Raze found himself wandering around the park. He liked what the people had done to make it so large and roomy compared to the others that used to be in New York. Earlier that day he left a message for Emma asking her to meet him there. He wasn't sure if she would come, or if she even got the message yet, but he went out there anyways with hope that she would. Making his way to the nearest bench he sat down, wondering if the part of the park he told her would make sense. Sometimes his directions weren't the greatest, though she had his number now if she needed to call to find him.
Stretching his arms out across the back of the bench, Raze relaxed a little more and tilted his head back closing his eyes. It was a beautiful day, and he would most likely find himself lounging under a tree pretty soon. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the sun was bright. He was glad he left his coat at home, knowing he would have burnt up if he wore it. His sense of style today was somewhat punk. He wore a black t-shirt with 'Killswitch Engage' on it and a pair of baggy trip shorts. To make it seem somewhat odd, instead of wearing shoes, he was wearing his favorite pair of combat boots. He had an odd sense of what he wore, that was evident, but he liked it and was comfortable with it.
To him it felt like he had been lounging there for quite sometime before he heard an odd squawking. He lifted his head and looked at his watch, it had only been five minutes since he sat down. Shrugging his shoulders, he looked around to see what the racket was about. He saw a bird laying on the ground and another nudging the dead one with its head. A pit formed in his stomach, the bird must have fallen out of the tree. He got up and walked over slowly, before crouching down and cradling the bird in his hand. Putting his other hand over it, Raze muttered and incantation and the small bird jumped back up, standing on his hand before flying onto his shoulder. He stroked a finger down its back and said, "Your free to fly if you wish.... I am not binding you to me." With that the bird gave a happy chirp and flew off.
Raze smiled watching the bird fly off and pulled out a small bottle of hand sanitizer. The things he did with his power often would make his hands grimy, so he carried a bottle with him at all times. Bringing the bottle above his hand, he squirted some of the liquid on his hand before placing the bottle in his pocket. His attention was completely elsewhere as he rubbed his hands together while turning around. He was going to go take a seat under a tree when he saw Emma. His hand immediately went to the back of his neck and started rubbing. "Hi... how long have you been here?" he asked wondering if she saw what he had done. None the less he walked over to her, a smile evident on his face because he was glad she decided to come. "Anyways... how are you doing?"

Emma had gotten the message kinda late, as she had misplaced her cell and it had taken her quite some time to find it. Had she not left it on vibrate, she would have found it sooner when Raze called. When she did find it and got his message, she found she had about twenty minutes to get to the park. Stuffing the phone in her pink short-sleeved jacket that she wore over a grey long-sleeved top and yellow pants, she grabbed her motorcycle keys and headed out the door. Her clothes were light and very colorful today, due to the nice weather, and her hair was up in a fancy ponytail - no matter what the occasion, Emma was always in style.
Due to her tendency to speed on the bike, it didn`t take her that long to find the park. Which was surprising, given the amount of debris on the roads, the traffic, and the fact that she had to keep checking Raze`s directions to make sure she was going the right way. She slowed down once she reached the park, scanning the large area for a familiar face, and once she spotted Raze she parked her bike nearby and walked over to him.
He was back on, squatting down by a tree; he hadn`t seen her yet. As Emma neared, she saw a bird hop onto his shoulder, and heard Raze talking to it. She stopped walking, wondering what on earth he was doing. She watched it fly off a moment before he turned around and spotted her. "Hey," she said back, sounding rather distracted because of the bird, "I just...got here." She turned her gaze on Raze, and frowned slightly as she said quickly, "I`m fine. Er, what were you doing?"

Her expression cleared when Raze told her he had just been helping the bird, and she simply said, "oh." She still found it odd though, that the birds hadn`t shown any fear of him, but she shrugged it off; either the birds here in the states were very different than the ones in the UK, or Raze had some sort of uncanny friendship with animals. Either way, it wasn`t anything to be concerned about - in fact, it was downright sweet that Raze talked to animals. "But yeah, I got your message," she said, smiling now, "interesting directions, I must say. I`m surprised that I didn`t get lost." She grinned, she was teasing him again. She felt she had to, the poor guy seemed extremely nervous about something. "So, what`s up?" she asked.
When he asked for them to go into the shade of a nearby tree, she looked over at it a moment before looking back at him and saying a little hesitantly, "alright." It wasn`t that she didn`t trust him, she was just curious about the way he was acting. She took her cellphone out of her pocket as she started to walk over, turning the ringer on in case she lost the damn thing again, as she was apt to; sliding it back into her pocket, she looked over at Raze when he spoke again. She could see him blushing over the question. "No, I`m not seeing anyone," she answered casually, looking ahead a moment to make sure she didn`t trip over anything before smiling back over at Raze and asking, "why?"

When they reached the tree, Emma stood and watched as Raze sat down with his back against it, before gazing up at its branches to see if they were climbable. She looked back down at Raze when answered her question and said he was merely curious and that he didn`t want to cause any trouble if she did have a boyfriend. Emma didn`t have a boyfriend, but she did have a lunatic werewolf for a cousin who seemed to have made it his mission in life to keep it that way. However, just like her pyrokinesis, she wasn`t going to voice that either.
"Well, that was very considerate of you," Emma said with a smile, before sitting down on the grass alongside Raze, leaning her back against the tree as well. She glanced at her bike to make sure it was still there - and not stolen - before Raze asked her out. The question actually made her blush. She couldn`t help but laugh though when she looked over at him and saw where he was looking. "Are you asking me or the tree?" she asked, teasing him lightly. She could tell it must have been nervewracking for him to build up the courage to ask her, he couldn`t even look at her now. So she had let up on the teasing; she was a bit flustered to put her heart into it anyway.
"I suppose this is why you so badly wanted my number," she mused, giving him a sly grin. Almost taking no time to think about it, Emma said rather abruptly, "yeah, alright. I`ll go with you."

Emma was rather surprised that he had asked her out so soon, but then she had always done things fast so she was quite used to it; she had a very impulsive nature, which was quite fortunate for Raze`s nerves. Emma chuckled softly at Raze`s reaction as she looked down at a blade of grass she had absentmindedly picked and was now twirling in her fingers. She had put the poor guy in shock with her quick response. "What, you didn`t think I was going to say yes?" she asked coyly, looking back over at him and smiling.
She tossed the blade of grass into his lap and chuckled again, and said, "yes, really." Looking into his eyes a moment, she said more seriously, "you don`t have to be shy around me." She was already sitting much closer to him than strangers usually would sit next to each other. But to her, Raze wasn`t a complete stranger. Sure, she had only known him for a short while - this being the second time they`ve met up, counting their initial meeting - but to Emma that was a long time already, given her chaotic, fastpaced lifestyle.

Emma smiled at Raze when he placed his hand on hers and gave it a gentle squeeze. He still looked nervous to her, though, despite what she said, and she wondered why. "You don`t have to apologize," she said with another chuckle, "just...relax. You can be yourself around me, I`ve already said I`d go out with you!" Emma had little notion of tact or discretion, and wasn`t that good at picking up hints either; she was rather frivolous, and never thought of tomorrow, so she always impatiently rushed into things. As such, understanding another`s feelings was something she really had to work on. She also seemed to have an unlimited amount of energy, which did have a tendency to overwhelm some people - and which didn`t allow her to sit still for very long.
She was growing restless now, but she forced herself to sit still. She wouldn`t want Raze to misinterpret her moving away as a sign of withdrawal or rejection. Instead, she resorted to interlacing her fingers with his and gave him a gentle squeeze back. As a result, her pent-up energy made her skin much more warmer to the touch than usual, bordering on a really high fever and steadily growing hotter. If she didn`t watch it, or pay attention, she could burn Raze. Emma, however, didn`t notice it; she wasn`t that tuned into her powers yet.

Emma did notice how cool Raziel`s hand felt, but then everyone felt cooler to the touch to her. However, his did feel colder than usual, and she looked at him wondering if he was cold or something. She smiled when he asked if she wanted to walk around a bit, and said, "yeah, alright," before getting to her feet and dusting herself off.
She stood with her hands in her pockets glancing around a moment before looking back down at Raze, expectantly waiting for him to stand up. Tilting her head slightly to the side, she looked curiously at him when he said that he had something to tell her. "Oh? Like what?" she asked lightly, noting that he seemed rather hesitant about it, whatever it was. Usually, when people hesitated in telling you something, it meant the news wasn`t going to be good - that, or the person had a really big secret that they really weren`t keen on sharing.
Her expression became unreadable when he came out and told her that he was a necromancer. Sliding her bangs out of her face, she frowned slightly as she tried to take in what he had just said, before looking confused altogether. "I`m sorry, you`re a what?" she asked politely. So he had powers too, she got the gist of that, but what was stumping her was the whole necromancer part. Weren`t they supposed to be ancient? Did they even exist anymore? Well, apparently they did, if one was standing right in front of her now. Suddenly, the whole incident with the bird was starting to make more sense. "Wait, so you can, like, bring things back from the dead or something?" she asked, cottoning on, "so that bird earlier...you weren`t just talking to it, were you?"

He smiled as she agreed to taking a walk. Raze thought it would be better to see the scenery as the spoke. It could also give him a bit more time to ease up instead of being so shy. Looking on as she stood, Raze slowly stood and brushed off the back of his pants. A small frown came across his face as she somewhat froze as he told her. She didn't really freeze but there was no expression on her face, and he thought she might have just walked off.
It was true necromancers were few and far between, but they still existed. Most stayed in hiding which is why people thought they had died off. Raze was the complete opposite though. There were times when he would hide away in his house, but he liked to get out and meet people. Of course he was always shy around new people, but as he got to know them he tended to loosen up considerably. The only reason he was still acting this way around Emma was because they had only met recently and yet he had feelings for her.
There was no reason for him to be nervous anymore, due to the fact that she had said yes, but then his abilities came into play as well. That was what he was most afraid of. Raze nodded slowly as she spoke. "Aye... I can." He blushed furiously as she brought up the bird incident. "Yeah it was more than just talking. It had fallen out of the tree... and this is going to sound silly," he said pressing a hand to his forehead, as he lowered his head. "I felt sorry for it... and wanted to not only see, but wanted it to enjoy one last flight..."

Emma didn`t know what it would be like to raise something from the dead, but she could imagine that it would be quite frightful. She couldn`t see why anyone would even want to do it - well, other than her cousin, who would definitely find it all amusing, and really twisted people. But Raze didn`t seem to be a bad guy; he had used his powers for good, to help that bird, not for evil. She didn`t feel that she needed to be afraid or even uncomfortable with him being a Necromancer. She accepted it. After all, she couldn`t really be judgemental when she had a power of her own - something that was possibly even more destructive than his, especially as she hadn`t yet mastered it.
"It`s not silly at all," Emma said, "it shows that you care. I think it`s really sweet, actually." She smiled warmly at him, and said, "it`s certainly nothing to be embarrassed about! And I think it`s cool that you`re a necromancer." As long as he wasn`t going around abusing his powers like Kieran did she really was OK with it. With Raze, the power was in good hands. She suddenly looked very uncomfortable though - but it wasn`t because of him. It was because she knew she`d have to tell him what she was, and she didn`t know how he would take it. She had been more open to accept his secret because she had one herself. But she couldn`t not tell him, after all he`d opened up to her, and it wouldn`t be a very healthy relationship if she kept hiding things from him.
"There`s something that I have to tell you as well," Emma said hesitantly, but looking him directly in the eyes. She paused a moment; if Raze wasn`t comfortable about the whole fire thing, she figured it would be best to scare him off now instead of later on in the relationship. She took a deep breath, and said, "I`m a pyro. But I don`t use things like lighters to cause fires, like a pyromaniac. I`m more like...Tei. I can create it, out of nowhere, and somewhat control it." There was a hint of frustration in her voice at that point, then she said quietly, "look, if you`re uncomfortable with this and you want to back out, I`ll understand. I really would."

Its 2021 kids, and NYC is screwed.
Since the wars many places have closed,
some buildings are under construction,
while others are condemned.
As always the city never sleeps,
and the night time hours seem longer.
The summer heat has yet to hit the city,
already the cracked pavement burns hot.
Rain only makes it all worse.
