Kikaru Karigayuri was born five seconds before his twin brother, Hikoriki Karigayuri. The bond between the two was very strong and one that could not be easily broken. The two almost never fought with eachother and the both were easily eachother's best friend. They looked identical in every way except one. Kikaru's hair was red and he had blue eyes while Hikoriki's hair was blue and he had red eyes. But even then, they wore their hair the same way.

Kikaru was never one with high amounts of spirit energy, but Hikoriki was. Hikoriki claimed that he could see ghosts, and the only one who believed him was Kikaru. Kikaru longed to have this ability. He wanted so much to be like his twin. Well, because the two were almost inseperable, Hikoriki's reiatsu managed to find its way inside Kikaru, tapping into his own reserves of spirit energy, making him able to see the ghosts as well. Though, they were both still young so no one ever believed that they could actually see spirits. "It is just an overactive imagination." Their father would always say.

Unfortunately, two boys with an abnormal amount of reiatsu is a very big attraction for hollows. People around them started to die, and all sorts of what seemed to be misfortunes surrounded the two boys. But, the two boys saw them for what they really were. They could see these monsters, but they did not know what they are, for no story they ever read showed monsters like those. The boys constantly told their parents when they saw one of these beasts, but they never believed them until one day.

While there was a family reunion, the boys had not seen these beasts for three weeks straight. They too had started to think they had imagined it all. Then, disaster struck. The boys both heard a heart chilling yell and immediately ran out side to see there were two hollows. The boys both yelled in terror as they pointed to the beings no one else could see. "Well well, come on boys, we aren't getting overactive imaginations again are we?" the father asked jokingly. Then, Uncle Garouga, Kikaru's father's brother said, "Now come on bro, for all you know they could be telling the truth!" Everyone around burst out laughing while the two boys sat down crying, for they were both only 12. One of the hollows then viciously killed Uncle Garouga, devouring him before he even knew what hit him.

At once, everyone went into utter chaos as the sight of carnage before them had unfolded. As they ran around, the two boys stood rooted to their spot in the ground as they watched another two family members become devoured. The hollows finally cought sight of the two boys and started walking toward them. Kikaru jumped up and ran, not noticing his brother wasn't following. When he did, the hollows were ten feet away from him, getting closer. "Hikoriki, come on! Run!!! RUN!!!!!!" Kikaru yelled frantically. For reasons that Kikaru could never explain, Hikoriki turned his head to Kikaru, and kindly smiled at Kikaru, as if nothing were happening. Then, one of the hollows devoured his brother, ending the life that was so connected with Kikaru's own.

Kikaru no longer had the strength to move, nor the courage. He just looked on as the other hollow got closer, laughing as it did so. It then violently smashed Kikaru on the side of his face, maiking him see nothing but blurs for a few moments. As he came to, he realized that he felt different, and to his horror was able to see his bloodied up body on the ground. He then looked to his chest and saw the chain there. His attention was brought back up to the hollow quickly when it crushed his old body and went for Kikaru. "I don't wannna die! I don't wanna die!" Kikaru was able to squelch out from his voice as he looked at the horror cominlg closer. All of a sudden, a figure appeared before Kikaru, wearing a black robe and wielding a sword. "Who said you were going to die kid? By the looks of it, you are already dead!" Kikaru stared in awe at the man that addressed him so casually as the two hollows started to make their advancements. "Dont worry kid, I wont let them hurt you." He then quickly destroyed both hollows in a matter of minutes as Kikaru watched in complete shock. When the man was finished, he looked down at Kikaru and walked slowly toward him. "It's time for you to go little man!" He then placed the bottom of his sword's handle to Kikaru's head and Kikaru was surrounded by a bright light as he seemed to sink into the ground...

10 years later...

Kikaru is now a shinigami, training to make sure what happened to him will not happen to anyone else. One day, he was given a mission to earth. It was a simple and routine mission to scan for any souls needing soul burials and to send them onto Soul Society. As he arrived in Earth, memories cam flooding back as he looked around. *We are around where I grew up...* he thought to himself. He decided he would travel in the direction of his old house, just deciding to take a quick gander at it and see what was going on around the area.

On the way, he spotted a soul, a little girl that was sitting, hugging her knees. He walked over quietly and said "Hiya! My name is Kikaru. Are you ok?" The girl then looked up, puzzled as ever. "You...you can see me?" she asked. "Of course I can, now, its time for you to go to heaven!" As he brought up his sword, the girl said, "Please, you have to help my sister! We were being attacked by something, I ran, but she didn't follow, please!" She then jumped up and grabbed Kikaru's hand as she ran toward the seen. As they turned a corner, Kikaru saw it. there was another girl, who looked almost identical to the girl by his side, who was hiding under monkey bar gym to try and get away from the hollow trying to devour her. "Is...is that your twin sister?" Kikaru asked quickly. The girl replied even quicker, "Yes, now please, help her!"

Kikaru then ran forward quickly, drawwing his sword as he got closer to the hollow. When he was ten feet away, he jumped to the hollow and brought his sword hard into the hollow's arm, severing it completely. As they hollow turned toward him, Kikaru felt a chill go down his spine as he couldnt help feel a connection the the beast. Then, he heard a voice, seemingly coming from the hollow as it held onto its wounded arm. "Heh heh heh, so you have come back...its been a long time..." As Kikaru looked at the creature with fear in his eyes, he couldnt help but blurt out "What do you mean? Who are you!?" The hollow then chuckled as it seemed to peer into Kikaru's soul, and suddenly, Kikaru knew who it was before he said anything. "Im sad Kikaru! You don't remember your own brother!!!" Kikaru's body then became limp as he looked at the creature that was starting to slowly make its way toward him. After a few moments of calming him self down, he slowly brought up his sword, getting ready to fight once more. "I will free you from this hell Hikoriki, I promise..."

The hollow then ran at Kikaru full speed. As Kikaru tryed to cut through its head, the hollow dodged and smashed Kikaru in the ribs, knocking him back a couple yards. As he stumbled to his feet, he was then immediately side swipped across the face by the hollows unharmed arm. Kikaru got up quickly, determined to save his brother from the madness that was driving him. But Kikaru started to realize that Hikoriki was stronger than him. He had started to lose hope as his once brother ran toward Kikaru, aiming to devour him as he had probably done many times before with others. But by some miraculous chance, a part of Hikoriki faltered, and the hollow hesitated for a moments. Kikaru then took the chance and rammed his blade into the skull of the hollow, breathing hard as he did so. He then looked to the face of the hollow as the mask went away from his face, and looked once again into his brother's face. He then saw his brother mouth two words before he seemed to dematerialize. Whe he vanished, Kikaru let the sword drop to the ground as a tear rolled down his cheek. He then said aloud, forgetting the two girls were there, "Your welcome Hikoriki..." But, unbeknownst to Kikaru, a fragment of Hikoriki was imprinted onto Kikaru's own soul as he dealt the killing blow. Unforunately, it wasnt his brother's sane side. After he sent the two girls to Soul Society, he quckly retired back to Soul Society himself to get him self treated.

1 year after this incident...

Kikaru was training with the hollows that were kept at the academy. He thought he might be able to take on a robo hollow at least with his present skill. Unfortunately, he was very wrong. As he made himself seen, a robo hollow came up and started to thrash on Kikaru. Kikaru was able to land a few blows, but not many that matched that of the hollow. As the fight progressed, he was finally dealt a knockout blow from the hollow.

When he came to, he was outside the training room, a man beside him looking down on him. "You know, thats the second time I have had to save your ass." It was the man from when Kikaru was 12. "Thank you...for both times..." Kikaru said quickly, clearly embarressed that the man had gone this far for him. "Anytime...I am amazed, when you were knocked out, the hollow threw a punch so hard I thought it would go right through you..." Kikaru then looked up at the mans face smiling. "Thank you for stopping him then, or I might be dead right now." The man looked quizzically at Kikaru and said "I didn't stop him. Before I could get to you, the punch landed, but it seemed like it didnt even cause you any discomfort, you just got knocked back some is all. After that I killed it." Kikaru then looked down for a second and pondered what happened. "Well, thank you again for ever-" but as he looked up to see the man, the man was gone. Kikaru then felt his body for any major injuries and happened to chance upon an object in his robes. As he reached in and pulled it out, he saw what appeared to be a small hollow mask that was cracked down the middle. As he held it up to his face, the mask split in two and disintegrated in his hands. He then left on his own, pondering what had just occured...

Current time...

Now Kikaru is starting to have battles withing himself. It feels as is something inside him is constantly trying to take control. Kikaru has taken to meditating to strengthen the bonds of his own mind, and at this moments, it is a standstill. But Kikaru can feel this entity inside him growing stronger and he doesnt know what it is. Finally, one day while he was communicating with his zanpakuto spirit, he saw him. It was a man with pale white skin and eyes that were red. His hair was in the same style as Kikaru's but was blue instead. It looked like a pale version of Hikoriki. "Who are you?" Kikaru managed to spit out in his bewilderment. "Me? Ha! I'm not important, but soon this will all be mine! Be ready for me! I won't take it easy on you like I did last time!" And with that, the being seemed to vanish. Now the struggle is on and Kikaru is fighting desperately to win.
