Title: Standard of Umpiring
Iamthetiger - April 28, 2008 11:48 PM (GMT)
I attend approx 80games a season. Game by game week by week its the same crap all the time. I for one am sick to death of the way the umpires go about it. To begin with i am not biased on Richmond i call free kicks how i see them. After watching the laws of the game video and sitting down and watching 5 games last week the things from the video go missing come game day. Many times in every game theres free kicks that just get over looked. Now there's talks of maybe just maybe a 4th field up wtf we have enough of the clowns out there getting it wrong as it is. There is only 1 way i can think of to make the standard of umpiring better. If they want to bring in another clown have him in the stands and not on the field. Wire him up with the other umpires and he can pay free kicks from the TV then he talks to the other idiots and tells em they missed something no delay in this either. Face it they miss so much that us the public see on the TV. Its the only thing to do. It really gets to me i can not help but stand up and point the finger at the umpires and scream out abuse. What do people think of how we can make things better.

Umpiring hasn't been to flash in a few matches.
At 3qtr time carlton adelaide game we had 16 frees to adelaides 6.
in the final, game deciding quarter, adelaide amassed 14 to 2 frees.
Looking at that stat pretty much says the umpires realised the count and decided to even it up...
At least two of those final quarter goals were inside 50 resulting in goals.
Im not saying umpires won it for them, adelaide were better, but they were terrible in that last qtr and smashed carltons efforts esp after the double goal.
Heard umpires were shocking richmond vs hawks too

Yeah we were that was a play there in the last term we tackle and again and again and again nothing gets paid. Not Just our game they are getting worse by the game. Seriously how can we teach people our great game when the idiots in charge have no idea themselves. I am sick of going to games seeing them make the errors they do.

The umpires have far to much say in the game today, the whistle is blown far to many times. They must think that if their are only lets say 10 frees for the whole game that they havent done their job.
Rules like Hands in the Back were implemented because the umpires couldn't use common sense.
Umpires have been shocking the games i have been to, they were horrible at the North v Swans game for both teams, i dont mea to whinge but they can change the outcome of the game by the way they umpire, couple of free kicks in the foward 50 of the other team and momentum can go to the other team.
I just think that the Umpires should be treated simiarly to players, they have a bad performance they get dropped, The umpires get treated far to easily, if we dont let them know they are doing something wrong they wont change the way they officiate.
The sooner The Hands in the back rule is removed the better the game will be.

It's the idiots like Chamberlain who ruin the game. No feel for the game, he umpires exactly by the book. Though that might sound like the way you should umpire, the thing is that doing so will completely ruin the flow of the game, confuse players and in the end no-one is happy.

Yes thats right Geng Bang.
And giving a free against Waite.... while it was "correct," the rule is actually useless in this day & age, as we have 10 balls either end of the ground, whereas when it was made there was one ball.

The Umpiring sucks.
The rules are changed too much. Interatations are unknown. Plenty of confusion. No consistency. A lot of biasness favouring one side.
Jeff Geishen is a joke.
hands in the back rule is soft and a joke.
Push in the back rule is a joke in 2008. Player who is tackled drop to there knees and rewarded free kick for push in the back. Tackler needs to learn to fall to the side, terrible.

Today umpiring was a Joke in the WB vs North game ... a joke i say ... corey jones got his headed pushed into the ground and the guy made head contact and it was holding the ball another one Mcintosh got a handball umpire ran him down the ball went to johnno and then to aker and then a goal no recall. Another one wight for the dogs and petrie for the roos took marks and not paided ... hate to be an umpire
