Title: Immune system seems to have weakened lately

Merf. >.< It seems like ever since I got depressed, I've been getting physically sick easier too. I used to NEVER get sick, and when I did it got better pretty fast. But now my allergies and asthma seem to have worsened, and both of them, as well as my eczema, seem to be almost year-round now, when I used to get the latter two in winter and the allergies in spring. I currently have both an inner and middle ear infection as well, and I haven't been able to work on my singing because of chronic sinus congestion and sometimes coughing when I try to hold a note. It's pretty damn depressing. Oh yeah, and speaking of allergies, we've discovered I have an allergy to some ingredient in this new soap Mum bought... wtf? And my slight cat allergy has been worsening too. :crying: I need my kitties. So yeah... is this normal? Or am I some kind of freak?

Depression can cause your immune system to weaken, yes.
I find that if I'm really depressed and down on myself, I tend to get sick more often.
It takes me ages to get better from anything too. I still have some symptoms of my cold from way back in January. It's not contagious, it's just... well.. there?
But yeah, depression has a factor in the way your immune system works.

Damnit. Is there anything I can do about it?
Now while it's nice to have a legitimate excuse not to do anything (besides being paralysed by depression, of course) once in a while, I'm growing extremely tired of being stuffed full of antibiotics and having to use nasal spray and cough drops just so I can speak (not that it always works anyway, though).
And the worst part is, my body fights off medicine better than it does sickness. I'm always on huge doses of strong antibiotics and still take forever to recover. *sighs*

Um. I'm not sure there is anything you can do. :(
Other than take vitamins and the like, I don't know what else to tell you.
See, depression is stress on your body, and stress does a number on your body. A lot more than you expect it does. It affects a huge part, if not all of your body.
Don't take medicines for everything. That way your body won't become so resistant to it.

Mm, tell that to my mother. I personally try to avoid medicine unless absolutely necessary, but she makes me take it for everything. Grr.
