It was very frustrating that Kieran had more control over his new werewolf abilities than she did with her pyro abilities - which she`d had since birth. It was also infuriating, as Kieran loved to rub that fact in her face whenever she messed up, which was often. Maybe it was just impossible to control fire - but then, remembering what Tei had done certainly proved otherwise. It wasn`t through lack of trying that Emma was struggling, it had to be something else. But she wasn`t sure what.

Emma smiled when Raze hugged her and gave her reassurance, and hugged him back. She was glad that her fire hadn`t wigged him out and sent him packing, but she was quite surprised that it didn`t bother him. She was rather used to getting negative feedback whenever she did pluck up the courage to tell someone about it.

"You`re really OK with it?" she asked, before pulling away. Well, Raze did have powers too, he could raise the undead for goodness sake! Maybe a little fire wouldn`t scare him off. Though, 'little' was a bit of an understatement here. "I`ve taken out entire apartment buildings purely by accident. Are you sure you want to try and help me?" She was quite amused at Raze`s offer, and it made her smile more. But even though she would love his help, she wanted Raze to know what he was getting into here. There was a really high probability that he was going to get burned - by accident, of course.

Raze smiled softly as she hugged him back. There was a part of him that had always enjoyed being close to people. It felt amazing just to hug her, seeing as how beforehand he thought she would have rejected him and his power. Sure her power, if used improperly or even in the hands of someone that could control it could be quite destructive, but it didn't bother him in the least. His powers could not only be frowned upon. but also quite destructive as well.

Raze looked down into her eyes as she pulled away. Ok so the fact that she could level apartment buildings was a bit unnerving, but if all went well, and the techniques he learned from his mentor's worked, she wouldn't have to worry about it unless she truly wanted to use it for something along those lines. "Yes I'm sure. I have a place you can practice if you wish... And i can be there to help you center your concentration... It make take time, but you will eventually know how to control it."

Another reason he wasn't afraid of Emma's power was something his teachers once showed him. They taught him how to use his raw power, and channel it into the area, snubbing out any other sort of powers.

Emma`s eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Raze searchingly, trying to tell whether he really meant it all. He sounded genuine enough, so she shrugged off the insecurities that had begun creeping up on her the moment she had let on about being a pyro and relaxed. "You`d do that, for me?" she asked, brushing her bangs out of her face again. "Heh, no one`s ever actually offered to help me with it before. Not even -" Emma broke off, having almost mentioned her cousin. That was something she didn`t want to bring up; she knew that Kieran would do everything in his power to scare Raze off - or even kill him - if he ever found out Emma was going with him now.

"Uh, this place you mentioned. Where is it, exactly?" she asked swiftly, as a cover up. At the moment, hiding Kieran`s existence from Raze - and vice versa - looked to be the best option. She was sure that telling Raze that she had a werewolf for a cousin - who will most likely try to rip his heart out for asking her out - would scare him. Hell, Kieran scared her sometimes. He had gotten rid of her previous boyfriends - and she was sure he had ate her last one. His excuse that the guy had merely gone for surgery was a really obvious lie.

She was curious though about this place Raze spoke of. "Is it where you do your training?" she asked, intrigued. Whether it was because of her fire or not, Emma was a wild one; time and concentration were certainly gifts that she didn`t have. Her impulsive nature made her act in the moment, and her concentration was very limited as a result of this. Raze was going to have a hard time in training her.

Raze smiled and nodded as she questioned him. Sure it seemed like it was a shock to her, but he wasn't quite sure why no one had offered before. "Yes I would do that for you." He raised an eyebrow as she started to say something but stopped herself. He was wondering what she was going to say but decided he wouldn't pry. She would tell him in time if she felt comfortable enough to.

He listened to her next couple of questions and nodded his head slowly. "Yeah it's the same place i train. But we have to go through my house to get there. It's deep underground so you really don't need to worry about much. I just hope you don't mind the mess as we make it through my place."

Raze's house was a bit rundown and old, but he had been making progress on fixing it up.

She gazed at him a moment, touched that he was offering to help her, before remembering that they were supposed to be walking. Emma took a few steps backwards as she spoke to signal that she wasn`t leaving Raze, but for him to follow, "your place, huh?" She tried to picture what a Necromancer`s home would be like, and considering his style of clothing she doubted it would be a brightly lit one - it had to be somewhere dark. She didn`t know much about necromancers, aside from the whole 'raising the dead' thing, so she was mostly relying on her knowledge of goths.

She smiled when he said the place where he trained was underground, and she turned around and fell into step alongside him. Em had been partly right; the place where he trained was somewhere dark, his actual home was probably just as ordinary as her and Kieran`s. Just some unassuming-looking apartment building - that also just happened to have a secret underground passage.

Emma had to laugh though when Raze mentioned that his place was in a bit of a state. "You`re actually worried about it being a mess, here?" she asked, chuckling as she looked over at him. She had yet to come across a place that didn`t look rundown or abandoned in this city. "What place isn`t?"

Raze smirked as she stepped away remembering that he had offered to walk and not just stand there. He stepped up alongside her and began walking. "Yeah my place. You don't mind that do you?" he asked not sure if she had wanted to go. Sure it had been a bit forward, but that was the only place he knew that was remotely safe. Due to the soldiers they had met up with on the drag. He wasn't sure if training out in broad daylight somewhere would be welcomed.

"Yeah I am... I've been renovating it. Trying to get it back to what it may have looked like when i moved in. Though I'm not too worried about it being trashed on the outside. It's pretty out on it's own. From what I've seen not many people go around that part of Brooklyn anyways." Raze shrugged softly as they continued to walk. "Most places are yes... but i.. i want it to look like any normal house you would see. Not some old mansion that looks like its going to collapse."

Stuffing one of his hands in his pocket, Raze looked up into the sky, taking a deep breath before turning his attention back to Emma and smiling softly.

Emma slid her hands into her jacket pockets as she walked, glancing over at Raze as he spoke. "No, I don`t mind," she said, when he had asked her if she minded going to his place. She supposed it would be a good place to train, but she never really put much thought into whether a place would be safe or not. What had happened on the drag hadn`t seem to have affected her at all; she still wandered far from home and by herself, too. She still raced the streets, and as she hadn`t yet found one that was as clear of debris as the drag had been, she was actually thinking of going back there.

She was quite impressed to hear that he was renovating his place. He was probably one of the very few who even bothered to do that in this city. As she thought about the apartments that she and Kieran had been in so far, she wished more landlords would do that - but then, it really wouldn`t make a difference. If Kieran hadn`t trashed the place, Emma would accidentally burn it down. It was just as well that they continue apartment hopping and finding the cheapest places to stay.

"Oh? You live in Brooklyn?" Emma asked. "That`s where I`m staying. Or rather, I was staying... kind of. Troubles with a roommate," she elaborated, as she knew she probably wasn`t making any sense. "I`m currently renting a room at a motel out in Queens." She stopped walking and stared at him when Raze spoke of his 'house' being a mansion. "Wait, you live in a mansion?" she asked, completely surprised.

There was a smile evident on his features as she said she didn't mind. He normally wouldn't have been so hesitant about inviting someone to his house, but somewhat in his mind he thought he may have been too forward inviting her over on such short notice and just after he had asked her out. "Alright great," he said letting his eyes wander over her as she walked along beside him. Quickly bringing his eyes back, Raze hoped she hadn't noticed, and would be extremely embarrassed if she did.

Raze wasn't the best at fixing things or even working on a house. Though he knew what he was doing and took his time to make sure everything was right and that he didn't screw it up. "Oh really? Troubles with a roommate? That doesn't sound too good though I'm glad you've got a place to stay." He shrugged his shoulders as she spoke of his house. "It's not much really... got it almost for free due to the condition. A bit to big for my taste, and for just one person. Though i like it because it is secluded and far from the rest of the state."

He really wasn't to astounded of where he lived, though others envied or thought he was rich to have such a house. He did have a great deal of money, but he never let on about it. Raze didn't want to be treated differently due to his wealth, so he never shared that information, nor let on about his money.

"Yeah, it`s quite...complicated," Emma said, thinking about her relationship with Kieran and their chaotic living conditions. He was one screwed up cousin, but she knew that deep down he was actually a good person. It was a shame he didn`t like showing that side of his personality and preferred acting like a total prat instead. If he had been more sensible she wouldn`t have to keep leaving him and finding other places to stay.

As Raze spoke of his mansion Emma continued walking with him, smiling when he said it was secluded and too big for one person. "It must be nice though," she said, looking over at him, "being off on your own and having your own place. Not having to put up with...other people." She`d almost said 'werewolves' but managed to catch herself this time. "And come on - you have a mansion! Not a lot of people can say that," she said, smiling and nudging him with her arm as she walked closer alongside him.

"God, I wish I had a mansion," she said, gazing ahead again. "At least then I could just banish Kieran to the other side of the house when he decides to be a total idiot instead of me running off to a motel or something." She looked back over at Raze and flashed a grin, "so, when could I see your place?"

"I mean it can be nice... but living alone in such a big place is kind of weird. It can get pretty lonely as well. I wouldn't mind putting up with people... as long as they aren't... 'complicated'," he said, smirking as he added emphasis on the end. Smiling, Raze shrugged as she nudged him. "Very true... its really not that great though... Just a big house is all it is." He smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders as she walked closer to him. Okay, he was being a little forward, and hoped she didn't mind.

He laughed softly as she spoke of banishing someone to the other side of the house. He doubted even in his place if he would be able to hear someone on the other side of the house. Even if they were being extremely loud. "Who's Kieran?" he asked raising an eyebrow. He flashed a smile back to her as she asked when she could see his place. "Whenever you feel like it. We could go today if you wanted."

Its 2021 kids, and NYC is screwed.
Since the wars many places have closed,
some buildings are under construction,
while others are condemned.

As always the city never sleeps,
and the night time hours seem longer.
The summer heat has yet to hit the city,
already the cracked pavement burns hot.
Rain only makes it all worse.
