, twice, three times, maybe none a day. Basically whenever they strike my fancy.

I'm not sure when the trivia will end - I'll determine that at a later date.

If you have suggestions for questions then you are welcome to PM them to me, but you will be ineligible to answer the question once it comes up.

Otherwise, HAVE FUN!

First Question:

This isn't hard, unless you don't have Google, but...

Name the state bird and state flower of my home state of Oklahoma.

(of course, I know without looking :D )

Question: I picked that element because it's number is 42. What book, currently being turned into a feature film, does that number play an important role?
Note: This is something of a trick question.

JayCee - April 10, 2005 12:31 PM (GMT)
Nope.

Remember, it's something of a trick question.

JayCee - April 11, 2005 10:54 AM (GMT)
Okay, fine, BMK, you can answer it since no one else seems to know it.

BMK - April 11, 2005 03:07 PM (GMT)
If I recall correctly the answer to everything is:

42

JayCee - April 11, 2005 03:15 PM (GMT)
*sighs*

No, that's not it either.

I'll move on to something else.

Answer: Life, The Universe, and Everything

See, it's a trick question because it's part of the HHGTTG Series, but not really important until that particular book when they land on pre-historical Earth.

Okay, maybe I'm being too philosphical on that one.

Next Question: Explain the word "porting" when refering to video games.

BMK - April 20, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
Being able to convert a console game so that it runs on a PC/other console and vice versa. Involves a lot of technical gibberish I don't understand nor care to, but that's the gist of it.

Next Question: Explain the word "porting" when refering to video games.

Dang, after you said male I was gonna change to Jonas.

For future reference are we allowed to make a second guess after a hint has been given?

JayCee - April 21, 2005 09:52 AM (GMT)
I will allow you to change your guess after I give a hint - simply because it gives others a chance that you didn't and you did try to guess without a hint.

Otherwise, you can't just randomly change your answer, even after I say "No, that's not it.". (I might have let someone earlier but I'm changing that now and making it a rule).

Katana - April 21, 2005 09:54 AM (GMT)
Alright, thanks for clarifying.
