Q Why does it say beyond the dusk in the site address?

A. Originally the name for this forum was chosen to be "Beyond the Dusk". When the Lead Admin decided it was time for an overhaul she didn't wish to change the URL inadvertently leaving it to the old name. There may even be some old reference along the board saying "Beyond the Dusk." including our Advert Buttons. Simply ignore it. We respond to both names. =)

Q. Is an O.O.C account needed?

A. Yes. These accounts are to keep so that when you want to lounge around, or write other things in the O.O.C threads you do not need to play in character. Plus people can know you more outside of your character and you can be guaranteed more comfort. So please make sure you make one before you bring in a character. Also, notifications and bulk announcements will be sent to these accounts via PM.

Q. What is a sig and avatar?

A. A signature and avatar are graphics that you use to personalize yourself and your character. For this forum they are required and will show the image of the person you choose to play. The avatar MUST be 135x200 and the signature photo should be 500X200. This is not negotiable.

Q. What is a Relationship page and why is it necessary?

A. Relationship pages are like plot pages to show which characters are intertwined with others and how. For this forum, they are NOT necessary just yet. Eventually they will most likely become a requirement, but for now does not -need- to be done.

Q. I don't know how to use photoshop...

A. No worries. There are plenty of us around here who can. Just seek out the Graphics shop in the forums and we will do our best to help. Just be sure to leave the artists with another pictures to work with along with the name of the model you had in mind. Otherwise they are likely to find other pictures that suit their vision.

Q. Who the heck is Anita Blake?

A. For those who do not read the Anita Blake series, it is a book based on a vampire hunter/necromancer that has a variety of situations within the preternatural world. It is written by Laruell K Hamilton who also writes the Meridith Gentry series. The wold of Anita Blake has a vast mythology that as caught the attention of this forum's creator, hence why she decide to base some of the terms into this role-play. Both Admin have read most of the books are are quite familiar with the Anitaverse. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Q. I know nothing about the Anita Blake series. Can I still join?

A. Sure. In fact for this role-play you don’t need to know more then what is provided on the board. However, if you have some knowledge of the books that would be helpful to. If you really wish to learn more, there are websites provided for you to visit and get a better understanding of such.

Q. Since this is an Anita Blake based role-play, can I use characters from the book?

A. No. This is for various reasons that deal with copyright. In fact, this role play is only based in certain terminology that comes from the series such as the Marks, pomme de sang and etc. There will be no mentioning of the original characters other then that of the Vampire Council.

Q. Are we allowed to play Fey on this board?

A. So far there are a lot of species on this board as is. With Fey comes a whole new outlook on species. For now we will hold off on them. If in fact the Admin and Moderators see fit to want to implement Fey into the role play then everyone will be notified, information will be added, and we will play Fey. However for now, my apologies, but no.

Q. Where does this role-play take place?

A. If you have read the plot this is a post supernatural war in the U.S, particularly in New York State along 2020.

Q. What is the difference between a Vampire and a Val-kin?

A. Val-kin are creatures that came before those that are known as the Undead. They are living breathing beings, unlike vampire who must avert from daylight. More information of this is in the Species Section in the “I have been acquainted with the Night” forum.

Q. Are the AB based Vampires the same as Turned vampires from Val-kin?

A. Val-kin have the ability to create the "Undead", and going by that mythology in this role-play that means all undead are somehow linked back to those that are Val-kin, whether alive or not.Val-kin even pre-date the Council. Therefore, those that are named Turned are basically just "undead" but have about the same properties as what the AB vampires except for certain differences that are given with their line. Another thing that differs them from Val-kin, Turned/Undead cannot reach level of High/Grand Master while Val-kin can.

Q. How do I get to play a Val-kin?

A. Val-kin tend to be rather powerful, so if you wish to play one I suggest you see the Admin Capt. Hazard, after all they are her creation. She can walk you through the process.

Q. Why do admin get the more powerful Val-kin? Can't I be one to?

A. Val-kin are a breed created by the Admin. For other people to understand their potential, Admin play more powerful rolls. However if you are trusted enough to be able to hold such a status then it will be given to you. However, because these beings can be almost teetering into godmodding if not played correctly, then it most be monitored on how many are played and who plays them. In a sense the same also goes for the creation of Demons.

Q. How old should I make my character?

A. It depends on what species you have. A Lycan can’t be in their hundreds unless bound to a vampire or val-kin. Humans are also of normal age unless they are a Valor or Everlaster. Val-kin ages are broken down, but there should not be anyone over millions of years old unless they are playing a Grand Master. If that is the case, then you must refer to an Admin.

Q. Is a Moon Lupine a Lycan?

A. As Val-kin are to the Undead, Moon Lupine are to Werewolves in a sense. They are real cursed wolves from hell, hence called "hell hounds". They have the ability to shift in and out of form at will and unlike a Lycan, live long ageless lives.

Q. May I become a Moon Lupine?

A. Sure! Moon Lupine don't fall so much under the category as Val-kin. Just be sure to notify the local Clan leader as to joining or being a wolf that was already apart of the Clan. Also be sure to read about them in the species section.

Q. These creatures are pretty awesome. Val-kin and Moon Lupine! Can I use them on other forums?

A. While we are flattered the answer is absolutely NOT! These creatures were specifically made by the Admin and are not allowed to go any further then this forum. People have worked hard on their species, and that would be a form of stealing. They have been protected. Now if you wish to make something similar, then by all means. Just make sure you give credit where its due. You would not want someone to steal your things right?

Q. What exactly is Hell’s Bells Inc. and the Brotherhood of Blood?

A. Hell’s Bells Inc. is an organization run by only humans. They are hunters and most are against those that go bump in the night. There are very few exceptions. They do not take heed to the laws, seeing how there are hardly any these days. However, they are called for hire and work as hunters when the time is called for. The Brotherhood of Blood is a large underground organization of pirates that has been around for centuries and also hosts many of that which is supernatural. They are criminals but some of the best of the best run with them.

Q. Can I make a character to join those organizations?

Sure. Just refer to Capt.Hazard, Darkeheart, Overseer, or Jaded.Glory or the forum sections and they will give you a better understanding of where your character would best fit.

Q. May I make my own race?

A. Not at the moment, no. For now we are trying to juggle with what we have and perhaps in the future there will be others.

Q. All the Admin have powerful or old characters. How is that fair?

A. This is mainly because we as Admin pose as leaders to this forum in order for others to follow and gain a better understanding as such. If you are a devoted member and believe you can hold leadership skills then you too can possible hold such a rank. However, Admin have the power to use these positions as they see fit.

Q. How much am I recommended to post?

A. You should be able to post at least once a day or every other day. If you cannot post, then leave a message in the C-Box or within the absences section. Again this is out of the consideration for those that will be waiting for your post. As for wording, please no less then three paragraphs will be expected. One lining is NOT permitted. We’re trying to be interesting and creative here.

Q. I posted and no one has responded to me, this place sucks.

A. Interaction is key. That's why we have a thread request board and a C-Box!. Many of us are busy around the forum and outside of it and may not get the chance to notice a new thread that has opened. Just be sure to put yourself out there or PM someone who you'd like to interact with. Don't be surprised if Admin urge you to deliver your luscious writing skills!!

Q. How many characters can you have at a time?

A. While I much prefer a cap of 3 - 4 you can play as many as you can handle. Just do me the favor of letting an Admin know when you decide to go over your fourth character. Also if you plan to do this, make sure you can juggle your characters. It wouldn't be fair to other players if you couldn't.

Q. What can I expect of this forum?

A. A forum is what you, as members, make it. We Admin can do but so much, but we are more then willing to help you as you go through your journey throughout the world. We are a friendly environment and there will be violence and sexual references. If you cannot stand that, then this is not the board for you.

Q. How does one become affiliates with this board?

A. See the alliances section in the “.hath cheered me a lovely dream” Category for further information about affiliating. Make sure you follow the rules before you decide to affiliate.

Q. What is a Sister Site?

A. These sites have been made by the Admins on other forums. They are not quite linked but are ran by the same people.
