Title: Programming For A Graphing Calc
Description: cool, or stupid

soten355 - January 23, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
Well, like most highschooler's these days, everybody uses a graphing calculator because it's just useful. But, those graphing calculators have capabilities of playing games(made in BASIC). So, does anybody program in BASIC(I do).

Daniel - January 23, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
So soten, wat u r saying is on graphing calculators you can play games if you know how to write BASIC? Also, Is a graphing calculator the same as a "Scientific calculator"?

- Cheers, Daniel

that's mine, and i think it would be interesting to learn how to make games on it :D
i wouldn't say no to an old-school gauntlet-like game on it :D

wow, you americans have so cool techonology....:'(
There's just one guy at schools who owns one, but really old, plus it was expensive. I've never seen a graph calc here.

Kaz - January 23, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
They're about $100 here. Our school provides them for us but some people have their own.

gml_josea - January 23, 2006 10:45 PM (GMT)
wow, school provide these for u? school here doesn't provide us even a pencil. Even when is the bet school of our city ¬_¬

Kaz - January 23, 2006 10:51 PM (GMT)
Well they dont give them to us. We can just use them in class though.

gamehawk - January 23, 2006 11:08 PM (GMT)
Graphic calcs are awesome, I think C works on them? BASIC is on most now.

gml_josea - January 23, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
Well I think it would eb cool to play a game while a boring physics class

gamehawk - January 23, 2006 11:55 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it is. Well at least in math, not that I've ever erm done that.

i'm canadian ... not american (even if america is the continent, american is most of the time the USA :P)

gml_josea - January 24, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
I hate when people that say "Americans" only talk about Usa people, heck, all us are americans. I don't know why USa stole our colective identity.
BTW, hmmm....maths? they don't let us use calcs in math, only in physics. In math you'll need to use ur own brain or a paper and a pencil

gamehawk - January 24, 2006 02:03 AM (GMT)
Well we get calculators!!!!!

Physics.....boring? YOURE CRAZY!

Yea we have to use a calculator. You cant even do some things without them. Like find how many seconds are in an angle.

Neken - January 24, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
whoa ... i don't think physics are boring ... it's so usefull in games :D

soten355 - January 24, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
heh heh, I play with mine during spanish class. I pay attention a alot in algebra 2(maybe because it's the foundations of 3d programming).

Daniel - January 24, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... Physics can be boring sometimes. When its the last period of the Day.
Also, someone start a poll about whether "They're allowed to use calculators in school" or "Phyics, Boring or not".

- Cheers, Daniel

so, you know a bit of spanish, hmmm

gamehawk - January 24, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
More like he thinks it's boring and doesn't want to learn it, I however do? Any good tutorials?

gml_josea - January 24, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
want to learn waht? program for graph clacs or spanish?

gamehawk - January 24, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
Spanish.

Stenny - February 4, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
Here in Holland ( ) we get them from school. I.E. The school orders them for us, and we get some % off, because they order it in massive numbers. Also, we can use them in math class, not that I do, cuz I'm sill 3/6 years, and people get the in their fourth...

I Want one!!! :(

netman - February 4, 2006 10:47 AM (GMT)
you are in HAVO right? (yes I'm from the NL to).
well I'm at vmbo theoritical wich don't need those.
so is it true you can compile basic code to this machine code?
that would be cool tho.

Stenny - May 7, 2006 10:01 AM (GMT)
Now, I do gymnasium (that's no a p.e. thingie, english guys).

Does anybody have any BASIC tutorials then, cuz I'd like to play me games in math class then!

TheMG - May 7, 2006 11:27 AM (GMT)
Well if its anything like QBASIC programming (which most BASICs are), go get yourself a copy of QBASIC and look up things like the line command, circle, print, clsc, screen, input and inkey, theyre basicly the only commands you need (for simple stuff).

Stenny - May 7, 2006 11:48 AM (GMT)
So it's quite the same as Qbasic then?
Hmm, I know a little bit Qbasic :)

Thanks for ya help

TheMG - May 12, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
Well if you program in one BASIC, its safe to say you program in all. They are the same, give or take a few functions, and cool extras (think VB, FB, B4GL).

It's safe to say you can program in high-level (easier) programming languages.

Stenny - May 15, 2006 04:31 PM (GMT)
ok

BGamed - May 21, 2006 03:43 PM (GMT)
are stenny and netman from holland?

me too, I'd wonder how many more <_<

oh yeah, I'd heard this before, I've got a graphical calculator too, but I'm still just in the 2/6 clas, So im actually only using it to draw something funny, like our teacher or my friends with a shotgun shooting my head of...

can anyone give me a link for a simple tutorial?

Will look pretty cool to me, when I'm able to play mario on it
(has been done before)
