!LAYERS OF SOCIETY!

there are four layers of society, sort of like
the social system. the first level is called
the ancients. these vampires are at least
one-thousand years old. they are very rare
but very strong. they are famous for their
age, but no one ever sees them because
they are so rare. all vampires must follow
any instructions they give without question.
they also have the power to destroy a
vampire if they do not follow instructions.

the second layer or level is the elders. they
are normally anything between five-hundred
to nine-hundred years old. but recently in
vampire times anyone three-hundred fifty
or older has been considered elders (unless
they are ancients) because of the massacre.
to learn about the massacre, see next post.
they are more common then ancients. elders
from one coven do not have to follow those
from another, but they have the authority to
rule younger elders from their own coven
and any other vampires. they sometimes
lead covens, but mostly are advisers or just
plain coven members. most vampires are
supposed to follow everything they say, but
a lot of the harsher vampires don't follow
that rule.

the third layer is regular vampires. they are
anything younger than three-hundred in
current times. there are a lot of these vampires,
and these make up most of the coven members
and the rogue vampires. for more information on
rogue vampires, see post five.

the last layer is fledglings. these are brand new
vampires, usually very strong. regular vampires
usual teach these vampires about the society
and how to hunt and everthing they need to know,
but they have more power because they are new.
there should be a lot of fledglings, but not all make
it through. some of them die because they don't
want to kill humans, still think of themselves as
humans, don't follow the rules, or just can't survive
the change.

!THE MASSACRE!

in eighteen ninety-seven, there was a
horrible war between the elders, ancients,
and horrible rogues. the ancients lived, but
moved out to hiding. as for the elders, a
lot of them were killed. after the fighting had
finally ended and the rogues were destroyed,
the remaining elders decided to make anyone
thats three-hundred fifty or older elders until
the same elders as before had been restored.
they are still counting up the elders, but soon
they will stop. they can't allow everyone to be
elders. all vampires follow elders and ancients
in fear they will be murdered like the rogues.
balance has to be kept somehow.

!OTHER VAMPIRE HISTORY!

vampire killings have been happening for
a long time. think of most of the vampire
myths about van helsing to be true. they
were made up to reassure scared villagers,
but there were a lot of killings of vampires.
the salem witch trials did include a lot of
murdering of actual fledglins who were just
using their powers too much on villagers.
some vampires joined in wars so they could
drink the blood of their dead enemies without
getting caught, but a lot of those were killed
too. to kill a vampire doesn't take a lot, but it
is harder then killing an actual human.

!COVENS/ROGUES!

there are covens and rogue vampires. the
coven vampires are in covens, obviously,
and the one they are in is based on their
personality. vampires are allowed to switch
covens, but the leaders might not like it.
not all leaders are elders and the leader
doesn't have to listen to the elders in their
coven unless they want to. they only have
to listen to ancients.

as for rogues, most were killed in the massacre.
sure there are still some around, but they are
frowned upon and murdered whenever possible.
the ancients dont want to risk what happened
before, so the rogues are extra careful to stay
hidden or join a coven before they are attacked.
