.Moon Lupine
As a true-blood is to the world of vampires, Moon Lupines is the world of Lycanthropes. A Moon Lupine is a slight fusion of a werewolf and a demon. Usually, they are identified as having crimson tinted eyes in human form. These ancient creatures, unlike their Lycan descendents, can shift at will. In the past, they were allies to Val-kin and still are when they see fit that the Val-kin is worth their loyalty. When Moon Lupine mate, they mate for life. The most interesting thing about Moon Lupine is that the female alphas, tend to be both sexes and can mate with either the male or female gender.
Name of Race: Moon Lupine (Hell Hounds or Young of Cerberus)
History of Race: The first of this breed was initially given the name Hell Hound. They had no human form and only walked by choice of two or four legs in the land of Hell. They were kept as pets as well as guardians with the ability to take shadowed as well as flesh forms. However, they were so volatile that they were placed into the land of the living with human bodies and founded by Nicolai. Without guidance they only caused menace and mayhem. So, as a switch of events, Nicolai contacted the only one who would be able to assist him with this species…Valois. It was then that their name was changed to “Moon Lupine” because of the effects that the moon had on their shifting states.
From then on, Nicolai requested that Valois bind these creatures to the aid of Val-kin. This was not only to keep them in-line, but also to prevent further chaos into the living world. These ghost-like hounds were only able to be tamed by more powerful Val-kin however, and if this was not possible then they were normally killed.
Life Span: Moon Lupine can live in two different ways. If completely bound to a Val-kin that Moon Lupine could live for as long as the Val-kin can. Otherwise, these beasts also age very slow and can live into their thousands and beyond. Moon Lupine do not hold a contagion in their blood as do Lycans. You are either born as you are, or you are not.
Social Habits:
Clans: It is highly rare that a Moon Lupine is a lone wolf. They are highly family oriented and live in very large packs. These packs are referred to as Clans. They consist of many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Brothers, Sisters, Mothers, Fathers, In-Laws and etc. It’s normal for a Moon Lupine clan to reach at about 300-500 in members and most likely live with eachother in a large house and hold a large amount of land for their hunting grounds. They are normally affectionate to one another and highly protective.
While they tend to be territorial of other Clans, they normally have come to respect them before they may choose to attack. It is natural that they know every leader in the Moon Lupine race. One should approach a Moon Lupine pack with extreme caution. They have been known to attack without question of one is not easily recognized by scent or appearance
Because these creatures are highly aggressive at all times, it is natural for them to be caught sparring. Often these spars are bloody and can leave scars. They have little regard if one is female or male, both genders must know how to defend themselves at all times. These spars are sporadic. One could be resting in their favorite place, but they will be attacked by another Clan member almost suddenly.
Mating: When these wolves mate, they mate for life. If in any case their mate dies, they will remain mateless until the day that they too also die. There is a difference between mating and “fraternizing”. Mating has to do with making pups in the process, while mates can have many others to “fraternize” with. Just not enough to give birth to young. Alpha Females have organs to bother “father” and “mother” a child with a mate as oppose to Omegas whom are only able to “mother” a child.
The choice of a mate is normally a violent one. If a male cannot pin the female in a blood feud in their furry forms, then there is no way they will be able to mate with that female. They may share other moments, but definitely not for mating. It is because of this that Moon Lupine try NOT mate outside their species. They may have sexual relations with many others, but never to bare a child.
Birth/Pregnancy: Those of this breed tend to be rather fertile on both the male and female end. Hence when having intercourse with others that are not their kind, they actually heed sexual protection. A Moon Lupine is ready for birth after 6 months. They do not give birth in human form, although they show a round stomach. To give birth, they must be in furry form because it is natural for them to have litters from 5-7 pups. Females go into a volatile and defensive mood while they are pregnant. In many cases they are likely to kill clan mates or innocents without question. Once the pups are born, they are born like other animals, blind and deaf. When they reach at least five years, they are able to switch into a human toddler form on their birthdays. This is a dangerous process because they are still very young, and some do not make it through the shift.
Political Standards: A Strong Boss:: In all cases the Zevsti ( also known as Zev ) holds the only word of power. If the Zev says no, then it means no. Because of this slight dictatorship the Zev must always be physically strong and prepared at all time for potential challenger. A weak Zev would not last the first battle against another Lupine, let alone a series of attacks. A strong Zev can fight whatever comes at it, and hit like a truck. Stronger Zevs hold their title long and normally the title of Zev is passed down in generation. If the Clan has gained the respect for this generation, then there is no immediate need for argument.
Females:: The females of the Moon Lupine group are almost always looked down, or frowned upon. This is normally because female Moon Lupine are literally the last to be born in a litter, making them weak and insignificant to a clan. If the pup is not strong enough to keep up, they are killed swiftly by its own mother. Many females in a Moon Lupine clan know their place and there is little argument, however there have been success stories such as that of the Zevsti, Starhawk Silvano. She is the only known female Zev to walk strong and carry a load of history on her shoulders.
Alpha & Omega:: The social order has a lot to do with the way things work. It is only separated by two methods; Alpha & Omega. While many other types of species break down into several groupings, the Lupine made it simple. You’re either strong, or you’re not. There is no in between.

Physical Attributes:
Fur: Moon Lupine only hold dark shades of fur color which normally consist of Black, Brown, Grey or a bit of all three. In some cases the shades are changed. In very very rare cases their Moon Lupine with another shade of fur (Ex Red, Gold, Tan etc). Wolves that normally are born with a rare fur color are observed through life, as their personalities tend to differ then that of a normal Moon Lupine.
Three Forms: With the ability to take on three forms, a humanoid (A human being), an anthro ( the ability to stand upright as a wolf at about 8ft) and a four-legger which should be about 4ft and mostly resemble that of what was once known as “Dire Wolves”. Moon Lupine are known to be fearsome and taunted beasts. They are large and muscular in their animal forms and have been known to have certain hellish looks such as blackened claws, bristled fur and somewhat pointed ears. Sometimes these large wolves call them “Fury” or “damned” forms, for in many cases they are unable to control their rage.
Sabers: Instead of the regular canines of a lycan werewolf, Moon Lupine have actual sabers that hang a few inches from their massive jaw. Sometimes these sabers tend to break off during fights and may not always grow back entirely. In fact, the age of a Moon Lupine can be determined through these deadly fangs.
Blood Eyes: Moon Lupine see in info red when in Wolf Form. One would think it is because of the crimson colored shade of their eyes. That is not quite the case. This type of heat vision can detect and sought out like that nearly of an X-Ray type of window. They can determine not just by scent if one is near death or birth, but by sight as well.
Special Markings:
Moon Crest : Nicolai determined the name “Moon Lupine” not only because of their reaction to the moon itself, but also because of the Crescent Moon birth mark that appears on various places of beast when hit by moonlight ( shoulder, chest, forehead, thigh, etc.) While it holds no special power behind it, it brands them as a breed separate from lycanthropes.
Tattoos? : Alphas of this breed are marked according to their achievements and respectability. They are their own tattoo artists and brand tribal marks into their arms, legs and in some cases the entire body. An Alpha can be respected according to how many markings they have.
Special Abilities: Other then the normal supernatural abilities such as heightened senses, there are a variety of other little tidbits to note while meeting these creatures. They also heal almost instant damage clearly and responsively like that of Alpha Lycanthropes.
Damage: While they dish out a mass load of damage, they also take in a lot too. They are like offensive tanks one would place on the front lines of battle. Their swift motions can cause them to strike in the blink of an eye, no matter how reckless the attack may seem. Deep wounds have been known never to stop these chaotic specimens.
Lycan Wolf?: While it is obvious they may resemble their cousins in various ways, they are not actually lycanthropes. Their blood is not contagious nor are they limited to the ways of the moon. In fact, they seem to work more towards shades of darkness then the moon itself. These beasts are born with what they are in their system from parents, whether both are lupine or one, they will hold it into their system.
Shadow Walking: The name Hell Hound was not given because of their form however, it also because of the abilities they possess. One of the particular abilities is that of stepping into shadow. Like Val-kin of higher power, all Lupine, no matter the power level or age, have the ability to shift or step into shadow. Sometimes it can be a blur of black smoke, or a cloud of nothing, leaving one only to hear the snarls bellowing from the darkness.
Rage: Considerably, its been studied that unlike any other beast, Moon Lupine build a pit of rage, only to unleash this in battle. At the same time, they can remain absolutely clear headed in the heat of anger while devouring their prey.
Haunted Howls: Just like the legends when the devil sent his hounds to do his deed, they would perform a high pitch ghostly howl that would send their prey into a fit of paranoia…bleeding fear. Moon Lupine don’t see this as a legend, it is a reality. If one first hears the sound of a Moon Lupine’s howl they would instantly fear for their soul. Its because of this they don’t howl very often unless the Moon is right or if they are sending a message or report. Each Lupine’s Howl is different and tone, never quite resembling. Males tend to be quite deeper then that of females.
Personality: WARNING: These creatures are highly aggressive, and there has not been a creature to come across them that says otherwise. Constantly waging mini scuffles between each other for training purposes, they work on rage just as easily as they do tactics. A Moon Lupine’s temperament is never a mild one, even if it seemingly comes off as such. They are wild animals, and they don’t give a damn!
Habits: The term “Wild Animal” best fits these Lupine. Their profession can tend to resemble Chaos if one didn’t understand their structure…mostly because it can become chaos. They fight, argue, and have violent out bursts at random. Some have even been born with a slight version of Turrets Syndrome.
Diet: Moon Lupine are nearly gluttonous bottomless pits. They are almost always hungry and it fuels them for anything. From sex, to sleep, to running…they most eat. While they are able to go a few days without eating, it isn’t quite wise. Food is not just a fuel for them…it is also their “Cool Down”. A hungry Lupine can mean the death of many. The feast only on meat. Raw, cooked…it has to be meat. Their systems do not allow them to digest greens, making them hard core carnivores, even in human form.
Selected Environment : They can be anywhere, but because they’re eyes, like Val-kin, are weaker in the daylight, they prefer night time. While easily adaptable, they much prefer the heat and hotter climates of weather.
Strengths:
- They are able to take a load of damage, more then most. Rage causes them to become unstoppable forces of nature.
- Once a Lupine has a taste of blood from a particular prey it will not stop until it hunts it down and tears it beyond recognition.
- Tend to be highly sexually active. They choose open to no relationships unless it is that with a mate.
Weaknesses:
- Silver slows them down, but Iron; like that of Val-kin, can take them out.
- Can be expelled by blessed items.
- Direct sunlight to the eyes can blind them temporarily.
- They are not Immune to most tranquilizers, although it takes a heavy dosage.
- They can tend to be claustrophobic, and caged spaces may cause a burst of frantic paranoia and violent outbursts.
Likes:
Dislikes: It depends on the personality; however as a race they hate the cold. They also highly dislike being confused with werewolves. It’s almost an insult to their nature.
Other:
*When bound to a Val-Kin they are bound for life.
*Can only be bound by Val-kin themselves. If the Val-kin is not strong enough to hold these beasts, then they likely turn on them. In some cases, these bonds form a respectful relationship and can save the life of a weaker Val-kin
*Like lycanthropes, Moon Lupine tend to be very “touchy/feely” in their mannerisms. The are especially affectionate to their mates, family members, young, and in some cases, those they are bonded to.
*Not all Moon Lupine reside in clans. Many run alone, but a Clan is normally preferred.
*Lupine enjoy their freedom and tend to hold to it dearly.
*In some cases, a Moon Lupine Alpha may have two mates. One of these same sex and that of the opposite.
