Right, well we already have a members hideaway for members of a certain point, but I know some people are nervous of posting and so find it hard to get to that 50 post mark.

I was thinking, and I wondered what people thought of a little forum that is viewable to fairly recent members? They would need a certain number of posts, fairly small number, but then they could post without worrying about guests reading.

The only other way is to make the forum unviewable for guests, apart from the Guest part and the Important Notices part.

What do you guys think?

well i like the idea of keeping it all closed to guests... they shouldnt be allowed to see the posts...it would encourage them to join! :D

I know a lot of people here are paranoid, it tends to go with the depression. The only thing I'm worried about is it alienating the guests.

well what you could do is block all the forums except of the general chatter and forums like that... because they aren't really confidential as such... that could give a bit of a taster to the guest... but then again the board is meant to be about self harm and things like that so by blocking that the guests might think that there is no such forum... ok, we're not getting anywhere! or we could do that but then have it written somewhere like the top that not all the forums are viewable and that in order to see them you need to be a member?! i don't know... just suggesting random things!

i really dont know which one to choose. its hard, cos like you said we dont want guests to feel alienated, but then again, the members already on here are likely to feel worried about posing knowing anyone could look. I think maybe the best option is to have the forum for members to post topics in but only if they put trigger warnings. Also only topics which members do not feel safe in putting in the open part of the forum. But then it could get abit out of hand, where most of the topics are put in the new forum.

Guess what guys, I changed my mind again, you can now view all (I think) of the forums as a guest, but can't post in them, as it used to be. We now have a private forum for serious stuff, you need a small number of posts to view, I wont state how many, as its not a good idea.

Erm yeah, that's about it :)
