Title: A Live Chatroom
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
Wel, we have a shoutbox and blah, is cool and all that but for example, there's like 6 members online, if we had a chatroom we would chat and talk instead of posting and waiting in the shoutbox of posting a whole topic about things like a live chatroom should eb added.
And instead the shotubox would be sued when people is not conencted and you want to say something
Chat LinkI suggest you bookmark it!
We're working on a better site
gamehawk - January 13, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
You can register one somewhere.
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
well, we can register somewhere a free chatrrom and then make a link in the forum (instead of embedding it on the forum like the shoutbox)
perhaps I make a freewebs accoun ts and use the chatrrom
gamehawk - January 13, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, another embedded thing would slow this page down way too much. I think you can also get JUST a chatroom at bravenet. Haven't tried them myself though.
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
I got a chatrrom working in my old freewebs account:
Chatroom

gml_josea - January 13, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
I used to have like 5 freewebs accounts. then I learned it sucked and I left web making for a while. I still remember the passwrod so I sat-up quickly a builtin chat
gamehawk - January 13, 2006 09:57 PM (GMT)
People go in the chat mean and GML_josea are there now.
Kaz - January 13, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Nothing shows up but a gray box...
gamehawk - January 13, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
Do you have java enabled?
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
there's sevaral causes for this:
-if you use mozilla enable javascript, and download the java plugin
-if you have IE download the hava plugin
Kaz - January 13, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Does javascript count as java? Because I use javascript on my site and it works fine.
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
well, sometimes applets are called from javscript, sometiems are called from HTML, hmmm, yes, you cna even have javascript disabled and the thing should work if you download the plugin
got to the plugins page of mozilla
Kaz - January 13, 2006 10:43 PM (GMT)
But I dont have mozilla, will it still work?
Alpha Man - January 13, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
I use IE, and it works... Firefox sucks...
gml_josea - January 13, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
ok, search in the java site for the plugin and that's all :)

Update:
Well, Soten doesn't like freewebs, so, he wants a better host. I hear suggestions :D. A host that has that option built-in would be betetr, or you'll need to wait for me learn Java :P
Also you'll notice these days some changes on the look of the Chatroom, I'm designing a layout for it, to make the chatroom more "Interesting", and to practice my Javascript knowledge :P
Meaning you'll be able to see contents like recent games and info while chatting. This can even transform into the official C++ GD forum website.
But let's give time to the time, I hear any suggestions and help about the site.
gamehawk - January 14, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
t35 (Soten's host) is worse than freewebs in my opinion. I guess we could use bravenet.
Kaz - January 14, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
Angelfire maybe? Though it seems alot of people dont like it.
soten355 - January 14, 2006 04:23 AM (GMT)
nah, none of those really bad free hosts(tripod, freewebs, angelfire). Maybe geocities, it's pretty good on it's ad's(you can delete 'em). or, if somebody has one, we could host it on an x10hosting account(but we all know how hard it is to get one).
Kaz - January 14, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
I hate geocities...
What other hosts are there?
And whats so bad about angelfire?
gml_josea - January 14, 2006 12:16 PM (GMT)
but hey, the chatroom is builtin freewebs, if we choose another host guess, it will dissapear. We need to make our own chat system and then search for a host. x10hosting is good, also domaidlx and 0catch.com but I don't want to seek another host before having a fully working chat.
I don't know, agelfire is a good host and that but sometimes it gets some really hardcore downtimes
Well, I have a good idea. If you people can find a good host and a new java chatroom okay, but I'll be working on a chat client. the only thing we would need is a 24/7 server, or perhaps a 20/7 server
gamehawk - January 14, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
Let's just keep the current one.
gml_josea - January 14, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)
yes, is still there, why the heck people don't go there? if you forget about it bookmark it
Kaz - January 14, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
Once I have time Ill download the plug in, Im downloading a few things now.
BTW my site never goes down and its hosted by angelfire.
gamehawk - January 14, 2006 07:47 PM (GMT)
1. You aren't checking it 24/7 are you?
2. What's your site?
MadDawgX - January 14, 2006 08:10 PM (GMT)
I've got proffesional hosting. I'll set up a chat as soon as I can.
gml_josea - January 14, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
MadDawgX - January 14, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)

gml_josea - January 16, 2006 12:09 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, Soten made a typo in the chatroom's link, he put "Livee" instead of "Live"
MasterFunk - January 16, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
um..everybody knows that the presedent of the world changed it!
gamehawk - January 16, 2006 02:12 PM (GMT)
I moved this to Announcements instead of creating another new chatroom topic.
Cheers,
gamehawk
gamehawk - January 16, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
