The demon slayer's village.
Once the home of the most powerful demon slayers in Japan. While most of their slayers were off on a mission, the village was destroyed. All that remains is rubble and graves. Sango, one of the last remaining demon slayers, sometimes travels back to her village to give her blessings to those who have passed on, as well as clean up and try to repair what she can.

Mountains.
The northern mountains of japan. Towering hills of stone and rocks, snow covers most of the mountains. A clan of white wolf demons watches the area with a strict paw and hawk's eye. They reign supreme, yet are quite gentle for 'blood thirsty' wolves. Villagers in the mountains are careful and sly, don't leave anything lying around or they will take it.

Mt. Hakurei
The remains of the once holy land. Mountain tops not covered in snow, but in soot, blood, and too soft soil. Once a monk was burried into the sacred ground to watch over the mountain and protect it. However, Naraku put a seed of doubt and hate into the monk's mind. The monk turned cold and hateful towards everyone who was living, which later caused the mountain to fall and turn into rubble.

Forests and small villages.
Small villages that dot the northern boundaries and the forests that shield them from one another. This area is dangerous because of all the demon raids that take place in summer and fall.

Hagoku [Before it became Edo]

Hagoku is known as the main trading city in Japan, where merchants come every year to sell their goods and people come from far and wide to buy from them. There are various areas of Hagoku, such as the tea ceremony gardens, the living areas. Vast gardens litter Hagoku, as well as small bars/pubs and shops. It's not rare to see foreigners and demons walking the streets where humans usually wander about. Hagoku has strict laws that are followed, or you`re killed/banned from the city. Urchins and thieves are well known for stealing from shop owners and breaking in warehouses/stands at night. Raids rarely happen on the city, but when they do, they're big and they're bad.

Hikoro Hot Springs

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful hot springs in the middle of the woods. It was said if you bathed in the water every day for five long years, you would look older, and your sickness would be cured. Though this legend was never proved, a group of travelers created walls around the springs, and built a small shrine in front of it, making any and all who wanted to use the 'sacred' springs pay money for it. The 'shrine' also had beds, and food, as well as entertainment for the guests, and became a sort of Inn, where the sold beautiful clothing, gaining a good deal of money from the fools who wanted to bathe in the sacred spring - which they had blessed every year by a nearby priest. Though the springs is only said to be holy, it's more relaxing than other springs you'd find in the forest

The forest of Inu Yasha.
Once upon a time, when Kikyo still watched over the Shikon Jewel, a half demon betrayed her and stole the jewel. She pinned the half demon Inu Yasha to the Goshinboku (god tree), thus giving the surrounding forest it's name.

Inside this forest lies a well with powers that can transport Kagome Higarashi between the modern era and the past.

The cave of Onigumo.
The cave were an evil man named Onigumo traded his body and soul for the body of a demon, allowing demons to feast upon his flesh and change him into one of them. It was said that he did this so that he could be with the priestess Kikyo, yet that is still a mystery. It is said that the cave has evil emanating from it, and is very dangerous even on it's own.

Kouga's territory.
Inside a cave hidden by a flowing waterfall lies the eastern wolf pack and their leader, Kouga. He reigns over the eastern lands, even when he's out searching for revenge for his fallen comrades. Kouga's pack is small, as most of his kin were killed by Naraku.

Sesshomaru's territory.
Though the dog demon holds control over most of the western lands, he is seen in this area the most, patrolling the boarders around his castle and main settlements. When not moving around Japan, Sesshomaru can generally be found here.

The entrance to hell.
Where the ground splits open and red, orange, and purple lights shine from the hole in the ground. Should you leap down into it's depths, you`ll be transported into the center of Hell itself. Whether you live or die depends entirely upon whether or not you can talk and fight your way out of confrontation - or if you can get on the good sides of the lords and ladies.

Ocean shores.
Small villages line the ocean, ships go out to catch fish and bring them back. Despite living on the shores of the ocean, the villagers here have some control over the water and can protect their villages from rising and lowering tides, as well as tsunamis that hit in the spring.

Various hot springs that dot the western lands. Demons have a tendency to wander from their villages and bathe here. The springs in the western lands grow near herbs and seem to attract wild animals more than normal. Snakes, insects, and wolves like to hang around.

The oceans.
Oceans with villages dotting the banks and the surrounding forests. Surprisingly, the fish are rare in these parts - just enough to live on. Fruit, however, grows fast and plentiful here. As well as spices and farming, that is - if you go about four miles from the oceans. The oceans themselves are wildcats, almost always storming in the night and rough in the day. Despite this, villages seem to make it out just fine.

Totosai's Lair.
The hermit weapon smith Totosai resides in the mountains in the Southern Lands. Many come to ask him for training, or for him to make them a weapon. It's very rare to even see Totosai, and even more rare if you can get the chance to ask him to forge you a weapon. His weapons are strong, powerful, and beautiful. Totosai wont make anyone a weapon, however, if he's in a good mood - you might be able to bribe him.

War grounds & Bone fields.
The bone fields of the south are large and plentiful. Once upon a time, people would battle it out here. Their corpses fell to the ground and they rotted there and then. When the rains came was when they were buried, so now many skeletons are buried under the ground, as well as on top. The bone fields are also seen as a sort of breeding ground for the darker of demons. The humans and demons that reside in the shrines and refugee cames have generally returned from the war grounds after a long hard battle between races, tribes, or just for the sake of something not to large, not too small, but big enough to cause a commotion. These areas are dotted with swords smiths, armor makers, and the more darker spirited beings.

Sakura Village

Aptly named by the villagers who live there, as well as the travelers that happen a crossed it, Sakura village is a beautiful spot in Japan. Every year, at the time the cherry trees bloom, the sakura petals bloom in thousands here, coating the ground and water in beautiful pink leaves. Despite the cold winds that come in the winter, some of the trees still carry the pink buds from the spring and summer, seemingly unaffected by the cold weather, which makes the pink standing out against the white a beautiful a wonderful sight. Sakura village is not only known for the cherry trees, but for their salts and fattened, good quality animals.

Sunset shrine.
The home of Kagome Higarashi. Despite the many years that have passed, the ancient well and sacred Goshinboku still stand tall, protected by the generations of Higurashi's that have protected the shrine and the grounds, as well as warded off any demons that may come around. This shrine is large and hard to take care of. To get to it from the streets of tokyo, you have to climb up almost three hundred stairs.

Mt. Fuji.
The great, beautiful mountain located in Japan. This is where the demons from the past first began showing up and are continuing to do so. Demons have a base at the top of the mountain, out of sight of the mountain climbers and any tourists who happen to make it up farther than a third of the way. The demons are planning their big attack here, so close to their prey.

The enterance to heaven.
In the large Koikasu hospital's basement lies boxes of information, surgical tools, fire hydrants, emergency equipment in case of an explosion or bombing, something. This hospital is the most prominent and kindest in Japan. It's loved, hated, and all the hospitals must be jealous. It's also extremely magical and mysterious, but who ever thought that it would hold the very entrance to heaven in it's very basement? From time to time, to certain people, a door will appear. Said door will take you straight into the pearly gates of heaven.
